        Song, Chiang-Soon,Lim, Jae-Heon,Jeon, Byeong-Hyeon,Lee, Hye-Sun Korea Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation As 2019 PNF and Movement Vol.17 No.2

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of a virtual upper extremity training program using the RAPAEL Smart Glove on upper extremity function in stroke survivors with chronic hemiparesis and to focus the training program development using the Smart Glove as a feasibility study. Methods: This study was conducted using a single group and pre-post test research design in the outpatient departments of local rehabilitation units. Ten chronic hemiparetic stroke survivors with a diagnosis of first stroke received therapeutic rehabilitation at the rehabilitation units. All the participants used a virtual reality program with the RAPAEL Smart Glove for 30 minutes per session 3 days a week over 8 weeks. They also received conventional occupational therapy with functional electrical stimulation for 40 minutes per session 3 days a week for 8 weeks as an additional therapy. To analyze the effects of this therapeutic intervention, four clinical measures, including the box-block test (BBT), the Wolf motor function test (WMFT), the trail-making score, the Jebsen Taylor hand function test (JTHFT), and grip strength, were used. Results: Upon completion of the intervention in week 8, all the participants demonstrated significant WMFT, JTT, BBT, grip strength, and trail-making score gains compared to the respective baselines at week 0. Conclusion: This study suggests that virtual upper extremity training using the RAPAEL Smart Glove has a reasonable and beneficial effects on upper extremity function in chronic hemiparetic stroke survivors.

      • 규칙 집합 학습에서의 개체 정보 극대화 알고리즘

        송두현,임순범 建國大學校 自然科學硏究所 2000 建國自然科學硏究誌 Vol.11 No.-

Machine learning, as to find a definition of unknown function, usually separates the training example set as the set of rules it induces grows. Two popular strategies, "divide and conquer" and "separate and conquer", pay for the schemes as getting inaccurate for the domains whose training set size is relatively small or as enhancing "small disjunct" problem. One way of alleviating the problem is to use entity information as maximum-not to exclude any example during training. LERUS(Learning Entire Rules Set) algorithm we propose here gives an idea how to avoid the learning anomaly while using maximum information. The result shows that LERUS is as competitive as CN2 for most learning domains and is superior to domains whose size of training set is small or reportedly conspicious as noisy. We hope this strategy could be helpful for domains of medical chemistry or related fields whose characteristic is noisy and relatively less experiment result is available.

Delphinidin inhibits BDNF-induced migration and invasion in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells

        Lim, Won-Chul,Kim, Hyunhee,Kim, Young-Joo,Park, Seung-Ho,Song, Ji-Hye,Lee, Ki Heon,Lee, In Ho,Lee, Yoo-Kyung,So, Kyeong A.,Choi, Kyung-Chul,Ko, Hyeonseok Elsevier 2017 Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters Vol.27 No.23

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), the TrkB ligand, is associated with aggressive malignant behavior, including migration and invasion, in tumor cells and a poor prognosis in patients with various types of cancer. Delphinidin is a diphenylpropane-based polyphenolic ring structure-harboring compound, which exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities, anti-tumor, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-angiogenic and anti-mutagenic activity. However, the possible role of delphinidin in the cancer migration and invasion is unclear. We investigated the suppressive effect of delphinidin on the cancer migration and invasion. Thus, we found that BDNF enhanced cancer migration and invasion in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cell. To exam the inhibitory role of delphinidin in SKOV3 ovarian cancer migration and invasion, we investigated the use of delphinidin as inhibitors of BDNF-induced motility and invasiveness in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells <I>in vitro</I>. Here, we found that delphinidin prominently inhibited the BDNF-induced increase in cell migration and invasion of SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells. Furthermore, delphinidin remarkably inhibited BDNF-stimulated expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. Also, delphinidin antagonized the phosphorylation of Akt and nuclear translocation of NF-κB permitted by the BDNF in SKOV3 ovarian cancer cells. Taken together, our findings provide new evidence that delphinidin suppressed the BDNF-induced ovarian cancer migration and invasion through decreasing of Akt activation.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

Effects of Glasswort (Salicornia herbacea L.) Hydrates on Quality Characteristics of Reduced-salt, Reduced-fat Frankfurters

        Lim, Yun-Bin,Kim, Hyun-Wook,Hwang, Ko-Eun,Song, Dong-Heon,Kim, Yong-Jae,Ham, Youn-Kyung,Jang, Sung-Jin,Lee, Choong-Hee,He, Fu-Yi,Choi, Yun-Sang,Kim, Cheon-Jei Korean Society for Food Science of Animal Resource 2015 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.35 No.6

Abstract This study evaluated the effects of adding glasswort hydrate containing non-meat ingredient (GM, carboxy methyl cellulose; GC, carrageenan; GI, isolated soy protein; GS, sodium caseinate) on the quality characteristics of reduced-salt, reduced-fat frankfurters. The pH and color evaluation showed significant differences, depending on the type of glasswort hydrate added (p<0.05). In the raw batters and cooked frankfurters, the addition of glasswort hydrate decreased the redness and increased the yellowness in comparison with frankfurters without glasswort hydrate. The reduction in salt and fat content significantly increased cooking loss and decreased hardness, tenderness and juiciness (p<0.05). Glasswort hydrate containing non-meat ingredient improved cooking loss, water holding capacity, emulsion stability, hardness, and viscosity of reduced-salt, reduced-fat frankfurters. The GM treatment had the highest myofibiliar protein solubility among all treatments, which was associated with emulsion stability and viscosity. The GC treatment had higher values for all texture parameters than the control. In the sensory evaluation, the addition of glasswort hydrate with non-meat ingredient improved tenderness and juiciness of reduced-salt, reduced-fat frankfurters. GM, GC, and GI treatments improved not only the physicochemical properties but also the sensory characteristics of reduced-salt, reduced-fat frankfurters. The results indicated that the use of glasswort hydrate containing non-meat ingredient was improved the quality characteristics of reduced-salt, reduced-fat frankfurters.

측두하악장애 환자 중 하악과두의 퇴행성 골 변화를 보이는 환자의 분포 및 임상적 특징

        임용규,김민지,김연중,송윤헌,이동렬 대한치과교정학회 2006 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.36 No.6

(대치교정지 2006;36(6):402-11) Objective: This study was carried out to evaluate the distribution and clinical features of patients with degenerative change of the mandibular condyle. Methods: Six thousand and seventy patients with TMD (temporomandibular disorder) were selected for this study, who had complete initial clinical records and radiographs. Panorama and TMJ panorama radiographs were used to screen the degenerative change in the condyle, and the patients were divided into DJD (degenerative joint disease) and non-DJD groups. Results: The distribution and clinical features of the two groups were compared. Out of the total number of patients, 31.7% were in the DJD group, and 68.3% were in the non-DJD group. The portion of females was larger in the DJD group (80.8%) than in the non-DJD group (67.5%), and the DJD group had high prevalence in the second and third decades. Lack of incisal contact, retrusive chin, facial asymmetry, and mouth opening limitation were the chief complaints of the patients who had positive relation to DJD. Conclusion: Patients with an orthodontic treatment history, CO-CR discrepancy and crepitation were at possible risk of having DJD. (Korean J Orthod 2006;36(6):402-11)

Selective growth of vertical ZnO nanowires with the control of hydrothermal synthesis and nano-imprint technology.

Song, Jaejin,Baek, Seonghoon,Lee, Heon,Lim, Sangwoo American Scientific Publishers 2009 Journal of nanoscience and nanotechnology Vol.9 No.6

<P>Nano-imprint technology is one of the most advanced technologies for the fabrication of nano-size patterning. In this study, nano-imprint technology was used for the selective growth of ZnO nanowires on the Si wafer. When the poly methyl-methacrylate (PMMA) was first patterned by a nano-imprint process and ZnO seed layer was deposited and patterned by lift-off, ZnO nanowires were not vertically grown on the whole area of the patterned seed layer. Synthesis in zinc sulfate solution exhibited well-structured ZnO nanowires compared to the zinc nitrate solution, but uniformly aligned vertical growth of ZnO nanowires was not observed in either cases. On the other hand, when the PMMA was patterned using a nano-imprint process in the presence of seed layer, and ZnO nanowires were synthesized in zinc sulfate solution, selective growth of vertically aligned ZnO nanowires on 0.5 microm pattern sizes was achieved. The observation in this study suggests that the selective growth of ZnO nanowires on a defined pattern size can be obtained with the modification of pattering sequence and the control of low temperature hydrothermal synthesis of ZnO nanowires.</P>
