      • 감염성 질염에 대한 질내 산도측정, Amine 검사 및 현미경 검사의 진단적 가치

        1987년 5월 1일부터 9월 31일까지 5개월간 영남대학교의 의과대학 부속병원 산부인과 외래에 내원한 환자 549예를 대상으로 질내 pH 검사, 아민검사, 생리식염수 및 10% KOH습식도말현미경검사를 시행하였다. 질염과 관련된 임상증상 및 소견과 이를 기초로 한 이학적 진단과 비교분석한 결과 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1. 각 감염성 질염에서의 질산도 측정 및 아민검사와 생리식염수 습식도말검사성적은 세균성 질염 환자군에선 질 pH 5.0이상이 81.0%, 아민검사 양성이 62.8%, 유산균 감소 소견이 77.4%, 백혈구 감소가 70.1%이었으며, 트리코모나스 질염 환자군은 질 pH 5.0이상이 93.3%, 아민검사 음성이 90.0%, 유산균 감소 소견이 77.4%, 백혈구 감소가 70.1%이었으며, 트리코모나스 질염 환자군은 질 pH 5.0이상이 93.3%, 아민검사 음성이 90.0%, 유산균 감소가 90.0%, 백혈구 증가가 93.3%이었다. 진균성 질염 환자군은 질 pH 3.0 또는 4.0이 83.2%, 아민검사 음성이 100%, 정산유산균 소견이 89.7% 및 정상백혈구 소견이 72.4%이었다. 2. 생리식염수 및 10% KOH습식도말검사에 대한 이학적 진단이 정확도는 정상군이 77.6%, 세균성 질염균 26.3%, 진균성 질염군 47.5% 및 트리코모나스 질염군이 70.0%이었다. 질 Ph 측정 및 아민검사에 의한 진단의 정확도는 정상 및 진균성 질염군이 83.2%, 세균성 질염군이 60.6%, 트리코모나스 질염군이 83.3%이었다. 3. 세균성 질염군에서 질 pH 3.0 또는 4.0 및 아민검사 음성을 나타낸 23예의 질상피 세포에 대한 clue cell의 비율은 10.0%이하가 12예, 20.0% 및 30.0%가 5예, 50.0%가 4예, 그리고 50.0% 이상이 2예이었다. 이상의 성적으로 외래에서 손쉽게 시행할 수 있는 질내 산도측정과 아민검사는 각 감염성 질염의 감염여부에 대한 screening과 감별진단에 유용한 것으로 사료되며, 생리식염수 및 10% KOH습식도말검사에 이들 검사를 추가할 경우 진단의 신빙도를 높일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 배양검사가 요구되는 환자의 선택에 있어서도 가치가 있을 것으로 추정되었다. Vaginitis is one of the most common disease in gynecologic field in recent days. About 90% of these patients suffer from the infection of the vagina caused by Gardnerella vaginalies. Candida, or Trichomonas, either alone or in combination. For the effective diagnosis and management, it is essential to get an accurate identification of the causative agent. Applying simple and easy diagnostic methods such as pH of vaginal discharge, amine test and microscopic examination of wet mount preparation of normal saline and 10% KOH to 549 cases of randomly selected patients visiting. Out-patient Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Yeung-nam University Hospital through May 1st to Sept 31st. 1987, the following results were obtained. 1. In the Gardnerella vaginities vaginal pH was more than 5.0 in 81.0% of total cases, positive amine test in 62.8%, decreased lactobacilli in 77.4% & decreased WBC counts in 70.1%. In the Trichomonas vaginitis vaginal pH more than 5.0 was noted in 93.3% of the cases. negative amine test in 90%, decreased lactobacilli in 90% & increased WBC counts in 93.3%, whereas Candida vaginitis and normal groups showed vaginal pH of 3.0~4.0 in 83.2%, negative amine test in 100%, normal distribution of lactobacilli in 89.7%, normal WBC counts in 72.4%. 2. The accuracy rates of physical diagnosis by wet mount preparation of normal saline and 10% KOH revealed 26.3%, 47.5%, 70.0% in Gardnerella vaginitis, Candida vaginitis, and Trichomonas vaginitis, respectively. The vagnal pH and amine test showed 83.2% of accuracy rate in Candida vagnities group. 60.6% in Gardnerella vagnitis group and 83.3% in Trichomonas vagnitis group. 3. In 23 cases of Gardnerella vagnitis showing vaginal pH of 3.0 or 4.0 and positive amine test, the clue cells were observed in 10% or less in 12 case 30% in 5 cases, 50% in 4 cases and 50% or more in 2 cases. In summary vaginal pH an amine test could be useful in screening and differentiating the different types of infectious vaginitis. Furthermore by adding microscopic examination of normal saline and 10% KOH wet mount preparation to them, they not only could obtain higher diagnostic accuracy rate but would be more valuable in selecting the patients requiring cultures to confirm the diagnoses.

        Kyong No Dang Model Research for the Elderly- Based on ERI CCAI Model, Whitney Center Model, PASSi Model and Chongsu Kyong No Dang

        This study aims to restore the dignity of the elderly based on “filial piety” and community values in preparation for the 'silver tsunami' in Jeju by studying the case of Whitney Center in the United States, PASSi, Jeju's Isidol Nursing Home, and the haenyeo society. The main goal was to develop the Asian Jeong Nang model which was named by professor Koh Chang Hoon, Chair of Island Research Institute at Jeju National university. Jeong Nang(정낭) is the gateway with 3 wooden bars to the traditional residential space of Jeju where several generations live together. Dr. Hesung Chun Koh, Chair of East Rock Institute gave me motivation and support for the study of the elderly welfare model at the Jeju National University Island Research Institute. As the head of this study, I was dispatched from the Jeju National University Island Research Institute to the East Rock Institute (ERI). Dr. Hesung Chun Koh, M.D. Ann Datunashivili who is a practice professor at Medical School of Yale and in charge of Medical Center of Whitney Center. and Mike RambaRose who is Chief Executive Officer of Whitney Center, supported my research. In addition ImJa Choi, CEO of PASSi, also allowed two research students, Lee Seung Yong and Ko Yu Seok, from Jeju National University, to help my research related to psycho-social approach for the elderly at PASSi. This study was intended to develop a model for senior citizens in Korea through Hesung Chun Koh's ERI CCAI Model, Whitney Center's residential apartment model for retired seniors, and PASSi's community care model for the multi-cultural community.

        튀김횟수에 따른 튀김식품(돈까스, 감자튀김) 및 식용유지(대두유, 카놀라유, 팜유, 돈지)의 변화

        본 연구는 축산물에 사용되는 식용유지의 기준설정을 위하여 모니터링을 실시하였다. 축산물에 사용되는 유지(대두유, 카놀라유, 팜유, 돈지)를 선정하여 식품공전에 고시되고 있는 규격과 비교하여보았다. 상관관계를 구축하여 축산물에 사용되는 식용유지와 일반식품에 사용되는 식용유지의 신선도여부를 파악하였으며, 축산식품과 일반식품의 사용유지 실험값 비교분석을 통한 식품공전에 따른 유지기준(산가 2.5 mg KOH/g 이하, 과산화물가 50meq/kg 이하)을 축산물에도 적용 가능한 지의 여부를 검토하였다. 또한 튀김유지 뿐만 아니라, 유지별 튀김횟수에 따른 튀김식품에 대한 산가, 과산화물가 값을 측정하여 축산물(돈까스)이 일반식품(냉동감자)보다 적은 튀김횟수에서 일반식품의 산가 기준치(5.0 mg KOH/g), 과산화물가 기준치(60 meq/kg)에 도달하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구를 통하여 축산물에 사용되는 유지의 기준 규격마련을 위한 기초자료로 사용될 수 있다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of frying number on oxidative changes in edible oils and fried foods. According to the frying number, the extracted edible oils from pork cutlet and fried potato were used as experimental samples. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) regulations permit edible oils to have <2.5 mg KOH/g of acid value and <50 meq/kg of peroxide value in food. However, there are no regulations for edible oils used to fry livestock. Animal foods contain protein and fat, and should be held to a different standard than ordinary food. Therefore, we present basic information and suggest the establishment of regulations for livestock frying oil and fried livestock.

        구체시와 표현주의 예술은 서로다른 시대의 예술장르이면서도 비교연구의 가치를 지닌다. 이는 양자가 매체융합의 표현양식 실현으로 모더니즘과 포스트모더니즘 예술형성에 지대한 영향력을 행사하였기 때문이다. 그러나 상세히 관찰해보면 양자사이에는 예술이념, 재료사용, 미학적 효능 등의 면에서 상당한 거리가 있다. 이는 무엇보다 구체성과 추상성이라는 대표개념에서 나타난다. 유사한 시기에 생성되어 발전된 두 양식수법은 „대상성으로부터의 이탈" 이라는 시학원리에서 공통되나 그 구체적 실현방법은 같지않다. 후자가 매체사용의 추상화를 통해 주관적 내면심층의 환상이나 어떤 다른 감추어진 대상성을 표현하려 한다면, 전자는 언어기호의 질료화로 스스로의 대상세계를 창출한다. 따라서 양자에서 추출되는 텍스트의미성은 동일하지않다. Kandinsky의 대표적 추상화 „구성 7(Komposition VII)" 과 Gomringer의 텍스트 „침묵(Schweigen)"을 대비해보자. 기하학적, 구성적 수법을 활용한 전자에서는 대상적 지시성이 완전히 배제되지않는다. 그 표현세계는 생성과 종말의 차원에서 „우주창조의 은유"로 해석된다. 이러한 굴절된 형상조음은 후자의 기호시각화에서는 찾아보기 어렵다. 동일단어의 반복배열과 그로인한 서정시의 도식화는 청각적 침묵의 이미지를 „도상화" 시킴으로써 새로운 지각작용에 호소한다. 여기에서의 침묵은 상징적 의미가 아니라 다원적 기능을 발휘한다. 이러한 현상은 오늘날의 다매체예술에서 발견된다. 구체시와 표현주의 넓게보아 현대예술의 모더니티를 생성, 발전시킨 두 축이다. 양자는 추상화와 구체화라는 양식혁신을 통해 „재현"과 „모방"이라는 종전의 표현법칙으로는 도달할 수 없는 새로운 표현가능성을 개진하였다. 특히 서로다른 개별매체의 통합과 교체를 통해 생산과 수용의 유희공간을 넓히고 독자와 관찰자의 지각행위를 포괄하는 매체미학의 지평을 열어주었다. 이로인해 현대예술은 „언어갱신"이라는 세기적 목표를 구현하며 신매체의 등장으로 인한 예술의 매체화작업에 대처할 통로를 마련하게된다. 개별장르 해체로 인한 이러한 예술의 보편화작업은 그러나 아방가르드와 포스트모더니즘의 전유물이 아니라 르네상스, 바로크, 그리고 낭만주의 시대에 개화한 바 있다. 나아가 모든 예술을 하나로 보는 예술생성의 원천에 닿아있다. 혼합장르나 매체교체 현상은 인류의 장구한 예술, 특히 작품발달사를 관류해온 기본적 „표현의지" 이다. 이런 점에서 상호매체성미학은 전통과 현대의 아우름에서 합당하게 파악 될 수 있다.

        I. Purposes of study Research on brain organization which identifies general functions of the right and left hemispheres-the intuition and the intellect-provides us with another dimension to incorporate into training methods. If we want to train a parrot to be salesman, we might well concentrate on methods which utilize only the intellect. But if we are engaged in management development at any level of organization, we would better be aware of the operations of both the intuition and the intellect. Brain functioning differs with environmental (cultural) background because differnent environments may use one hemisphere of the brain more extensively than the other. Accordingly this paper was to analyze Korean brain laterality. II. Methods of study 1.       • 胃下垂症에 關한 內視鏡 및 臨床的 硏究

        The term gastric ptosis implies prolapse or falling down of the stomach as an example of visceroptosis, commonly found in thin, asthenic individuals with a relaxed abdominal wall. Among western investigators, it has been well known that gastric ptosis is not considered an abnormal clinical entity in that even those individuals with stomach extending down to the pelvic brim are essentially asymptomatic. Nevertheless, in the Orient and especially in Korea, ptotic stomach has frequently been reported in association with vague inconstant gastric and generalized symptomatology attributable to no other apparent cause. This study was undertaken to establish the frequency of occurrence of ptotic stomach by means of radio gram and gastrocamera, and then to correlate same with clinical symptomatology. 721 cases of gastroduodenal disease excluding those with hepatobiliary tract and pancreatic disease, were selected from among the patients in the gastroenterology clinic, Woo Sok University Medical College Hospital from Jan. 1965 to Dec. 1966. Gastroptosis was classified into 3 groups by means of x-ray findings: grade Ⅰ(mild): ptotic stomach, the greater curvature of which extended down to Yacoby's line, that is a line drawn connecting both superior iliac crests; grade Ⅱ(moderate): ptotic stomach in which the incisura angularis did not reach to Yacoby's line; and grade Ⅲ(severe): ptotic stomach in which the incisura angularis extended down Yacoby's line. The diagnostic criteria of gastritis used below are those defined by Koh's modifications of Schindler's classification from gastroscopy. The results were as follows: 1) 206 patients with gastric ptosis were detected among the 721 cases of digestive tract disease herein described, ie an overall incidence of 28.6 %; including 16.5 % of the males, and 44.8 % of the females be studied. 2) Among 303 cases fitted into the above mentioned radiologic findings with clinical symptoms, 67 cases or 22.1% were found to be males, and 236 cases or 77.9% females, the prevalent age incidence being 3rd and 4th decades in males, 2nd and 3rd decades in females. 3) The gastric muscosal findings of the 303 cases of gastric ptosis obtained by means of the gastrocamera were gastritic in 82.2% and nongastritic in the remaining 17.8%. The incidence of gastritis in grade Ⅰ was 102 cases or 78.5 %, grade Ⅱ, 74 cases or 83.1 % and grade Ⅲ, 73 cases or 86.9 %. 4) The various types of gastritis and their relative frequencies, via gastrocamera were: a) superficial gastritis 24.5 %, b) atrophic gastritis 58.1 %, c) hypertrophic gastritis 6.4%, and d) mixed type of gastritis 17.3%. In severe gastric ptosis, a more frequent incidence of atrophic gastritis was found. Conversely, in the milder forms of gastroptosis, superficial and hypertrophic gastritis were more prevalent. 5) The symptomatology noted in association with gastric ptosis was quite varied both in nature and in severity, and unrelated to the presence of gastritis symptoms in order of frequency of occurence included abdominal fullness in 17.2%, general weakness 16.5%, epigastralgia 15.4%, anorexia 10.4%, nausea 8.4%, sour eructation 4.8%, palpitation 4.6%, insomnia 4.4% and vomiting 3.2%. In grade Ⅰ(mild) ptosis, the most common symptoms were epigastralgia, abdominal fullness and sour eructation. In grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ(moderate to severe) ptosis, prominent symptoms included abdominal fullness, epigastralgia, and anorexia and generalized weakness.

        TGF-β1-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition and acetylation of Smad2 and Smad3 are negatively regulated by EGCG in Human A549 lung cancer cells

        Transforming growth factor-β1, the key ligand of Smad-dependent signaling pathway, is critical for epithelial-mesenchymal transition during embryo-morphogenesis, fibrotic diseases, and tumor metastasis. In this study, we found that activation of p300/CBP, a histone acetyltransferase, by TGF-β1 mediates Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) via acetylating Smad2 and Smad3 in TGF-β1 signaling pathway. We demonstrated that treatment with EGCG inhibited p300/CBP activity in human lung cancer cells. Also, we observed that EGCG potently inhibited TGF-β1-induced EMT and reversed the up-regulation of various genes during EMT. Our findings suggest that EGCG inhibits the induction of p300/CBP activity by TGF-β1. Therefore, EGCG inhibits TGF-β1-mediated EMT by suppressing the acetylation of Smad2 and Smad3 in human lung cancer cells.

      • Electrical characterization of 2D and 3D microelectrodes for achieving high-resolution sensing in retinal prostheses with in vitro animal experimental results

        <P>In order to provide high-quality visual information to patients with implanted retinal prosthetic devices, the number of microelectrode should be large. As the number of microelectrodes is increased, the dimensions of the microelectrode are also decreased, which in turn results in increased interface impedance of the microelectrodes and decreased dynamic range of injection current. In addition, the reduced maximum limit of injection current may not be sufficiently large to stimulate the ganglion cells in the retina. In order to improve the trade-off between the number of microelectrodes and the current injection limit, a 3D microelectrode structure can be used as an alternative. Due to the advancement of microfabrication technology, the fabrication of highly-accurate 3D structures with small dimensions is possible. This paper presents a comprehensive electrical characterization of 2D and 3D microelectrodes. Microelectrodes that differ in shape and diameter are compared to evaluate the feasibility of use in high-resolution retinal prostheses. Their electrode-electrolyte interface impedances and charge injection limits are quantitatively analyzed. Also, in vitro animal experiments using rd1 mice are performed to observe the evoked neural responses by increasing the stimulation current amplitude from 10 to 100 mu A. This research can be used to define requirements for further retinal prosthetic device research.</P>

        Informatic analysis for hidden pulse attack exploiting spectral characteristics of optics in plug-and-play quantum key distribution system

        <P>Quantum channel loopholes due to imperfect implementations of practical devices expose quantum key distribution (QKD) systems to potential eavesdropping attacks. Even though QKD systems are implemented with optical devices that are highly selective on spectral characteristics, information theory-based analysis about a pertinent attack strategy built with a reasonable framework exploiting it has never been clarified. This paper proposes a new type of trojan horse attack called hidden pulse attack that can be applied in a plug-and-play QKD system, using general and optimal attack strategies that can extract quantum information from phase-disturbed quantum states of eavesdropper's hidden pulses. It exploits spectral characteristics of a photodiode used in a plug-and-play QKD system in order to probe modulation states of photon qubits. We analyze the security performance of the decoy-state BB84 QKD system under the optimal hidden pulse attack model that shows enormous performance degradation in terms of both secret key rate and transmission distance.</P>
