        Antinociceptive role of neurotensin receptor 1 in rats with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy

        Background: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a major side effect of anti-cancer drugs. Neurotensin receptors (NTSRs) are widely distributed within the pain circuits in the central nervous system. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of NTSR1 by examining the effects of an NTSR1 agonist in rats with CIPN and investigate the contribution of spinal serotonin receptors to the antinociceptive effect. Methods: Sprague-Dawley rats (weight 150-180 g) were used in this study. CIPN was induced by injecting cisplatin (2 mg/kg) once a day for 4 days. Intrathecal catheters were placed into the subarachnoid space of the CIPN rats. The antiallodynic effects of intrathecally or intraperitoneally administered PD 149163, an NTSR1 agonist, were evaluated. Furthermore, the levels of serotonin in the spinal cord were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results: Intrathecal or intraperitoneal PD 149163 increased the paw withdrawal threshold in CIPN rats. Intrathecal administration of the NTSR1 antagonist SR 48692 suppressed the antinociceptive effect of PD 149163 given via the intrathecal route, but not the antinociceptive effect of intraperitoneally administered PD 149163. Intrathecal administration of dihydroergocristine, a serotonin receptor antagonist, suppressed the antinociceptive effect of intrathecally administered, but not intraperitoneally administered, PD 149163. Injecting cisplatin diminished the serotonin level in the spinal cord, but intrathecal or intraperitoneal administration of PD 149163 did not affect this reduction. Conclusions: NTSR1 played a critical role in modulating CIPN-related pain. Therefore, NTSR1 agonists may be useful therapeutic agents to treat CIPN. In addition, spinal serotonin receptors may be indirectly involved in the effect of NTSR1 agonist.

        Preparation, characterization and in vitro intestinal absorption of a dry emulsion formulation containing atorvastatin calcium.

        <P>A redispersible dry emulsion (DE) formulation of atorvastatin calcium (AC) was developed to enhance the in vitro dissolution of AC, thereby increasing its gastrointestinal absorption. The spray-drying technology was used where Plurol Oleique CC 497 was chosen as the oil phase. Effects of carriers, surfactants, and homogenizers on the characteristics of DE containing AC were systematically investigated. The final formulation consisted of dextrin and Poloxamer 188 as carrier and surfactant, respectively, and was homogenized by a high pressure homogenizer before spray drying. The in vitro release of AC from the optimized DE was significantly higher than that of pure AC powder (76% vs. 30% at 24 hr). The in vitro intestinal absorption of AC from the DE formulation was 0.77 microg/cm(2) at 2 hr, which was a 2.33-fold increase compared to the pure unformulated AC powder. These results suggest that the oral dry emulsion formulation could improve the intestinal absorption of AC.</P>

        Suture Repair in Endoscopic Surgery for Craniovertebral Junction

        Objective: Endoscopic approaches to the craniovertebral junction (CVJ) have been established as viable and effective surgical treatments in the past decade. One of the major complications is leakage of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and feasibility of suture closure at the nasopharyngeal mucosa upon durotomy. Methods: A series of consecutive patients who underwent different endoscopic approaches to the CVJ were retrospectively reviewed. The pathologies, surgical corridors, neurological and functional outcomes, radiological evaluations, and complications were analyzed. Different strategies of repair for the intraoperative CSF leakage were described and compared. Results: A total of 22 patients covering 13 years were analyzed. There were 12, 2, and 8 patients who underwent transnasal, transoral, and combined approaches, respectively. There were 8 patients (36.4%) who experienced intraoperative CSF leakage, and were grouped into 2: 4 in the nonsuture (NS) group and 4 in the suture-repaired (SR) group. The NS group had 3 (75%) persistent CSF leakages postoperation that caused 1 mortality, whereas patients of the SR group had only 1 minor CSF rhinorrhea that healed spontaneously within days. Conclusion: In this series of 22 patients who required anterior endoscopic resection of pathologies at the CVJ, there was 1 (4.5%) serious complication related to CSF leakage. For patients who had no durotomy, the mucosal incision at the nasopharynx usually healed rapidly and there were few procedure-related complications. For patients with intraoperative CSF leakage, suture closure was technically challenging but could significantly lower the risks of postoperative complications.

        Docetaxel microemulsion for enhanced oral bioavailability: Preparation and <i>in vitro</i> and <i>in vivo</i> evaluation

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A microemulsion system of docetaxel was prepared and evaluated for its solubilization capacity and oral bioavailability improvement. Based on a solubility study and pseudo ternary phase diagrams, microemulsions of about 30?nm in mean diameter were formulated with improved solubilization capacity towards the hydrophobic drug, docetaxel. The o/w microemulsion formulation (M-3) composed of Capryol 90 (oil), Cremophor EL (surfactant) and Transcutol (co-surfactant) enhanced the solubility of docetaxel up to 30?mg/mL, which maintained solubilization capacity for 24?h even after it was diluted 20 times with normal saline. The three formulations did not show significant difference in the <I>in vitro</I> lipid digestion study. Both the ultrafiltration and dialysis studies revealed that the release of 80% of docetaxel was released from the microemulsions within 12?h <I>in vitro</I>. Compared to the commercial product Taxotere<SUP>®</SUP> (0.025?µg/cm<SUP>2</SUP>), the apical to basolateral transport of docetaxel across the Caco-2 cell monolayer from the M-3 formulation (Capryol 90/Cremophor EL/Transcutol=29.4:24.9:12.4, w/w) was significantly improved (0.624?µg/cm<SUP>2</SUP>, <I>p</I><0.01). Moreover, the oral bioavailability of the M-3 formulation in rats (34.42%) rose dramatically compared to that of the orally administered Taxotere<SUP>®</SUP> (6.63%). This increase in bioavailability was probably due to the combined effect of the enhancement in solubility, the inhibition of P-gp efflux system and the increase in permeability. These results encourage further development of docetaxel microemulsions as an oral drug delivery system.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P><P>Increased oral bioavailability of docetaxel in the microemulsions was observed by the combined effects of enhanced solubility, P-gp inhibition and permeability enhancing effects.</P><ce:figure></ce:figure>

        Diversity of Bovine Rumen Methanogens In Vitro in the Presence of Condensed Tannins, as Determined by Sequence Analysis of 16S rRNA Gene Library

        Molecular diversity of rumen archaeal populations from bovine rumen fluid incubated with or without condensed tannins was investigated using 16S rRNA gene libraries. The predominant order of rumen archaea in the 16S rRNA gene libraries of the control and condensed tannins treatment was found to belong to a novel group of rumen archaea that is distantly related to the order Thermoplasmatales, with 59.5% (15phylotypes) and 81.43% (21 phylotypes) of the total clones from the control and treatment clone libraries,respectively. The 16S rRNA gene library of the control was found to have higher proportions of methanogens from the orders Methanomicrobiales (32%) and Methanobacteriales (8.5%) as compared to those found in the condensed tannins treatment clone library in both orders (16.88% and 1.68% respectively). The phylotype distributed in the order Methanosarcinales was only found in the control clone library. The study indicated that condensed tannins could alter the diversity of bovine rumen methanogens.

        인터넷 쇼핑가치에 따른 중국 패션제품 소비자 세분집단의 온라인 구전 및 구매행동

        The main purposes of this study were to segment Chinese consumers who purchase fashion products through internet commerce according to internet shopping values, to compare their online word-of-mouth acceptance and dissemination behavior, and to examine the demographic characteristics and purchase behavior of the segments. 715 questionnaires were collected through internet survey from January 19 th to March 16 th , 2015 and a total of 488 were used for the final data analysis. The respondents were twenty to thirty nine years old men and women living in all over China. Hedonic and utilitarian shopping values were identified through factor analysis and based on the shopping values, the respondents were categorized into four groups-ambivalent shopping value group, hedonic shopping value group, utilitarian shopping value group and indifferent group. Among these groups, there were significant differences in terms of online word-of-mouth acceptance as well as dissemination level and motivation. In overall, ambivalent shopping value group showed high online word-of-mouth acceptance as well as dissemination motivation. The groups also showed significant differences in clothing selection criteria, frequently purchased internet shopping sites, online clothing shopping frequency and information sources. The groups also differed in terms of age, residential area, education level, occupation and income. However, there were no significant differences in gender and marital status among the groups.

        Study of the Synthesis and Properties of Ir(III) Complexes Based on Phosphine Carbonylimide Derivative as Auxiliary Ligand

        Three iridium complexes of (dfppy)2Ir(DAPB), (dfppy)2Ir(DAPB), and (dfppy)2Ir(DAPB) were synthesized by using phosphine carbonylimide derivative as auxiliary ligand and fluoro?/trifluoromethyl substituted 2-phenylpyridine derivatives as primary ligands. Their quantum efficiency range from 19.4% to 38.5%, and show strong rigidochromic effect. The maximum emission wavelengths of solid-state fluorescence have remarkable red shifts from 39 to 55?nm compared with these in CH2Cl2.

      • 중국 전지 예술의 정체성 분석에 따른 기호학적 상징성 해석

        중국 전지는 중국인들의 염원을 종이에 승화한 창작예술로 중국 문화의 전통이 실생활과 밀접하게 연관되어 발전하고 계승하고 있다. 또한, 중국 전지는 중국인의 사유방식과 사회의식의 형성 등 여러 가지 방면의 영향을 받으면서 지역에 따라 서로 다른 특징을 나타내고 있다. 또한 그 표현에 있어서 다양한 상징적인 내용을 포함하고 있다. 따라서 중국 전지는 하나의 성숙된 기호체계이며 민족 문화의 특징적인 기호이고 중국문화의 전파와 발전에 추진적인 역할을 하였다고 볼 수 있다. 전지는 중국에서 보편적이고 광범위하게 사용되며 상징성이 뚜렷한 민간 예술의 하나이며 약정속성의 무늬로 이루어진 기호체계이다. 중국 전지의 주제는 토템숭배, 생식숭배, 원시무술(巫術), 신화전설, 역사 이야기, 종교, 의례 등 풍습과 긴밀히 연결 되어 있다. 중국 전지는 은유적인 표현 방식으로 그 지역의 역사와 문화를 계승하였으며 중국 전통의 철학적, 예술적 의식과 조형 의식을 집중하여 표현하였다. 이러한 시각으로 볼 때 중국 전지는 하나의 전형적인 중국 전통 문화 기호이다. 중국 전지의 독특한 미적 사유와 조형 언어는 높은 예술 가치를 자랑할 수 있는데 이미 2009년 유네스코의 “인류무형문화유산 대표 목록”에 추가되었다. 이 오래된 민간 예술을 계승하고 더욱 새로운 모습으로 발전시키는 것은 현재 중요한 과제이다. 전지의 조형성에 치중한 그동안의 연구와는 달리 지역적 역사성이 담긴 민족 예술임을 밝혀야 한다. 따라서 중국 전지의 상징성이 지역의 역사와 문화가 어떠한 영향을 주고받았는지에 대한 연구를 통하여 지역적인 자연 환경과 지역에 따른 역사적.문화적 배경이 전지의 상징성에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지를 우선 파악한다. 지역에 대한 정체성의 확립은 세계화에 대응하기 위해 필연적으로 요구된다. 따라서 지역 정체성을 대변한 중국 전지가 지역 브랜드화에 중심적 역할을 할 수 있음을 밝히고 실용화에 도움을 주고자 한다. 중국 전지의 창작에 있어서 그 사유 방식은 같을지라도 다루는 기법과 조형에 대한 표현 형식은 지역에 따라 많은 차이가 있다. 이에 비롯하여 하나의 중화문화권 안에서 발생하고 지속적으로 발전하는 전지의 상징적 추구성은 대체적으로 비슷할 지라도 지역적인 혹은 민족적인 차이의 영향에 따라 상징적 표현은 역시 나름의 특유성을 띠고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 그 특유성을 찾고 기호학의 측면에서 분석함으로써 그 지역 전지의 상징성이 지역 정체성을 어떻게 이해하고 표현하였는지를 밝히고 발전.계승하는 방법론을 제시하였다. 유구한 역사를 가진 중국 전지가 현대의 디자인 언어를 더욱 풍부하게 할 수 있다고 본다. 중국 전지를 기호학적으로 분석하여 전지의 상징적 의미를 디자인의 조형학적 측면에서 연구함에 따라 중국 전지를 기호학의 이론에 도입하여 분석할때 전지의 상징성이 나타나는 각 지역의 특징적 메시지를 도출하는데 유력한 방향을 제시하였다. 분류에 따른 중국 전지의 분석을 지역에 의한 6 fields로 나눔으로써 그 공통성을 찾을 수 있었다. 구체적인 인물 전지에서 그 지역을 대표로 하는 전지의 상징성이 뚜렷함을 발견하였다. 전지의 상징성에서 중국 지역적 정체성을 차별화하였음을 밝혀 전지의 지역 브랜드화를 통한 중국 지역 경제 발전의 활성화를 구상하였으며 지역의 정체성과 연결하여 상품화(商品化)함으로써 지역브랜드화에 기여하고자 한다. Chinese paper-cut is developing and inherited Chinese traditonal culture and closely related to real life as an artistic creation which sublimated Chinese people’s wish through paper. Also the feature of Chinese paper-cut varies according to region because it was influenced by Chinese people’s way of thinking and the development of social consciousness etc. Also included various symbolic content on the way of expression. The special aesthetic thought and plastic language can boast high artistic value, and was added to ‘the contents of intangible cultural heritage of human being’s representative’. To inherit this old folk art and develop it into more refreshing feature is an important task for now. In difference from these researches which focused on formativeness of paper-cut until now, have to determine it is national art which is filled with local historicity. Therefore, grasp how paper-cut’s symbolism was influence by regional natural environment and diverse historical, cultural background through research about how Chinese paper-cut’s symbolism influenced by regional history and culture. Establishing the identity towards region is required inevitably. Hope this could determine China can do a central role as a representative for the identity towards region, adn help its commercialization in the creation of Chinese paper-cut, even if the way of thinking is same, technique and the expression towards formation is diverse on region. Therefore even if paper-cut has been bred and now consistently developing in China cultural cirles and pursuit of symbolic is similar, according to the influence of regional or national difference, symbolic expression has its peculiarity. Thus suggest the methodology of development and accession. Chinese paper-cut which has a long history, will richen modern design language. With semiotic analysis of Chinese paper-cut, researched paper-cut’s symbolic meaning in plasticism aspect. Suggested strong diretion for deducting each region’s symbolic meaning in plasticism aspect. Suggested strong direction for deducting each region’s pathognomonic message which paper-cut shows when analysis paper-cut on the basis of semiotics theory. According to region, paper-cut will be classified into 6 fileds and can find its community. Through concrete people paper-cut, discovered the symbolism is very clear by region. By determining Chinese regional identity through paper-cut’s symbolism, composed revitalization of region economic development with branding Chinese paper-cut by region. Hope this can contribute to region branding.
