      • 한우 거세우의 계절별 개체유지 행동 및 사회 행동 특성

        This study was carried out to determine the maintenance and social behavior characteristics of Hanwoo steers by season. Forty eight Hanwoo steers were video-recorded at 15, 17 and 19 months of age for behavior measurement. Hanwoo steers spent more feeding time (p<0.05) in autumn than in summer and/or winter. Standing time was linearly increased (p<0.05) along with seasonal transition, from summer to winter. The rice straw intake speed was the fastest the summer, whereas the concentrate intake speed was relatively fast in winter. Furthermore, Hanwoo steers showed more behavior time and count for lying down (p<0.05) and drinking (p<0.05) in summer than in autumn and winter. Also, Hanwoo steers spent less count (p<0.05) self grooming and scratching in summer.

      • 포조란, 유기태 크롬 및 옻사료의 급여가 거세한우 비육말기 산육특성에 미치는 영향

        This study was to invesigate the effect of dietary supplemention of Pozzolan, Chromium-methionine chelate and rhus verniciflua stokes additive feed on growth performance and ultrasound live body characteristics in finishing Hanwoo steer. The animal used in the experiment were a total of 17 heads and weighted 577.09±35.90㎏. The experimental diets were basal hi-lok branded only concentrat and rice straw and 4% Rhus, 0.4% Cramin and 2% Pozzolan, which additice in basal diet. Individually average daily gain was tended to decreased with treated group. Ultrasound back fat thickness and marbling score were not significantly different(p<0.05)between teratment, however Pozzolan additive treat was showed tend to increased. Longissimus muscle area was showed tended to decreased in the Pozzolan treatment.

      • 한우 거세우의 군집크기에 따른 산육특성 연구

        본 시험은 한우 거세우의 군집의 크기가 산육특성에 미치는 영향에 대하여 알아보고자 실시하였다. 일반 사육농가의 거세 비육우 48두를 $35.28\;m^2$에 4두를 배치(대조구; C), $70.56\;m^2$에 8두를 배치(처리구 1; $T_1$), $105.84\;m^2$에 12두(처리구 2; $T_2$)를 배치하여 체중과 초음파 진단장치를 이용하여 개체별 등지방두께, 배최장근단면적, 근내지방도의 분석과 도체 실측치를 이용하여 처리구별 산육특성을 비교하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면, 12두 처리구에서 조사료 섭식량이 가장 많았으나, 21개월령 우방 재구성 후에는 8두 처리구와 12두 처리구에서 섭취량이 낮게 나타났다. 전 기간에 걸쳐 처리구별 산육특성을 비교하였을 경우 육질등급에 중요한 영향을 미치는 근내지 방도의 경우 12두 처리구가 4두 처리구와 8두 처리구에 비하여 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 증체량에 있어서는 12두 처리구에서 가장 낮은 경향을 보였으나, 등심단면적, 근내지방도 등은 높은 경향을 나타냈다. 고급육 출현율에 있어서도 12두 처리구에서 87.4%로 4두 처리구의 62.5%와 8두 처리구 75.0%에 비하여 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때, 가장 넓은 사육공간에서 사육 된 12두 처리구에서 산육특성이 가장 좋은 것으로 판단되며 우방의 크기와 우방내 사육두수는 한우의 산육특성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서, 앞으로는 육성 기에서 비육기까지의 합사 관리 및 더 나아가 한국형 축사에 적합한 복지형 사육관리에 적절하게 이용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. This study, tasting 14 months, was conducted to investigate the effects of different pen size and group size on growing-fattening characteristics of Hanwoo steers. Forty-eight, 12-month-old Hanwoo steers($305.8{\pm}32.2\;kg$) were randomly assigned to three groups($35.28\;m^2$; n=4 heads, $70.56\;m^2$; n=8 heads, $105.84\;m^2$; n=12 heads) and reared in separate pens with a constant space allowance of $8.82m^2$ per head from 12 to 21 month of age and then regrouped to 4 heads per pen. A common diet including concentrate(limited) and forage(ad lib) was provided to all the animals. Images of live animal ultrasonic back fat thickness, longissimus muscle area and Marbling score were evaluated in three months interval from 12 months of age using an ultrasound equipment(HS-2000) at the 13th rib and lumber vertebra interface of left side. Significant differences of ADG was found mainly at $15{\sim}18$ month and $18{\sim}21$ month fattening stages(p<0.05). Marbling score(MS) was higher(p<0.05) in 12 heads group when compared with that of 4 and 8 heads groups after 18 months. Animals in 12 heads group had the lowest Average daily gain(ADG) but showed the highest longissimus muscle area(LMA) and marbling score(MS). In addition, Hanwoo steers in 12 heads group obtained a higher quality appearance(HQA) of 82.7% than that of other treatments. The results indicated that Hanwoo steers housed on large group size and pen size decreased their ADG but improved meat quality.

        <P><I>Yersinia pestis</I> is a Gram‐negative bacterium that causes plague. After <I>Y. pestis</I> overcomes the skin barrier, it encounters antigen‐presenting cells (APCs), such as Langerhans and dendritic cells. They transport the bacteria from the skin to the lymph nodes. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in bacterial transmission are unclear. Langerhans cells (LCs) express Langerin (CD207), a calcium‐dependent (C‐type) lectin. Furthermore, <I>Y. pestis</I> possesses exposed core oligosaccharides. In this study, we show that <I>Y. pestis</I> invades LCs and Langerin‐expressing transfectants. However, when the bacterial core oligosaccharides are shielded or truncated, <I>Y. pestis</I> propensity to invade Langerhans and Langerin‐expressing cells decreases. Moreover, the interaction of <I>Y. pestis</I> with Langerin‐expressing transfectants is inhibited by purified Langerin, a DC‐SIGN (DC‐specific intercellular adhesion molecule 3 grabbing nonintegrin)‐like molecule, an anti‐CD207 antibody, purified core oligosaccharides and several oligosaccharides. Furthermore, covering core oligosaccharides reduces the mortality associated with murine infection by adversely affecting the transmission of <I>Y. pestis</I> to lymph nodes. These results demonstrate that direct interaction of core oligosaccharides with Langerin facilitates the invasion of LCs by <I>Y. pestis</I>. Therefore, Langerin‐mediated binding of <I>Y. pestis</I> to APCs may promote its dissemination and infection.</P>
