An Ecological Approach to Practicum Assessment

Linda Keesing Styles 한국유아교육학회 2000 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Vol.5 No.-

This paper attempts to identify some of the key issues related to one aspect of the practicum-the theory/practice dichotomy-and to proffer one potential alternative approach based on the experiences of the researcher in an early childhood teacher education program. This alternative is informed by postmodern critiques of curriculum and focuses specifically on ecological principles as an alternative influence on assessment in the practicum. The discussion highlights a number of the issues related to what constitutes theory and how it interacts with practice. Some traditional approaches are challenged and early childhood teacher educators are encouraged to incorporate innovative assessment practices in the practicum.

Proposed parameters of optimal central incisor positioning in orthodontic treatment planning: A systematic review

        Linda Sangalli,Domenico Dalessandri,Stefano Bonetti,Gualtiero Mandelli,Luca Visconti,Fabio Savoldi 대한치과교정학회 2022 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.52 No.1

Objective: Planning of incisal position is crucial for optimal orthodontic treatment outcomes due to its consequences on facial esthetics and occlusion. A systematic summary of the proposed parameters is presented. Methods: Studies on Google Scholar©, PubMed©, and Cochrane Library, providing quantitative information on optimal central incisor position were included. Results: Upper incisors supero-inferior position (4–5 mm to upper lip, 67–73 mm to axial plane through pupils), antero-posterior position (3–4 mm to Nasion-A, 3–6 mm to A-Pogonion, 9–12 mm to true vertical line, 5 mm to A-projection, 9–10 mm to coronal plane through pupils), bucco-lingual angulation (4–7° to occlusal plane perpendicular on models, 20–22° to Nasion-A, 57–58° to upper occlusal plane, 16–20° to coronal plane through pupils, 108–110° to anterior-posterior nasal spine), mesio-distal angulation (5° to occlusal plane perpendicular on models). Lower incisors supero-inferior position (41–48 mm to soft-tissue mandibular plane), antero-posterior position (3–4 mm to Nasion-B, 1–3 mm to A-Pogonion, 12–15 mm to true vertical line, 6–8 mm to coronal plane through pupils), bucco-lingual angulation (1-4° to occlusal plane perpendicular on models, 87–94° to mandibular plane, 68° to Frankfurt plane, 22–25° to Nasion-B, 105° to occlusal plane, 64° to lower occlusal plane, 21° to A-Pogonion), mesiodistal angulation (2° to occlusal plane perpendicular on models). Conclusions: Although these findings can provide clinical guideline, they derive from heterogeneous studies in terms of subject characteristics and reference methods. Therefore, the optimal incisal position remains debatable.

THE ECOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF NANOMATERIALS: A FOCUS ON AQUATIC LIFE

        LINDA ZICCARDI,MARGARET MCARDLE,YVETTE LOWNEY 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2008 NANO Vol.3 No.4

This paper provides an overview of current knowledge regarding the aquatic effects of nanomaterials. Aquatic receptors can potentially be exposed to nanoparticles through ingestion, movement across gills, passive transport, and cellular absorption. Our review indicates that the toxicological research on nanomaterials is still relatively narrow. The present research has been targeted primarily at understanding potential effects to humans, and relatively few ecotoxicity studies have been conducted; however, new research is evolving rapidly. The studies that are currently available focus on metal oxide particles, carbon nanotubes, and fullerenes. Aquatic tests have examined the uptake of these nanoparticles by fish and filter feeders, and have provided evidence of toxicity or behavioral changes. Some of these studies conclude that nanoparticles can be taken up by or produce effects in biota, and that dose-response relationships and patterns of relative toxicity among types of particles are emerging.Caution should be used in designing and interpreting studies on nanoparticles, because factors such as the particle medium preparation method, the presence of other chemicals, and particle behavior such as agglomeration can influence exposure and aquatic toxicity. Ultimately, the objectives of this review are to expand our knowledge of the effects of nanomaterials on ecological processes and aquatic receptor populations, as well as help guide future research.

Use of Social Media by Small Fashion Retailers and Their Customer Engagement

Linda Manikowske,Jaeha Lee,박광수 한국복식학회 2019 International journal of costume and fashion Vol.19 No.1

Social media platforms have become an integral part of fashion retailers’ marketing mix in the past decade. For small fashion retailers whose resources are often limited, social media can enhance customer outreach at little cost. This study was designed to investigate small fashion retailers’ use of Facebook and consumer engagement on their Facebook pages using a case study approach. This case study approach utilized mixed methods including a literature review, interviews, and data mining using Netvizz v1.44. Five small fashion retailers were interviewed and 4,215 postings on Facebook pages were analyzed for nine small fashion retailers located in two Midwestern U.S. cities. Descriptive statistics and ANOVAs were used to analyze the quantitative data collected from the Facebook pages. This study showed the importance of the use of Facebook and its benefits to small fashion retailers. The majority of the small fashion retailers’ posts were photos and marketer-generated-content (MGC). Small fashion retailers should use various types of posts (e.g., photos, videos, links) and encourage consumer engagement on their Facebook pages. This study found that consumers engage more with small fashion retailers’ Facebook pages during specific months and on specific days.
