<P>Electro-chemically synthesized nickel hydroxide Ni(OH)(2) on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) made from graphene oxide (GO) has been investigated as electrode materials for electrical energy storage applications. The electrochemical deposition of Ni(OH)(2) on highly hybridized RGO was more effective to improve the catalytic activity of electrode and to increase the capacity performance of the overall system. By virtue of the unique two-dimensional nanostructure of RGO, the as-obtained Ni(OH)(2) was closely protected by RGO, effectively suppressing their microstructural degradation during the charge and discharge processes, and enabling an enhancement in cycling capability. Electrochemical measurements demonstrated that the specific capacitance of the as-obtained supercapacitor is high as 729mF/cm(2) and power density of 1.5 mW/cm(2). The electrical conductivity of RGO was determined to be 104 S/cm. In addition, there was no marked decrease in capacitance at a constant current density after 200 cycles, suggesting excellent long-term cycling stability. In this study a full scale 3D analysis of post-tensioned box section and pre-tensioned inverted T-girder section is carried out by considering only vertical loadings. The aim of this research is to investigate long span box Girder Bridge with pre-tensioned inverted T-girder using splicing technique. 4 lanes of 150m long (3 spans @ 50 m) post-tensioned box girder bridge with 12 cells and 13.54 m wide deck is considered as the bridge model and that the equivalent box section consists of 13 numbers of inverted pre-tensioned girder having two different lengths spliced at the points of inflection of continuous length of the bridge. The inverted T-girders are used to support the deck panel with superimposed load on it. The structural analysis of the bridge is done using CSi Bridge employing Integrated 3D Bridge Design Software based on finite element method for both longitudinal and transverse direction. In the analysis, AASHTO LRFD-2006 is used by subjecting Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL), edge loads, knife edge loads, and heavy vehicles load on the bridge deck. Moving vehicles load is placed at different locations to determine the maximum and minimum moments, stresses and flexural effects. Actual post-tensioned box section flexure, shear, torsion and stress in both longitudinal and transverse analyses showed lower values when compared to pre-tensioned inverted T-girder section. Assuming monolithic behaviour, the actual box section provided better stiffness rather than equivalent one. Nevertheless composite behaviour of the equivalent section can be accepted as an alternative solution for long span continuous box Girder Bridge where cost is a major factor in particular.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this study, highly catalytic platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) were synthesized on polished Au thin-film electrode using surfactant assisted electrochemical technique (SAET) for a high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensor. Residual surfactants on the fabricated electrodes were removed by dipping into a tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution. The physical characteristics of the electrodes were investigated through FESEM, XRD, and EDX, and the analytical analyses were demonstrated with cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and amperometry. After optimization considering the NP deposition potential and time, dipping time in THF, the fabricated biosensor showed a promising electro-oxidation towards glucose in terms of high sensitivity of 5.87 ± 0.13 μAmM−1 cm−2, detection limit of 0.235 μM, wide linear range from 0.25–36 mM, fast response lower than 5 s, and good reproducibility and stability. The proposed SAET can be applied to uniform deposition and dispersion of other nanoparticles for numerous applications. Therefore, the proposed sensing platform can be useful to monitor glucose in diagnostic bioprocess monitoring and environmental monitoring.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> PtNPs has been newly synthesized by using soft surfactant PS-b-PEO. </LI> <LI> High dispersion of PtNPs on the surface of electrode was obtained using SAET. </LI> <LI> Optimum removal of surfactant by sinking in THF for 20 min at 40 °C. </LI> <LI> High sensitivity of 10.87 μAmM−1 cm−2, limit of detection is 0.235 μM, and fast response <5 s. </LI> <LI> Wide linear range from 0.5 to 36 mM, good reproducibility, and stability. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
