For preparing a device-quality CuInSe2 (CISe) light-absorbing layer by single-bath electrodeposition for a superstrate-type CISe cell, morphological properties of the CISe layers were investigated by varying concentrations of sulfamic acid and potassium biphthalate, complexing/buffering agents. CISe films were grown on an In2Se3 film by applying a constant voltage of -0.5V versus Ag/AgCl for 90 min in a solution with precursors of CuCl2, InCl3, and SeO2, and a KCl electrolyte. A dense and smooth layer of CISe could be obtained with a solution containing both sulfamic acid and potassium biphthalate in a narrow concentration range of combination. A CISe layer prepared on the In2Se3 film with proper concentrations of complexing/buffering agents exhibited thickness of 1.6~1.8 μm with few undesirable secondary phases. On the other hand, when the bath solution did not contain either sulfamic acid or potassium biphthalate, a CISe film appeared to contain undesirable flake?shape Cu2-xSe phases or sparse pores in the upper part of film.
Effects of Leucocyanidines on Activities of Metabolizing Enzymes and Antioxidant Enzymes

Procyanidolic oligomers (leucocyanidines, LCs) extracted from grape seeds (Vitis vinifera) are known to have antioxidant and antimutagenic activities, and a protective effect against cardiovascular disease. In the present study we examined the influence of LCs on the activities of phase I enzymes and conjugation enzymes and on antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase. Administration of LCs(25, 50, and 100mg/kg, p.o. for 7d) markedly decreased the activities of NADPH-cytochrome P450 reductase, P4501A1, P4501A2, and P453A4, but signiticuntly increased the activities of glutachione S-transferase and phenolsulfotranxferase in rat liver. However, the activities of antioxidant enzymes were not affected by LC administration. The inhibition of P450s and increases in phase II enzyme activities indicate a role for LCs as a chemopreventive agent against toxic or carcinogenic metabolites of P450 isozymes.

Purpose: Recently, laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) has been widely performed in developed countries. In addition, minimally invasive surgery such as LA is a challenge to surgical residents. The aim of this study is to evaluate learning curve of residents in comparison to that of experienced surgeons. Methods: Fifty cases of LA that were performed by experienced surgeons (group A) and forty-seven cases of LA that were performed by 8 residents (group B) were reviewed retrospectively. Results: Operative time was longer in group B (50.8±12 vs. 82.8±40 min. P<0.001). Hospital days of group B was shorter (4.8±2.4 vs. 3.7±2.1 days P=0.021). No other parameters were statistically significant. In group A, wound infection developed in 1 case. In group B, wound infection developed in 4 cases, intraabdominal abscess in 1, subcutaneous emphysema in 1. Conclusion: Inexperienced surgeons can perform laparoscopic appendectomy easily in the early days of individual laparoscopic training course.
Flow learning 기반 기능성 게임 설계 방법론

기능성 게임의 학습효과에 기반한 다양한 교육용 프로그램이 개발되고 있다. 이들 프로그램은 학습효과 달성에 초점을 모은 나머지 흥미라는 게임 본연의 가치는 상대적으로 소홀히 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 기능성 게임의 교육적 방향성에 부합하면서 게임의 몰입을 유지할 수 있도록 도와주는 네 가지 요소를 제안하고, 그 실효성에 대해 실험을 진행하였다. 이 연구의 결과를 통하여 학습효과를 유지하면서 몰입을 도와주는 게임 요소들을 실험적으로 검증하였고, 이를 통하여 기능성 게임의 새로운 설계 방법론을 제안한다. A recent development of e-learning systems design has been made on gaming effects that enhance natural engagement with learning activities arising from the gaming experience. In so doing, at issue is how the learning objectives should be counterbalanced with the gaming effects that might move away people from the learning outcomes expected. The present study proposed a four-legged learning experience design framework that embraces these two goals (i.e., achieving learning objectives as well as better learning experience via playing games). An empirical study was carried out to validate this framework and how this framework would help HCI practitioners was also discussed.

Ultrabroadband Linear Power Amplifier Using a Frequency-Selective Analog Predistorter

<P>This brief presents an ultrabroadband (2- to 600-MHz band) linear power amplifier using a compact frequency-selective analog predistorter, which includes a capacitor having an optimized capacitance and a biased Schottky diode connected in series. It is shunted at the input of the main amplifier and has a frequency-selective third-order intermodulation generation capability using its optimized capacitance. A two-stage push-pull power amplifier, which has an ultrabroadband operation range from 2 to 600 MHz, was implemented and linearized using the proposed analog predistorter. It exhibited high 1-dB compression point (P1 dB) and power-added efficiency characteristics of over 43 dBm and 32% at each P1 dB for the entire operating band, respectively. At an average output power level of 36 dBm for the two-tone signal input, which has a tone spacing of 1 MHz, its third-order intermodulation distortion over the entire band is no higher than -39.1 dBc after linearization, as compared with -34.2 dBc before linearization.</P>
