This study builds on prevalent approaches of extending the applications of importance performance analysis (IPA) tool. Thus, we analyse the influence of Performance expectancy on Customer Satisfaction. The instruments employed were adapted from previous studies and pilot tested with a group of master students to verify clarity of meaning and comprehension. Findings reveal the stronger influence of three factor that emerge from performance expectancy: Usability, Reliability, Information Quality.

This article employs surveys by Gallup, the Central Asia Barometer, and the Barometer of Eurasian Integration, as well as focus groups that were commissioned as part of this research, to argue (1) that Kazakhstani perceptions of the United States compare unfavorably to perceptions of China and especially of Russia; (2) that Russian influence is a minor or nonexistent cause of the United States’ poor image; (3) that US cultural influence has an ambiguous effect on the country’s image in Kazakhstan, due to a “clash of values” between conservative Kazakhstani society and relatively liberal US cultural exports; (4) that the United States’ foreign policy, especially its violation of other states’ sovereignty, has an unambiguously negative effect on its image among Kazakhstanis; and (5) that the resulting relatively negative image of the United States translates into reluctance to build or maintain ties with it. In conclusion, we highlight areas in which the United States–Kazakhstan cooperation is likely to receive a better reception.

Rice is the principle staple food for more than half of humankind. Frequently, productivity of rice is affected by low nitrogen in the soil and hence, for enhanced rice production it heavily relies on synthetic nitrogen fertilizers that beget economic and ecological costs. In this context, the interest in transferring legumelike biological nitrogen fixation capability to rice has increased lately. The rice-arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis is mediated by genes that are orthologous to legume-genes known to be essential constituents of the common symbiotic pathway (CSP) that facilitates the establishment of both rhizobial nitrogen fixation- and AMsymbioses in legumes. Particularly, DMI3 (Ca?2/- calmodulin-dependent serine/threonine protein kinase, CCaMK), a component of the CSP, was found to play a paramount role in promoting the development of both types of symbioses. In fact, expression of autoactive version of DMI3 was shown to be sufficient to trigger downstream developmental processes leading to the induction of spontaneous nodulation in the absence of rhizobia. Hence, in the present investigation, we expressed in transgenic rice a gain-of-function Medicago truncatula DMI3T271D gene (gofMtDMI3) and assessed if legume-like symbiotic responses can be mimicked in rice roots. Ectopic expression of gofMtDMI3 in common bean induced spontaneous nodulation in the roots in the absence of rhizobia, but in rice plants it did not produce any such legume-like nodular manifestations. Conversely, the expression of gofMtDMI3 supported elevated AM colonization in rice roots that could improve plant nutrition/growth. In addition, gofMtDMI3 expression induced higher transcript levels of the CSP orthologues OsDMI3, OsIPD3 and OsNSP1, as well as triggered changes in the expression of several genes involved in biotic and abiotic stress responses. Our results with gofMtDMI3 lay the basis for the potential development of a biotechnological approach towards improvement of rice production.

Gamification, or the use of game-design elements in non-game contexts, is an emerging trend and a widely discussed topic. When gamification is properly applied, it contributes to the engagement and motivation of people in various fields, like business, marketing, or education. Especially in education, it is perceived as being a very effective method to turn a task into an exciting experience. But the challenge of bringing gamification into education is to find the right design for it. It is necessary, to generate a learning situation that students perceive as engaging and motivating, and that is always situation-specific. Especially culture influences the choice of the favored learning method and also the development of learning styles over time. The aim of this master’s thesis is to compare the students’ perception of gamification between the University of Graz (Austria) and the Chungbuk National University (South Korea). In particular, to show whether students of both universities differ regarding which gamification elements they are more receptive to. Furthermore, to get an insight whether students already experienced gamification elements at university. If so, to compare how students perceived them. The results of the study should provide approaches for the proper expansion or implementation of gamification elements at both universities, to increase the engagement and motivation of students. The study should cover 100 answered standardized questionnaires per university, to show differences and find approaches for the implementation or expansion of gamification in the courses.
