The Influence of Changing PV Array Interconnections under a Non-uniform Irradiance

        Kun Ding,Li Feng,Si-Yu Qin,Jing Mao,Jing-Wei Zhang,Xiang Wang,Tao Peng,Quan-Xin Zhai 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.2

Usually, the output characteristics of a photovoltaic (PV) array are significantly affected by non-uniform irradiance which is caused by ambient obstacles, clouds, orientations, tilts, etc. Some local maximum power points (LMPP) in the current-voltage (I-V) curves of a PV array can result in power losses of the array. However, the output power at the global maximum power point (GMPP) is different in different interconnection schemes in a PV array. Therefore, based on the theoretical analysis and mathematical derivation of different topological structures of a PV array, this paper investigated the output characteristics of dual series PV arrays with different interconnections. The proposed mathematical models were also validated by experimental results. Finally, this paper also concluded that in terms of performance, the total cross tied (TCT) interconnection was not always the optimal structure, especially in a dual series PV array. When one of the PV modules was severely mismatched, the TCT worked worse than the series parallel (SP) structure. This research can provide guidance for switching the interconnection to gain the greatest energy yield in a changeable- structure PV system.

Improved Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Method Based on Voltage Interval for PV Array under Partially Shaded Conditions

        Ding, Kun,Wang, Xiang,Zhai, Quan-Xin,Xu, Jun-Wei,Zhang, Jing-Wei,Liu, Hai-Hao The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2014 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.14 No.4

The power-voltage (P-V) curve of photovoltaic (PV) arrays connected in parallel to bypass diodes would have several local maximum power points (LMPP) under partial shading conditions (PSC). Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods fail to search for the global maximum power point (MPP) because the searched peak point may remain at the LMPP on the P-V curve under PSC. This study proposes an improved MPPT algorithm to ensure that PV arrays operate at global maximum power point (GMPP) under PSC. The proposed algorithm is based on a critical study and a series of observations of PV characteristics under PSC. Results show the regularity of voltage interval between LMPPs. The algorithm has the advantages of rapidly reaching GMPP, maintaining stability, and recovering GMPP quickly when the operating condition changes. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm.

Fault Classification Method for Inverter Based on Hybrid Support Vector Machines and Wavelet Analysis

        Zhi-kun Hu,Wei-hua Gui,Chun-hua Yang,Peng-cheng Deng,Steven X. Ding 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2011 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.9 No.4

A new classification method for fault waveform is proposed based on discrete orthogonal wavelet transform (DOWT) and hybrid support vector machine (hybrid SVM) for fault type of a three-phase voltage inverter. The waveforms of output voltage obtained from the faulty inverter are decomposed by DOWT into wavelet coefficient matrices, through which we can obtain singular value vectors acted as features of time-series periodic waveforms. And then a multi-classes classification method based on a new Huffman Tree structure is presented to realize 1-v-r SVM strategy. The extracted features are applied to hybrid SVM for determining fault type. Compared to employing the structure based on ordinary binary tree, the superiority of the proposed SVM method is shown in the success of fault diagnosis because the average Loo-correctness of the SVM based on Huffman tree structure exceed the general SVM 3.65%, and the correctness reaches 99.6%.

      • Host Langerin (CD207) is a receptor for Yersinia pestis phagocytosis and promotes dissemination

        Yang, Kun,Park, Chae G,Cheong, Cheolho,Bulgheresi, Silvia,Zhang, Shusheng,Zhang, Pei,He, Yingxia,Jiang, Lingyu,Huang, Hongping,Ding, Honghui,Wu, Yiping,Wang, Shaogang,Zhang, Lin,Li, Anyi,Xia, Lianxu,B Nature Publishing Group 2015 Immunology and Cell Biology Vol.93 No.9

Yersinia pestis is a Gram‐negative bacterium that causes plague. After Y. pestis overcomes the skin barrier, it encounters antigen‐presenting cells (APCs), such as Langerhans and dendritic cells. They transport the bacteria from the skin to the lymph nodes. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in bacterial transmission are unclear. Langerhans cells (LCs) express Langerin (CD207), a calcium‐dependent (C‐type) lectin. Furthermore, Y. pestis possesses exposed core oligosaccharides. In this study, we show that Y. pestis invades LCs and Langerin‐expressing transfectants. However, when the bacterial core oligosaccharides are shielded or truncated, Y. pestis propensity to invade Langerhans and Langerin‐expressing cells decreases. Moreover, the interaction of Y. pestis with Langerin‐expressing transfectants is inhibited by purified Langerin, a DC‐SIGN (DC‐specific intercellular adhesion molecule 3 grabbing nonintegrin)‐like molecule, an anti‐CD207 antibody, purified core oligosaccharides and several oligosaccharides. Furthermore, covering core oligosaccharides reduces the mortality associated with murine infection by adversely affecting the transmission of Y. pestis to lymph nodes. These results demonstrate that direct interaction of core oligosaccharides with Langerin facilitates the invasion of LCs by Y. pestis. Therefore, Langerin‐mediated binding of Y. pestis to APCs may promote its dissemination and infection.

Methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications facilitate mir-25-3p maturation to promote gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) progression

        Qian Kun,Xu Wei,Xia Xiaoyao,Ding Jinhuo 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.12

Background: Methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) is an RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase, which plays a critical role in micorRNA (miRNAs) processing and maturation, but it is still unclear whether METTL3 regulated miRNAs participates in the regulation of cancer aggressiveness in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). Objectives: This study was designed to investigate this issue, and uncover the potential underlying mechanisms. Methods: the expression of METTL3 in GISTs tissues and cell lines were determined by RT-qPCR and Western blot. Cell proliferation and migration were assessed by colony formation, CCK-8 and Transwell. The mRNA expression of all proteins was detected by RT-qPCR, and tumor xenograft study was applied to confirm the effect of METTL3 on GISTs development in vivo. Results: In our study, we showed that METTL3 was significantly upregulated in GISTs tissues and cell lines. Functional experiments demonstrated that overexpression of METTL3 promoted GISTs cell malignant biological behavior and tumor growth in vitro and in vivo, and conversely, silencing of METTL3 had opposite effects and suppressed GISTs progression. Further mechanistical experiments verified that METTL3 promoted the maturation of miR-25-3p in an m6A-dependent manner. Similar to METTL3, miR-25-3p was also validated as an oncogene to promote cancer development in GISTs. Finally, our rescuing experiments hinted that silencing of miR-25-3p abrogated the tumor-initiating effects of METTL3 overexpression on GISTs. Conclusion: Collectively, those results indicated that METTL3 played an oncogenic role in GISTs through positively modulating the miR-25-3p in an m6A-dependent manner, and we firstly discussed how the METTL3/m6A/miR-25-3p axis affected GISTs development.

Effect of Bias Voltage on the Microstructure and Hardness of Ti-Si-N Films Deposited by Using High-power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering

        JiCheng Ding,ChangWei Zou,QiMin Wang,Kun Zeng,SiCheng Feng 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.68 No.2

The huge potential of High-power impulse magnetron sputtering (HIPIMS) to improve the properties of deposited coatings has been verified. In this study, Ti-Si-N coatings were deposited on Si (111), glass and cemented carbide substrates by using HIPIMS. The influences of the peak voltage, duty cycle and total gas pressure on the transient peak current of the Ti90Si10 target was investigated in detailed. The (200) diffraction intensity decreased with increasing bias voltage from −50 V to −400 V. The hardness of the Ti-Si-N coatings deposited at various bias voltages and the internal stress at different bias voltages were studied. The results indicate that HIPIMS technology can considerably improve the mechanical capacity of the Ti-Si-N coatings, possibly due to the combined protection of the increased adhesive force with the substrate and the relatively high hardness, which are caused by densification and dislocation strengthening effects.

Fiber Ring Laser Intra-cavity Absorption Spectroscopy for Gas Sensing: Analysis and Experiment

        Mo Li,Kun Liu,Wencai Jing,Gang-Ding Peng 한국광학회 2010 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.14 No.1

Fiber ring laser based intra-cavity absorption spectroscopic sensor has great potential for high sensitivity gas detection. Using the rate equations and propagation equations, we investigated theoretically factors that affect the sensitivity of such fiber ring laser sensors and determined the optimal design parameters and conditions for significant enhancement of the system sensitivity. Experiments have been conducted to determine the sensitivity enhancement performance. The results showed a factor of 25 ~ 30 in sensitivity enhancement in the experimental system, agreeing well with the theoretical expectations. Experiments on acetylene detection have also been carried out and the results showed that the ring cavity significantly increases the signal absorption and that high sensitivity can be obtained for gas detection.

Tuned mass dampers for human-induced vibration control of the Expo Culture Centre at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China

        Lu, Xilin,Ding, Kun,Shi, Weixing,Weng, Dagen Techno-Press 2012 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.43 No.5

The Expo Culture Centre is one of the permanent buildings at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China. The main structure has an oval shape and consists of 36 radial cantilever steel trusses with different lengths and inner frames made of concrete-filled rectangular steel tube members. Tuned mass dampers are used to reduce the excessive vibrations of the sixth floor that are caused by human-induced resonance. A three-dimensional analytical model of the system is developed, and its main characteristics are established. A series of field tests are performed on the structure, and the test results show that the vertical vibration frequencies of most structural cantilevers are between 2.5 Hz and 3.5 Hz, which falls in the range of human-induced vibration. Twelve pairs of tuned mass dampers weighing 115 tons total were installed in the structure to suppress the vibration response of the system. These mass dampers were tuned to the vertical vibration frequency of the structure, which had the highest possibility of excitation. Test data obtained after the installation of the tuned mass dampers are used to evaluate their effectiveness for the reduction of the vibration acceleration. An analytical model of the structure is calibrated according to the measured dynamic characteristics. An analysis of the modified model is performed and the results show that when people walk normally, the structural vibration was low and the tuned mass dampers have no effect, but when people run at the structural vibration frequency, the tuned mass dampers can reduce the floor vibration acceleration by approximately 15%.
