임신 기간 중 발생한 감염증은 산모뿐만 아니라 태아에게도 영향을 미치며, 또한 치료약에 의한 영향도 고려해야 하기 때문에 치료약의 선택이 어려울 때가 있다. 쯔쯔가무시병의 임신에 대한 영향은 잘 알려져 있지 않으며, 임신 중 발생한 쯔쯔가무시병은 매우 드물며 국내에서는 아직 보고가 없다. 저자들은 임신 15주에 발열을 주소로 내원한 환자에서 혈청학적으로 증명된 쯔쯔가무시병을 erythromycin으로 치료하였고, 신생아를 1년 이상 경과 관찰하였으나 이상을 발견할 수 없었다. Certain infectious diseases acquired during pregnancy can cause adverse outcome to mother and fetus, and also raise the problem to choose appropriate antibiotics. Cases of scrub typhus contracted during pregnancy are rare and the risk of adverse effects to the fetus is unclear. We report a case of scrub typhus in a pregnant woman in the fifteenth week of gestation, who was a 27-year-old Korean woman presented with fever and an eschar. She was managed empirically with erythromycin, resulting in complete recovery, and scrub typhus was confirmed by seroconversion. The child have not shown any abnormalities on delivery and during the one-year follow-up.
In vitro Derby Imaging of Cancer Biomarkers Using Quantum Dots

<P>Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs), which have broad absorption with narrow emission spectra, are useful for multiplex imaging. Here, fluorescence derby imaging using dual color QDs conjugated by the AS1411 aptamer (targeting nucleolin) and the arginine–glycine–aspartic acid (targeting the integrin α<SUB>v</SUB>β<SUB>3</SUB>) in cancer cells is reported. Simultaneous fluorescence imaging of cellular distribution of nucleolin and integrin α<SUB>v</SUB>β<SUB>3</SUB> using QDs enables easy monitoring of separate targets in the cancer cells and the normal healthy cells. These results suggest the feasibility of a concurrent visualization of QD-based multiple cancer biomarkers using small molecules such as aptamer or peptide ligands.</P> <B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>In vitro derby imaging of RGD peptide targeting integrin α<SUB>v</SUB>β<SUB>3</SUB> protein (green in image) and AS1411 aptamer targeting nucleolin protein (red) using two different quantum dots (605 and 655 nm) is successfully visualized in HeLa cells, simultaneously. 본 후향적 연구는 1991년 1월부터 1994년 12월까지 인제대학교 의과대학 서울백병원 이비인후과에서 만성 중이염 수술 후 진주종성 중이염으로 확인된 104례에 대한 임상 조사를 시행하여 진주종성 중이염의 병태 및 현황을 파악하는데 도움이 되고자 하였다. Cholesteatoma is a dangerous disease because it causes destruction of surrounding bones including ossicles and induce hazardous otologic and intracranial complications. Authers performed the clinical study in 104/463 cases of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma operated from January 1991 to December 1994 at department of otolaryngology of Paik hospital, Inje University. The results were as fellows. 1) The total cases of operation was 463 of which 104 cases (21.9%) were cholesteatoma. 2) Sex ratio was 1.2 : 1, male predominance, and age incidence was the highest in third decade as 34.6%. 3) The method of operation were as follows; open cavity mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty in 58 cases (55.8%), intact canal wall mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty in 30 cases 28.8%). Besides intact bridge mastoidectomy and atticotomy were done. 4) Postoperative follow up audiogram showed that loss of hearing (10-30 dB) in 51 cases (49.0%), and gain of hearing (10-2OdB) in 40 cases (38.5%) 5) The most common site of facial nerve dehiscence was the tympanic portion in 35 cases (87.5%) 6) The site of labyrinthine fistula was mainly lateral semicircular canal(SCC) alone(24 cases, 88.9%). 1 case of posterior SCC(3.7%) fistula and 1 case(3.7%) of coexistence of lateral and posterior SCC dehiscence was noted.

본 논문은 기존의 Haar 유사 특징 기반 얼굴검출 기법의 한계를 보완하는 수평 및 수직방향픽셀 히스토그램 분석 기반의 머리영역 검출 방법을 제안한다. 제안 기법은 배경차감 영상에서 수평과 수직 방향으로 전경 픽셀의 수를 표시하는 픽셀 히스토그램 영상을 생성한 후, 해리스 코너 검출기법을 이용하여 머리 영역을 특징짓는 특징점을 검출한다. 제안한 방법은 기존의 얼굴 특성 기반 검출에 비해 머리를 포함한 몸체의 수직과 수평 픽셀 히스토그램을 이용함으로써 정면 영상뿐만 아니라 측면 및 후면 영상이나 이마가 가려진 입력 영상의 경우에도 머리 영역을 안정적으로 검출하는 결과를 보여주었다. In this paper, we propose a head detection method based on vertical and horizontal pixel histogram analysis in order to overcome drawbacks of the previous head detection approach using Haar-like feature-based face detection. In the proposed method, we create the vertical and horizontal foreground pixel histogram images from the background subtraction image, which represent the number of foreground pixels in the same vertical or horizontal position. Then we extract feature points of a head region by applying Harris corner detection method to the foreground pixel histogram images and by analyzing corner points. The proposal method shows robust head detection results even in the face image covering forelock by hairs or the back view image in which the previous approaches cannot detect the head regions.
