Ingenol mebutate (IM) is approved for the treatment of actinic keratosis and induces cell death in precancerous lesions. The efficacy of IM in the treatment of genital warts was investigated in a therapy-refractory patient. The 74-year-old male was treated with IM gel for three consecutive days. Treatment course and efficacy were evaluated by clinical inspection and non-invasive diagnostics namely optical coherence tomography (OCT) and reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM). Within 24 to 48 hours IM induced a strong local inflammatory reaction. One week later a complete response was observed. OCT and RCM showed a strong reaction after treatment with erosions, swelling of cells, and a subepidermal dark band in representative lesions. IM has the advantage of a short treatment period in contrast to other topical treatments and shows a promising clinical outcome. Larger studies are needed to validate the data.

The design of computer-based instrumentation and control (I&C) systems is determined by the allocation of I&C functionsto I&C systems and components. Due to the characteristics of computer-based technology, component failures can negativelyaffect several I&C functions, so that the reliability proof of the I&C systems requires the accomplishment of I&C systemdesign analyses throughout the I&C life-cycle. On one hand, this paper proposes the restructuring of the sequential IEC 61513 I&C life-cycle according to the V-model,so as to adequately integrate the concept of verification and validation. On the other hand, based on a metamodel for themodeling of I&C systems, this paper introduces a method for the modeling and analysis of the effects with respect to thesuperposition of failure combinations and event sequences on the I&C system design, i.e. the temporal change of physicalstructure is analyzed. In the first step, the method is concerned with the modeling of the I&C systems. In the second step, themethod considers the analysis of temporal change of physical structure, which integrates the concepts of the diversity anddefense-in-depth analysis, fault tree analysis, event tree analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis.
Drives and Motion Control Teaching based on Distance Laboratory and Remote Experiments

This paper presents the organisation and the technical structure of a remote controlled laboratory in the field of high dynamic drives and motion control. It is part of the PEMCWebLab project with the goal of providing students with practical experience on real systems in the field of power electronics and drives. The whole project is based on clear targets and leading ideas. A set of experiments can be remotely performed on a real system to stepwise identify a two axes positioning system and to design different cascaded control loops. Each single experiment is defined by its goals, the content of how to achieve them, and a verification of the results as well as the achieved learning outcomes. After a short description of the PEMCWebLab project, the structure of the remote control is presented together with the hardware applied. One important point is error handling as real machines and power electronics are applied. Finally, a selection of experiments is presented to show the graphical user interface and the sequence of the laboratory.

Navigation is one of the key topics in the field of mobile robotics. In many areas of application like Industry 4.0 or fully automated parking, additional external sensors are available as well as pre-existing knowledge about the general building structure. This information is of significant advantage, especially in situations where the perceptive field of the mobile platform is occluded. One method to gain the required information is the probabilistic concept of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). However, most existing approaches generally lack the possibility to incorporate preexisting and external information. In this paper, a solution to the SLAM problem based on a Rao-Blackwellized particle filter is adopted to provide efficient means for exploiting such data. We present an approach that directly incorporates environment knowledge using a context-aware environment model, while establishing reference to a global coordinate frame allowing for a straight-forward fusion with external information sources. The evaluation is performed on real-world data obtained by a mobile platform. The qualitative analysis shows significant improvement in map quality and robustness regarding short sensor outages or reduced perception rates. Establishing a uniform reference frame and reusing data, the proposed approach clearly extends the functional range of SLAM, demonstrating substantial advantages over existing methods.
An Antimicrobial Peptide with a Role in Inflammatory Skin Disease
( Markus Reinholz ),( Thomas Ruzicka ),( Jurgen Schauber ) 대한피부과학회 2012 Annals of Dermatology Vol.24 No.2
Chronic inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea are very common. Although their exact pathogenesis is not completely understood all three diseases are characterized by dysregulation of cutaneous innate immunity. Cathelicidin LL-37 is an important effector molecule of innate immunity in the skin and atopic dermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea show defects in cathelicidin expression, function or processing. In atopic dermatitis, cathelicidin induction might be disturbed resulting in defective antimicrobial barrier function. In contrast, psoriasis is characterized by overexpression of cathelicidin. However to date it is unclear whether pro- or anti- inflammatory functions of cathelicidin predominate in lesional skin in psoriasis. In rosacea, cathelicidin processing is disturbed resulting in peptide fragments causing inflammation, erythema and telangiectasias. In this review, the current evidence on the role of cathelicidin LL-37 in the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin diseases will be outlined. As cathelicidin LL-37 might also serve as a future treatment target potential novel treatment strategies for those diseases will be discussed. (Ann Dermatol 24(2) 126∼135, 2012)

Although the outward migration of North Korean refugees has received increasing attention in scholarly circles, little research has been done on migration to North Korea. Drawing on ethnographic and archival research, this article considers the changing political identification of migrants from Japan to North Korea, from 1959 to the 1980s, and their relationship to both the ethnic homeland and the former colonizer. The author suggests that the North Korean state’s effort to contain the imagined threat posed by arrivals from Japan was undermined by transnational exchange between divided families. Specifically, women on both sides of the Sea of Japan (East Sea) engaged in kin work that alerted ethnic Korean immigrants to their ambiguous status as both fraternal comrade and outsider in North Korea. This article illustrates how mobility provided opportunities for new identities to emerge, as individuals who considered themselves Korean compatriots developed identifications that translocally connected them to kin and communities in Japan.
