An Integrated Design of Planar Three-dimensional Magnetometers Powered by Novel Flux Guides

Van Su Luong 한국자기학회 2020 Journal of Magnetics Vol.25 No.3

This paper presents a new framework for integrating a planar three-dimensional (3D) magnetometer, featuring high accuracy and reduced size. Sensing elements in this design are magnetoresistance (GMR) sensors, which generally exhibit good in-plane sensitivity but limiting performance when working out-of-plane. Therefore, to improve the out-of-plane sensing ability of the GMR sensors, we design a flux guide (FG) to redirect the out-of-plane magnetic field component to the sensitive plane of the sensors. In doing so, a Ni-Zn cubic FG, combined with a full-bridge of GMR, is exploited for z-sensing axis detection. The cross-detection minimization of in-plane magnetic fields is optimized by an FG rotated by 45o in the x-y axes. Moreover, for boosting the planar sensitivity, two half-bridge GMRs are incorporated into a cross-shaped flux concentrator, working as a fullbridge sensor. The performance of the proposed design is simulated, as well as estimated the sensing features.

      • Anti-inflammatory compounds from Ampelopsis cantoniensis.

        Van Thu, Nguyen,Cuong, To Dao,Hung, Tran Manh,Van Luong, Hoang,Woo, Mi Hee,Choi, Jae Su,Lee, Jeong-Hyung,Kim, Jeong Ah,Min, Byung Sun Natural Product Communications 2015 Natural product communications Vol.10 No.3

<P>Many natural products have been shown to have an inhibitory effect on nitric oxide (NO), and are used as chemotherapy agents for inflammation disease. The current study was designed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of chemical components from the leaves of Ampelopsis cantoniensis. Sixteen compounds (1-16) were isolated and identified. Phloretin (5) and 5,7,3',5'-tetrahydroxyflavanone (16) inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production with IC50 values of 5.2, and 18.5 μM, respectively. The inhibitory effect of compounds 5 and 16 were accompanied by dose-dependent decreases in LPS-induced nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in RAW 264.7 cells, respectively. This study investigated the significant anti-inflammatory properties of isolated compounds from the leaves of A. cantoniensis for the first time. The findings demonstrate that A. cantoniensis could be used beneficially in the treatment of inflammation disease.</P>

      • Efficient Single Vessel Multi-enzymatic Glycosylation for Bioconversion of Tetracyclines Antibiotics to Novel Glucoside Derivatives

        Luan Luong Chu,Ramesh Prasad Pandey,Tae-Su Kim,Van Thuy Thi Pham,Jae Kyung Sohng 한국당과학회 2018 한국당과학회 학술대회 Vol.2018 No.01

Single vessel multi-enzyme UDP-α-D-glucose recycling system was coupled with a forward glucosylation reaction to produce glucose moiety conjugated novel derivatives of different tetracycline antibiotic analogues. Among five tetracycline analogues used for the reaction, four molecules (chlorotetracycline, doxytetracycline, meclotetracycline, and minotetracycline) were accepted by a glycosyltransferase enzyme, YjiC, from Bacillus licheniformis to produce glucoside derivatives. However, the enzyme was unable to conjugate sugar unit to rolitetracycline. All glucosides of tetracycline derivatives were characterized by ultraviolet absorbance maxima, ultra-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with photo-diode-array, and high-resolution quadruple time-of-flight electrospray mass spectrometry analyses. These synthesized glucosides are novel tetracycline derivatives. The conversion of tetracycline analogues to respective glucosides has been found to be very low yet. This gives the clue that the enzyme has low preferences toward tetracycline molecules. Attachment of bulky group in rolitetracycline might have prevented the molecule to reach the catalytic cleft of GT enzyme. Results of this research could become a basis to explore the possibility of synthesizing glucosylated derivatives of different tetracyclines using GT enzyme.

Inverse MR and Dual-AMR Phenomena in Co/CoO/Ag/Co Sandwiches

Nguyen Anh Tuan,Luong Van Su,Hoang Quoc Khanh,Nguyen Anh Tue,Nguyen Thi Luyen 한국물리학회 2018 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.72 No.7

Band-form Co/CoO/Ag/Co sandwiches were prepared using radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. The sandwiches had rather thick Co (tCO = 63 nm) and Ag (tAg = 2 ÷ 65 nm) layers and a super-thin paramagnetic cobalt monoxide (CoO) layer (< 1 nm) inserted in the Co/Ag interface. The sandwiches exhibited anomalous magnetoresistance (MR) behavior depending on the tAg value. Inverse magnetoresistance (IMR) effect was observed only at thin tAg values of 2 nm and 6 nm, whereas the dual-anisotropic MR (dual-AMR) occurred at thicker tAg values of 12 nm, 25 nm and 65 nm. A superposition of the dual-AMR and the weak IMR effects was obtained at the thickest Ag layer of 65 nm. The origin of these anomalous MR behaviors was discussed to show the prominent role of the CoO layer and large thickness of the Co and Ag layers.

Orthogonality Correction for Concentric Tri-axis Fluxgate Magnetometer

        Xuan Thang Trinh,Jen-Tzong Jeng,Chih-Cheng Lu,Van Su Luong 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.2

In this work, a compact tri-axis fluxgate magnetometer comprising a single magnetic core was implemented and the effectiveness of the orthogonality correction algorithm was demonstrated. The vector magnetometer consists of a tube-shaped soft magnetic flux chopper with a toroidal coil and three concentric pick-up coils. The tube-shaped flux chopper with magnet wires has the total dimension of 10 mm × 10 mm. The number of turns of the pick-up coils X-, Y-, and Z- are 110, 110 and 150, respectively. The center of flux chopper is also the geometric center of the three pick-up coils, of which the sensing directions are aligned along the Cartesian axes. The concentric design ensures a single field point for the three sensing axes. When using the tri-axis fluxgate magnetometer as an electronic compass, the geomagnetic field components converted from the demodulated outputs of the sensing coils shows high accuracy by using the voltage-to-field transfer matrix. The proposed fluxgate system is suitable for applications related to high-accuracy static magnetic field measurement, e.g. geomagnetic field monitoring, electronic compass, and magnetic field mapping.
