        백서 심근경색모델에서 시간경과와 경색의 크기에 따른 심자도의 변화

        N/A Background: Magnetocardiogram (MCG), which records the changes of magnetic fields generated by the heart`s electrical activity, theoritically can provide unique data for clinical application. To date, MCG has been investigated only at a single time point after myocardial infarction (MI) with severe left ventricular dysfunction in rats. The purpose of the present study was to investigate sequential changes of MCG after MI and to evaluate effects of infarct size on MCG. Methods: Acute MI were induced by the permanent ligation of left coronary artery in 22 rats. Magnetic fields were recorded just above a rat with Nb Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) gradiometer inside a magnetically shielded room. MCG was measured before and immediately after surgery and it was subsequently recorded at the time points of 1, 4 and 6 hours post operatively. MCG was also measured at 1, 3, 7 and 21 days after surgery. Results: Elevation of ST segment and appearance of pathological Q wave on the MCG were evident immediately after the ligation of coronary artery and persisted to 6 hours after MI. On MCG, ST segment was depressed and T wave was inverted from 1 day after MI. In rats with small-and moderate- sized MI (infarct size〈30%), ST depression returned to near the isoelectric level and Q wave disappeared from 7 days after MI. However, ST depression and Q wave were still present in rats with larger infarct (infarct size≥30%). Conclusion: Evolutional changes of MCG were well-recognized up to 21 days after MI. Furthermore, the infarct size can be expressed by the extent of Q wave and ST segment depression on MCG. Taken together, these data indicate that MCG is a helpful modality for the diagnosis, evaluation of infarct size and follow up after MI.(Korean J Med 62:42-48, 2002)

        시판김치 중 유해세균의 조사

        Three different commercial Kimchi industry-made packaged, department store-made and ordinary market-made were analyzed for their pH, acidity and microbiological characteristics including certain harmful bacteria on selective media during a storage-fermentation period of 7 days at 2℃ or 20℃. The p11 of all the Kimchi samples wasdecreased from 5.85 to 3.82 and their total acidities increased from 0.2 to 1.18 as the fermentation continued during the storage-fermentation. E. call and Salmonella sp. of 0~1101 cfu/mL were found in the industry-made Kimchi just after purchase time. As the storage-fermentation proceeded, the viable numbers of these bacteria had been reduced in all Kimchi samples tested and no bacteria were detected after 5 days at 2℃ and 2 days at. 20℃., respectively. On the other hand, a range of 7.9102℃2.9103 cfu/mL of Staphylococcussp. was detected in the department store-made and ordinary market-made Kimchi samples at the purchase time, which was higher than that of the industry-made Kimchi, and this range wasn't reduced (luring storage-fermentation. The viable number of yeasts in the market-made Kimchi was 2.1103 cfu/mL, These results suggest that some commercial Kimchis were contaminated by some harmful bacteria and that a portion of these bacteria remained alive in the Kimchi, even with high acidity during the edible period.

        김치 재료 methanol 추출물이 식품유해 미생물에 미치는 항균효과

        This study was carried out to determine the inhibitory effect of methanol extract from kimchi ingredients against Salmonella pphimurium, Listeria monocvtoenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Esherichia toll which are pathogenic microorganisms and Aspergillus sp, Penicillium sp. Antimicrobial activity of methanol extracts was tested against bacteria by paper disc method. Antifungal activity of methanol extracts was shown by hyphal growth inhibition ratio. The methanol extracts from all materials were effective against E. coil among them. And the antimicrobial activity of the methanol extracts from ginger and onion were lower than the others. The antifimgal activity of the methanol extracts from radish, ginger, and garlic were effective against Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium sp. In the result of identifying antimicrobial effect rate, the methanol extracts from red pepper and radish had more than 40% against S. nphimurium and more than 30% against K coll. Also the methanol extracts front onion had an high inhibitory effect rate of more than 50% against S. tvphi,nurium and that from garlic had more than 60% against S. aureus. The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) of red pepper was examined 500 pg/mL against L monocytogenes. This value was the lowest among the others.

        서울시 교직원의 고혈압 실태파악과 그 요인에 관한 연구

        Purpose : To describe epidemiological characteristics and related factors in school personnel with hypertension. Method : 5,384 school personnel (2,638 males and 2,746 females) received physical examination at the Seoul School Health Center in 2002. blood pressure(BP) was classified by JNC 7th report. Normal BP is systolic BP <120 and diastolic BP<80, prehypertension BP is 120-139 or 80-89mmHg, stage 1 hypertension BP is 140-159 or 90-99, and stage 2 hypertension >=160 or >=l00 mmHg. each group was evaluated by gender. We used multiple regression and logistic regression. Results : Normotension was 20.13% in d e s and 48.65% in female, prehypertension 43.4% in males and 3.06% in females, stage 1 hypertension 26.38% in males and 10.99% in females, stage2 hypertension 9.59% in males and 3.2% in females. the older age group had higher distribution of stage 1 hypertension and stage 2 hypertension. The means and abnormal rates of BMI, blood sugar, total cholesterol, GOT, GPT, and GTP was higher when their blood pressure was higher. However, an alcohol habit among lifestyle factors had an inverse effect. Higher Bp was correlated to a &her BMI, FBS, and cholesterol-like dose response. In stage 1 hypertension, the related factors of hypertension for males were BMI, amount of cigarettes smoked, exercise, blood sugar, total cholesterol, and GTP. In stage 1 hypertension, age, BMI, exercise, blood sugar, total cholesterol were related factors in female. In stage 2 hypertension, age and smoking were related factors in male, and age, BMI, and cholesterol in female. Conclusions : It is possible to intervene in all related factors of hypertension except age through life-style modification and appropriate medical management. Active health promotion is needed in School personnel.

        유산균 발효유가 Streptococcus mutans의 생균수 및 biofilm 형성에 미치는 영향

        유산균이 위장관과 구강건강에 probiotics로서 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음이 보고되고 있다. 이에 시판되는 유산균 발효유 5종과 우유를 선택하여 우식유발 원인균인 S. mutans에 대한 증식억제 및 biofilm 형성에 미치는 영향을 평가하고, 발효유의 산도, 완충능, 산생성능, 칼슘과 인의 함량을 측정하였다. 유산균 발효유에 S. mutans를 주입한 후 생균수를 측정한 결과 모든 발효유의 %가 증가함에 따라 S. mutans 수가 감소했으나 우유에서는 변화가 없었다. 10% 유산균 발효유에 S. mutans를 주입한 후 biofilm 형성 정도를 측정한 결과 액티브 GG, 불가리스는 biofilm 형성이 감소하였고, 이오는 유의한 변화가 없었으며, 투티, 에이스, 우유는 증가하였다(P<0.05). 유산균 발효유 및 우유의 산도를 측정한 결과 이오(3.48±0.01), 투티(3.67±0.02), 에이스(3.71±0.02), 액티브 GG(4.04±0.02), 불가리스(4.19±0.02) 순으로 나타났다. 유산균 발효유의 산생성능을 평가한 결과 불가리스가 가장 높은 산생성능을 보였으며 액티브 GG, 에이스, 투티, 이오, 우유 순으로 산도 하강 경향을 나타냈다. 이상의 결과는 유산균 발효유가 초기산도 및 산생성능 측정 결과 우식유발 가능성이 있음을 나타냈다. 그러나 유산균 발효유 중에서 농후발효유가 우식유발균인 S. mutans를 억제하였고 biofilm 형성을 감소시켜 긍정적인 효과를 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다. Lactic acid bacteria worked positively on gastrointestinal tract and oral environment. So I selected commercial five fermented milks and milk. and then I evaluated their effect of growth inhibition and biofilm formation of cariogenic bacteria. Streptococcus mutans. And also calculated the acidity. buffering capacity. concentration of Ca and P ion and pH change of those drinks. After adding S. mutans to fermented milks viable cell count of S. mutans in milk was not statistically different but those in all fermented milks were decreased as concentration of fermented milk increased. When I measured the amount of formed biofilm in 10% fermented milks and milk with S. mutans and compared with those without S. mutans. the amount was decreased in Active GG and Bulgaris while being increased in Tootee. Ace and milk(P<0.05). The fermented milk with the lowest pH value was E5(3.48±0.01). and the highest was Bulgaris(4.19±0.02). pH change of the fermented milks and milk with S. mutans was measured. The highest acid producing fermented milk was Bulgaris. and followed by Active GG, Ace, Tootee, E5, Milk. These results indicated that fermented milks had caries activity due to the value of initial acidity and acid producing capacity. But, concentrated fermented milks had the inhibitory effect against S. mutans, and also had high volume of Ca and P ion that protected teeth. So I suggest that they have positive effect on teeth.

        교합 거상 금관이 어린이 교합 발육에 미치는 영향

        혼합 치열기에서 유치의 탈락 및 영구치의 맹출 과정이 순조롭게 이루어지는 것은 중요한 일이다. 맹출 중인 치아는 인접치유무, 유치의 흡수속도, 유치의 조기상실, 만기잔존, 국소병소나 입술, 혀, 저작근 등의 다양한 요인들에 의해 영향 받을 수 있으며, 이러한 요소들 사이의 균형이 깨지게 되면 인접치 간의 관계가 변하고 심각한 부정교합이 초래될 수 있다. 본 증례는 유치열 및 혼합치열을 가진 어린이들에서 상하악 구치부 교합면에 접착된 교합 거상 금속 스플린트(bite raising metal splint)가 치열에 미친 영향에 대해 보여주고 있다. 이들은 스플린트로 인한 유치의 만기잔존으로 영구치 맹출에 방해를 받거나, 전치부 개방교합, 제 1대구치의 저위 맹출 등 혼합 치열기 발달에 큰 영향을 받고 있었다. 치료로써 고속 핸드피스를 이용하여 스플린트를 제거하고 주기적 점검을 통해 교합변화 및 영구치 맹출 양상을 관찰하였다. Children are in mixed dentition during 6 years after 3 years old. this time is very important for sound permanent dentition. There are many factors of influence to tooth eruption stage ; adjacent teeth, tooth resorption, early loss or retention of deciduous tooth, local lesion, lip and tongue, masticatory muscles, ect. These factors should be in balance, if not, relation of adjacent teeth is changed, then severe malocclusion is occurred maybe. These cases revealed influences of resin bonded metal splint on occlusal surface of children's molar to mixed dentition. Splints interfere with falling off of deciduous tooth, tooth eruption, normal occlusion formation, and development of mixed dentition and occlusion. Therefore we removed the metal splint from teeth, follow-up checked occlusion and tooth eruption.

        교직원 중 비흡연자와 흡연자의 건강상태비교

        Purpose:This study estimated the prevalence of smoking among male and female school employees. This study also correlated key indicators of health with the number of cigarettes consumed per day by the male smokers. The indicators of health included health behavior, blood pressure (mmHg), BMI (kg/m2), diabetes, total cholesterol, GOT, GPT and GTP. Methods:Subjects included 2,640 male and 2,747 female employees working at elementary, middle, and high schools who received a physical check-up at the Seoul School Health Center in 2002. Data was obtained from the physical examinations, questionnaires, and laboratory results. Results:39.7% of males and 0.4% of females were current smokers. 60% of the male smokers consumed between 10 and 19 cigarettes per day, and39.6% of male smokers had been smoking between 10 and 19 years. Smokers who consumed more than one pack per day had a relatively higher BMI than the non-smokers (24.7 24.1, respectively). However, smokers had lower blood pressure than non-smokers. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure of current-smokers were 128.2 and 82.8, respectively, while the values among non-smokers were 129 and 84.5, respectively. The proportion of current smokers with severe obesity (over BMI 30) was 5.0%. This was considerably higher than the 1.3% of severely obese non-smokers. Current-smokers also had mean and abnormal rate of fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, GOT, GPT, and GTP that were higherthan those of non-smokers. The frequency of red meat consumption, alcohol use, perceived incidents of stress were alsomore frequent in current-smokers than in non-smokers. Exercise frequency was also lower among smokers. In multiple regression after adjusting all possible confounding factors including age, BMI, diet, and drink, the parameter value of fasting blood glucose, cholesterol, GOT, GPT, and GTP increased relative to the level of cigarette consumption. Conclusion: Among school employees, health behavior, and general health status including BMI, total cholesterol, GOT, GPT, GTP, and fasting blood glucose were worse in smokers than in non-smoker.
