Structure and Performances of xLiFePO4/C·(1 − x)Li3V2(PO4)3/C Cathode for Lithium-Ion Batteries by Using Poly(vinyl alcohol) as Carbon Source

        Chang-ling Fan,Wei-hua Zhang,Tao-tao Zeng,Ling-fang Li,Xiang Zhang,Shao-chang Han 대한화학회 2015 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.36 No.11

Poly(vinyl alcohol), whose pyrolysis carbon possesses high conductivity of 8.88 × 10−1 S/cm, was used to synthesize xLiFePO4/C·(1 − x)Li3V2(PO4)3/C cathode. It was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, conductivity, cyclic voltammetry, and galvanostatic charge and discharge experiments. Results show that LiFePO4/C and Li3V2(PO4)3/C coexists in the cathode. The particles sizes of 0.75LiFePO4/C·0.25Li3V2(PO4)3/C (x = 0.75) are much smaller than 100 nm due to the role of poly(vinyl alcohol). Its conductivity is 8.79 × 10−2 S/cm. The oxidative and reductive peaks in cyclic voltammetry are sharp and symmetrical. Their low potential gaps indicate that the extractions and insertions of lithium ion possess excellent reversibility. Its discharge capacities at 1 and 5 C are 141.1 and 100.1 mAh/g. The more Li3V2(PO4)3/C in cathode results in the deterioration of electrochemical performances due to its low theoretical capacity. It is concluded that poly(vinyl alcohol) is an effective carbon source in the preparation of xLiFePO4/C·(1 − x)Li3V2(PO4)3/C composite cathode with excellent performances.

      • Solid-state dissimilar joining of stainless steel 316L and Inconel 718 alloys by electrically assisted pressure joining

        Li, Yong-Fang,Hong, Sung-Tae,Choi, Howook,Han, Heung Nam Elsevier 2019 Materials characterization Vol.154 No.-

Abstract

Electrically assisted solid-state joining (or electrically assisted pressure joining, EAPJ) of dissimilar stainless steel 316L (SUS316L) and Inconel 718 (IN718) alloys is experimentally investigated. The specimen assembly for the experiment is comprised of two cylindrical solid specimens (SUS316L and IN718) with an identical geometry. In EAPJ, electric current and plastic compression are directly and simultaneously applied to the specimen assembly. The microstructural analysis confirms that crack/void-free joints are successfully fabricated by EAPJ in the selected dissimilar metal alloys without melting and solidification. An obvious atomic diffusion region at the joint interface is identified. The results of tensile tests show that all the joints fracture from the SUS316L side, which undergoes typical ductile fracture with large plastic deformation. The results of the present study confirm that the concept of EAPJ is applicable to solid state joining of dissimilar material combination.

Highlights

Electrically assisted pressure joining of dissimilar metal alloys was conducted.

Joining temperature was significantly lower than the melting temperatures.

Solid state joint of stainless steel 316L and Inconel 718 alloys was fabricated.

Tensile tests confirm the soundness of joints; no interfacial fracture occurred.

      • Electrically assisted pressure joining of titanium alloys

Li, Yong-Fang,Das, Hrishikesh,Hong, Sung-Tae,Park, Ju-Won,Han, Heung Nam Elsevier 2018 Journal of manufacturing processes Vol.35 No.-

Abstract

Electrically assisted pressure joining (EAPJ) of a Grade 1 titanium (Ti) alloy is experimentally investigated. In EAPJ, an electric current is directly applied to the specimen during plastic compression. Microstructural analysis shows that solid-state joints are successfully fabricated in the selected Ti alloy without melting. Shear tensile tests shows that the strength and fracture modes of the joint are strongly affected by a combination of the amount of plastic deformation (corresponding to a thickness reduction) and the electric current intensity. An optimal thickness reduction, corresponding to the maximum fracture load, exists for each value of current intensity, and decreases as current intensity increases. A higher fracture load can be obtained by adjusting the combination of the current intensity and the thickness reduction parameters.

Highlights

Ti alloy are solid-state joined by electrically assisted pressure joining (EAPJ).

The strength and fracture mode of the joint are affected by the EAPJ parameters.

An optimal thickness reduction exists for each value of current intensity.

The optimal thickness reduction decreases as the current intensity increases.

Ginsenoside Rg1 alleviates A deposition by inhibiting NADPH oxidase 2 activation in APP/PS1 mice

        Han Zhang,Yong Su,Zhenghao Sun,Ming Chen,Yuli Han,Yan Li,Xianan Dong,Shixin Ding,Zhirui Fang,Weiping Li,Weizu Li 고려인삼학회 2021 Journal of Ginseng Research Vol.45 No.6

Background: Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1), an active ingredient in ginseng, may be a potential agent for thetreatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). However, the protective effect of Rg1 on neurodegeneration in ADand its mechanism of action are still incompletely understood. Methods: Wild type (WT) and APP/PS1 AD mice, from 6 to 9 months old, were used in the experiment. The open field test (OFT) and Morris water maze (MWM) were used to detect behavioral changes. Neuronal damage was assessed by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and Nissl staining. Immunofluorescence, western blotting, and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (q-PCR) were used toexamine postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95) expression, amyloid beta (Ab) deposition, Tau and phosphorylatedTau (p-Tau) expression, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and NAPDH oxidase 2(NOX2) expression. Results: Rg1 treatment for 12 weeks significantly ameliorated cognitive impairments and neuronaldamage and decreased the p-Tau level, amyloid precursor protein (APP) expression, and Ab generation inAPP/PS1 mice. Meanwhile, Rg1 treatment significantly decreased the ROS level and NOX2 expression inthe hippocampus and cortex of APP/PS1 mice. Conclusions: Rg1 alleviates cognitive impairments, neuronal damage, and reduce Ab deposition byinhibiting NOX2 activation in APP/PS1 mice.

Study on the role of gga-miRNA-200a in regulating cell differentiation and proliferation of chicken breast muscle by targeting Grb2

        Keren Jiang,Fengbin Yan,Meng Zhang,Fang Li,Donghua Li,Guirong Sun,Xiaojun Liu,Hong Li,Ruili Han,Ruirui Jiang,Zhuanjian Li,Xiangtao Kang 한국통합생물학회 2017 Animal cells and systems Vol.21 No.6

Growth factor receptor-bound protein 2 (Grb2) have been proved by a lot of studies playing a major role in cell proliferation and cell differentiation. However, the regulation of Grb2 expression by microRNAs (miRNAs) in chicken breast muscle still remains unknown. The expression profile of Grb2 was checked based on our previous RNA sequencing data and the Grb2 relative expression level in breast muscle of aged hens (55-week-old) was validated significantly higher than juvenile hens (20-week-old) using qRT-PCR. miRNAs that interact with Grb2 have been predicted in chicken and the relationship between the potential miRNA and Grb2 was verified using dual luciferase reporter assay in chicken DF1 cells. Dual-luciferase reporter assays results demonstrated that the expression of luciferase reporter gene linked with part sequence of the 3′UTR of chicken Grb2 gene was down-regulated by the overexpression of gga (Gallus Gallus)- miR-200a-3p in the DF1 cells, and the down-regulation behavior was abolished when the ggamiR- 200a-3p binding site in 3′UTR of Grb2 was mutated, indicating that gga-miR-200a can suppress the expression level of its target gene Grb2. Therefore, we concluded that the significantly increased expression level of Grb2 in the breast muscle of aged chicken can (at least partly can) be explained by the decreased expression of miR-200a, which reduced the inhibitory effect on Grb2. Taken together, these findings suggest that gga-miR-200a can suppress the expression level of its target gene Grb2 and might be involved in the cell differentiation and proliferation of chicken breast muscle through binding with the 3’UTR of Grb2.

Chemistry Study on Protective Effect against·OH-induced DNA Damage and Antioxidant Mechanism of Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis

        Li, Xican,Fang, Qian,Lin, Jing,Yuan, Zhengpeng,Han, Lu,Gao, Yaoxiang Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.1

As a Chinese herbal medicine used in East Asia for thousands years, Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis (CMO) was observed to possess a protective effect against OH-induced DNA damage in the study. To explore the mechanism, the antioxidant effects and chemical contents of five CMO extracts were determined by various methods. On the basis of mechanistic analysis, and correlation analysis between antioxidant effects & chemical contents, it can be concluded that CMO exhibits a protective effect against OH-induced DNA damage, and the effect can be attributed to the existence of phenolic compounds, especially magnolol and honokiol. They exert the protective effect via antioxidant mechanism which may be mediated via hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) and/or sequential electron proton transfer (SEPT). In the process, the phenolic-OH moiety in phenylpropanoids is oxidized to the stable quinine-like form and the stability of quinine-like can be ultimately responsible for the antioxidant.

      • Validity and Necessity of Sub-classification of N3 in the 7th UICC TNM Stage of Gastric Cancer

Li, Fang-Xuan,Zhang, Ru-Peng,Liang, Han,Quan, Ji-Chuan,Liu, Hui,Zhang, Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3

Background: The $7^{th}$ TNM staging is the first authoritative standard for evaluation of effectiveness of treatment of gastric cancer worldwide. However, revision of pN classification within TNM needs to be discussed. In particular, the N3 sub-stage is becoming more conspicuous. Methods: Clinical data of 302 pN3M0 stage gastric cancer patients who received radical gastrectomy in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from January 2001 to May 2006 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Location of tumor, depth of invasion, extranodal metastasis, gastric resection, combined organs resection, lymph node metastasis, rate of lymph node metastasis, negative lymph nodes count were important prognostic factors of pN3M0 stage gastric cancers. TNM stage was also associated with prognosis. Patients at T2N3M0 stage had a better prognosis than other sub-classification. T3N3M0 and T4aN3aM0 patients had equal prognosis which followed the T2N3M0. T4aN3bM0 and T4bN3aM0 had lower survival rate than the formers. T4bN3bM0 had worst prognosis. In multivariate analysis, TNM stage group and rate of lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors. Conclusions: The sub-stage of N3 may be useful for more accurate prediction of prognosis; it should therefore be applied in the TNM stage system.

      • Polysaccharide from Polygonatum Inhibits the Proliferation of Prostate Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts Cells

        Han, Shu-Yu,Hu, Ming-Hua,Qi, Guan-Yun,Ma, Chao-Xiong,Wang, Yuan-Yuan,Ma, Fang-Li,Tao, Ning,Qin, Zhi-Hai Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.8

Inhibition of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) may improve the efficacy of cancer therapy. Polysaccharide extracted from polygonatum can selectively inhibit the growth of prostate-CAFs (p<0.001) without inhibiting the growth of normal fibroblasts (NAFs). Polysaccharides from polygonatum stimulate autophagy of prostate-CAFs. 3-methyl-adenine(3-MA) is an autophagy inhibitor. 3-MA was added to prostate-CAFs with polysaccharide from polygonatum to determine whether autophagy plays an important role in the restrained effect. Finally, polysaccharide from polygonatum treatment significantly increased the activation of Beclin-1 and LC3, key autophagy proteins. Polysaccharide from polygonatum stimulates autophagy of prostate-CAFs and inhibits prostate-CAF growth, indicating that a novel anti-cancer strategy involves inhibiting the growth of prostate-CAFs.

      • MiRNA-15a Mediates Cell Cycle Arrest and Potentiates Apoptosis in Breast Cancer Cells by Targeting Synuclein-γ

        Li, Ping,Xie, Xiao-Bing,Chen, Qian,Pang, Guo-Lian,Luo, Wan,Tu, Jian-Cheng,Zheng, Fang,Liu, Song-Mei,Han, Lu,Zhang, Jian-Kun,Luo, Xian-Yong,Zhou, Xin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.16

Background: Recent studies have indicated that microRNA-15a (miR-15a) is dysregulated in breast cancer (BC). We aimed to evaluate the expression of miR-15a in BC tissues and corresponding para-carcinoma tissues. We also focused on effects of miR-15a on cellular behavior of MDA-MB-231 and expression of its target gene synuclein-${\gamma}$ (SNCG). Materials and Methods: The expression levels of miR-15a were analysed in BC formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues by microarray and quantitative real-time PCR. CCK-8 assays, cell cycle and apoptosis assays were used to explore the potential functions of miR-15a in MDA-MB-231 human BC cells. A luciferase reporter assay confirmed direct targets. Results: Downregulation of miR-15a was detected in most primary BCs. Ectopic expression of miR-15a promoted proliferation and suppressed apoptosis in vivo. Further studies indicated that miR-15a may directly interact with the 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of SNCG mRNA, downregulating its mRNA and protein expression levels. SNCG expression was negatively correlated with miR-15a expression. Conclusions: MiR-15a has a critical role in mediating cell cycle arrest and promoting cell apoptosis of BC, probably by directly targeting SNCG. Thus, it may be involved in development and progression of BC.
