In this study, we made investigation into water permeation, solute separation, concentration and Na^(+), K^(+), Mg^(2+), Ca^(2+), Cl^(-), SO^(2)_(4)-, HCO^(-)_(3) ions separation of seawater by the revers osmosis process using a suitable semipermeable membrane. The different thickness of membranes were prepared. On heat treatment, temperature was 80℃ and thier effects were also investigated. The flat single module system was made to be capable of treating feed solution at 200-2000cc/min and 120 atm. The experimental results can be summerized as follows: 1) As the effective operating pressure increased, permeability of pure water proportionally increased. 2) As the exposure period of the manufactured membrane in air increased, permeation rate increased, but as the thickness of the membrane increased, permeation rate decreased. 3) The capacity for being reproductive of the manufactured membrane (CA: 30wt%, Formamide: 45wt%, Acetone: 25wt%) in their performance was less than 10-30% and agreed with that reported in the literature. 4) We could separated about 85-95% of salt ion in seawater using a flat single module system.

Imaging plays a key role in the diagnosis and characterization of thyroid diseases, and the information provided by imaging studies is essential for management planning. A referral guideline for imaging studies may help physicians make reasonable decisions and minimize the number of unnecessary examinations. The Korean Society of Thyroid Radiology (KSThR) developed imaging guidelines for thyroid nodules and differentiated thyroid cancer using an adaptation process through a collaboration between the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency and the working group of KSThR, which is composed of radiologists specializing in thyroid imaging. When evidence is either insufficient or equivocal, expert opinion may supplement the available evidence for recommending imaging. Therefore, we suggest rating the appropriateness of imaging for specific clinical situations in this guideline.

Inositol pyrophosphates such as 5-diphosphoinositol pentakisphosphate (5-IP7) are highly energetic inositol metabolites containing phosphoanhydride bonds. Although inositol pyrophosphates are known to regulate various biological events, including growth, survival, and metabolism, the molecular sites of 5-IP7 action in vesicle trafficking have remained largely elusive. We report here that elevated 5-IP7 levels, caused by overexpression of inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6) kinase 1 (IP6K1), suppressed depolarization-induced neurotransmitter release from PC12 cells. Conversely, IP6K1 depletion decreased intracellular 5-IP7 concentrations, leading to increased neurotransmitter release. Consistently, knockdown of IP6K1 in cultured hippocampal neurons augmented action potential-driven synaptic vesicle exocytosis at synapses. Using a FRET-based in vitro vesicle fusion assay, we found that 5-IP7, but not 1-IP7, exhibited significantly higher inhibitory activity toward synaptic vesicle exocytosis than IP6. Synaptotagmin 1 (Syt1), a Ca2+ sensor essential for synaptic membrane fusion, was identified as a molecular target of 5-IP7. Notably, 5-IP7 showed a 45-fold higher binding affinity for Syt1 compared with IP6. In addition, 5-IP7-dependent inhibition of synaptic vesicle fusion was abolished by increasing Ca2+ levels. Thus, 5-IP7 appears to act through Syt1 binding to interfere with the fusogenic activity of Ca2+. These findings reveal a role of 5-IP7 as a potent inhibitor of Syt1 in controlling the synaptic exocytotic pathway and expand our understanding of the signaling mechanisms of inositol pyrophosphates.

Culinary department of college may gradually becoming up to the center of food science with the growing of the foodservice industry in the Korea. Espcailly, culinary department of hotel is expected to be the popular job by opening Cook Law. According to the change of perception on the culinary job, culinary department of college has to change from nonpopular department to popular department. From the view of these changes, this study analyzes the curriculum in culinary department of college which hotel and foodservice industry desire. curriculum in culinary department of college can be consist of various teaching objectives, teaching contents, and teaching styles. But curriculum must be consist of teaching objective, teaching content, and teaching style which hotel and foodservice industry desire. This study measured on the response of the hotel and foodservice industry on the curriculum in culinary department of A college. Based on the measuring, this study presented the suggestions on the curriculum as follows. First, to provide the information on the selection of new employee in the hotel and foodservice industry. Second, maintenance and inprovement of teaching objective, teaching content, and teaching style. Finally, on the basis of this study, the careful studies on the curriculum development in culinary department of college have to be followed in the future

The purpose of this study is causal relationship using Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award(MBNQA) to estimate the Korean low cost carriers. The survey instrument consists of 98 questions from the seven the MBNQA business criteria. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to estimates the path coefficients among the seven categories. The result of this study indicates that Leadership drives Foundation, Direction, System, and Results. Conclusively, among 18 hypotheses, 15 hypotheses are statistically significant.

Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) is well known for detecting the presence of hemorrhagic transformation, microbleeds and the susceptibility of vessel signs in acute ischemic stroke. But in some cases, it can provide the tissue perfusion state as well. We describe a case of a patient with hyperacute ischemic infarction that had a slightly hypodense, patchy lesion at the left thalamus on the initial SWI, with a left proximal posterior cerebral artery occlusion on a magnetic resonance (MR) angiography and delayed time-to-peak on an MR perfusion performed two hours after symptom onset. No obvious abnormal signals at any intensity were found on the initial diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI). On a follow-up MR image (MRI), an acute ischemic infarction was seen on DWI, which is the same location as the lesion on SWI. The hypointensity on the initial SWI reflects the susceptibility artifact caused by an increased deoxyhemoglobin in the affected tissue and vessels, which reflects the hypoperfusion state due to decreasing arterial flow. It precedes the signal change on DWI that reflects a cytotoxic edema. This case highlights that, in some hyperacute stages of ischemic stroke, hypointensity on an SWI may be a finding before the hyperintensity is seen on a DWI.
