        2017년 7월 4일부터 6일까지 경상남도 거제시 거제도 일대를 김주필, 김대희, 지승환, 지성현, 최라미, 이영경 등 한국거미연구소 회원들이 주야로 채집한 결과, 총 23과 56속 75종이 조사 연구되어 이에 발표하는 바이다. 채집한 표본은 주필거미박물관에 보관하였다. From July 4 to 6 in 2017. Joo-Pil Kim, Dae-Hee Kim, Seung-Hwan Ji, Sung-Hyun Ji, Ra-Mi Choi, Yeong-Gyeong Lee, the members of The Arachnological Institute of Korea investigated the spiders in the whole area of Geoje city, Geoje-do, Gyeongsangnam-do and report 23 Family 56 Genus 75 Species of spiders. The collected spiders are placed (stored) in the Joo-Pil Spider museum.

        배추의 배축절편으로부터 캘러스와 뿌리 발생을 통한 안정적 형질전환

        '정상' 배추의 배축절편을 선발마커로서 paromomycin 저항 성유전자를 갖고 있는 pPTN290으로 각각 형질전환된 EHA101, LBA4404, GV3101균주와 공동배양한 후 갤러스유도배지에서 형질전환캘러스를 얻은 후, 뿌리유도배지에서 부정근을 그리고 신초유도배지에서 신초를 각각 순차적으로 유도하였다. 형질전환캘러스를 얻은 후, 뿌리유도배지에서 부정근을 그리고 신초유도배지에서 신초를 가각 순차적으로 유도하였다. 형질전환캘러스 형성은 Agrobacterium균주에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 특히 EHA101균주에 공동배양된 배축절편으로부터 최대 6.1%까지 얻어졌다. 또한 각각의 형질전환캘러스 클론으로부터 형질전환 부정근과 신초 발생은 EHA101균주에서 60.7%와 38.2%, LBA4404에서 8.3%와 0%, GV3101에서 20.5%와 85.7%까지 각각 얻을 수 있었다. 형질전환식물체는 특별한 형태적 이상 없이 온실에서 정상적으로 자라 $T_{2}$종자를 얻을 수 있었다. GUS방법으로 7개의 후대 유식물체를 분석한 결과 gus유전자가 안정적으로 발현하고 있음을 확인하였고, 배추 genome에 single 또는 multiple copy로 전달되고 있음을 추측할 수 있었다. Hypocotyl explants of Chinese cabbage (cvs. "Jeong Sang") produced transgenic calli on callus induction medium (MS salt, B5 vitamin, 5 mg/L acetosyringone, 1 mg/L 2,4-D, 3% sucrose, 400 mg/L cefotaxime, 100 mg/L paromomycin, pH 5.8) after cocultivation with strains of Agrobacterium tumefaciens (EHA101, LBA4404, GV3101) harboring the pPTN290 containing paromomycin-resistance gene as a selectable marker, and then they transferred to root induction medium (1/2MS salt, MS vitamins, 2% sucrose, 100 mg/L paromomycin, 100 mg/L cefotaxime, pH 5.8) and shoot induction medium (MS salt, B5 vitamin, 4 mg/L $AgNO_3$, 4 mg/L 6-benzyladenine, 3 mg/L alpha-naphthaleneacetic acid, 100 mg/L paromomycin, 100 mg/L cefotaxime, 3% sucrose, pH 5.8) in order. There was a significant difference in the frequency of transgenic calli depending on Agrobacterium strains. In particular, the highest frequency (6.1%) of transgenic calli was obtained from the hypocotyls cocultivated with EHA101 strains. Also, the frequency (%) of transgenic root and plants from each transgenic callus clone were obtained with 60.7% and 38.2% in EHA101, with 8.3% and 0% in LBA4404, with 20.5% and 85.7% in GV3101 strains, respectively. They were grown to maturity in a greenhouse and normally produced $T_2$ seeds. GUS histochemical assay for progeny ($T_2$) revealed that the transgenes was expressed in the plant genome, and progeny analysis from 7 independent transgenic events demonstrated that the transformants transmitted the transgene as a single or multiple functional locus.

      • Effects of dielectric substrate properties for optical phenomena in a nanoscale ridge aperture

        <P>In this paper, we show that the increase in power throughput is dependent on the thickness and the relative permittivity of the dielectric substrate in the aperture-on-dielectric-substrate configuration. We also show that, similar to a metal nanoparticle, an increase in the medium dielectric constant results in a red-shift in the plasmon resonance of a nanoscale ridge aperture. These results, which are verified by a numerical analysis, provide a new understanding of the phenomenon of surface-plasmon-enhanced transmission. We demonstrate that the red-shifted wavelength and dielectric properties can compensate for the optical loss due to plasmon red-shift. In addition, the dielectric substrate layer behaves like a Fabry–Pérot optical resonator, resulting in coherent constructive interference. The simulation results show that the |E|<SUP>2</SUP> intensity of the triangular aperture is ∼200% greater when this dielectric effect and red-shift resonance are considered.</P>

      • The effect of Diagnosis-Related Group payment system on the quaility of medical care, among the patient diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse in Korean Tertiary Hospitals

        Objective: To examine changes in clinical practice patterns including the number of simultaneous surgeries for patients diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse (POP) following the introduction of diagnosis-related groups (DRGs) payment system of the Fee-for-service (FFS) in July 2013 in Korean tertiary hospitals and to evaluate its effect on the quality of hospital care. Methods: Using the 20112016 administrative database from National Health Insurance Service claim data, we reviewed medical information for 8115 patients who underwent hysterectomy with the diagnosis POP in 43 tertiary hospitals. We compared changes in the number of simultaneous operations during hysterectomy and several variables in length of stay (LOS), spillover, readmission rate from before to after introduction of the DRGs for 2 and a half years respectively. Results: DRGs significantly reduced the number of simultaneous surgeries, such as colpopexies and transobturator-tape procedures using expensive mesh or tape, during hysterectomy (9.37% vs. 6.64%, 9.66% vs. 3.16% respectively, all p<0.001) while there was no significant difference in the number of colporrhaphy using simple absorbable suture materials during hysterectomy (21.35% vs. 23.09%, p=0.199). Readmission rate increased after DRGs (3.01% vs. 4.51% p< 0.001) and spillover rate did not change. LOS was reduced (7.4 ± 3.5 vs. 6.4 ± 2.7, p < 0.001) after DRGs. Conclusion: Implementation of DRGs in the field of urogynecology in Korean tertiary hospitals led to reduce the number of co-surgeries requiring expensive medical operative equipment while the number of those that did not remained the same. DRGs also led to increase the readmission rate and reduction the LOS without increasing outpatient visits.

        <i>In vitro</i> inhibition of influenza A virus infection by marine microalga-derived sulfated polysaccharide p-KG03

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The sulfated polysaccharide, p-KG03, purified from the marine microalga, <I>Gyrodinium impudium</I>, is a unique compound comprising homogenous galactose units conjugated to uronic acid and sulfated groups. Although previous studies showed that p-KG03 suppresses tumor cell growth and infection by encephalomyocarditis virus, its effect against enveloped virus infection and the biological mechanism of action have not been elucidated. In this report, the inhibitory activity of p-KG03 against influenza virus was examined and compared with that of other sulfated polysaccharides (fucoidan and pentosan polysulfate) and antiviral agents (oseltamivir phosphate, oseltamivir carboxylate, amantadine, and ribavirin). The results of a cytopathic effect reduction assay using MDCK cells demonstrated that p-KG03 exhibited the 50% effective concentration (EC<SUB>50</SUB>) values of 0.19–0.48μg/ml against influenza type A virus infection (selectivity index >200) but not all influenza type B viruses. Mechanism studies showed that inhibition of influenza virus replication was maximized when p-KG03 was added during or within 6h after viral infection, suggesting that mainly the viral adsorption and internalization steps are targeted by this compound. The results of influenza virus binding assay to p-KG03 and fluorescence microscopy indicate that the antiviral activity of p-KG03 is directly associated with its interaction with viral particles. The sulfated polysaccharide p-KG03 is a potent and specific influenza A viral entry inhibitor and may be a candidate for antiviral drug development.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P>► The sulfated polysaccharide p-KG03 is derived from red marine microalga. ► It is active against influenza A virus but not all influenza B virus <I>in vitro</I>. ► The antiviral activity is highly correlated with its affinity to viral particles. ► The main mode of action of p-KG03 is to interfere with viral entry into cells.</P>

      • Lightweight Distance Bounding Protocol against Relay Attacks

        <P>Traditional authentication protocols are based on cryptographic techniques to achieve identity verification. Distance bounding protocols are an enhanced type of authentication protocol built upon both signal traversal time measurement and cryptographic techniques to accomplish distance verification as well as identity verification. A distance bounding protocol is usually designed to defend against the relay attack and the distance fraud attack. As there are applications to which the distance fraud attack is not a serious threat, we propose a streamlined distance bounding protocol that focuses on the relay attack. The proposed protocol is more efficient than previous protocols and has a low false acceptance rate under the relay attack.</P>

        Exogenous spermidine ameliorates tubular necrosis during cisplatin nephrotoxicity

        The hallmark of cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury is the necrotic cell death in the kidney proximal tubules. However, an effective approach to limit cisplatin nephrotoxicity remains unknown. Spermidine is a polyamine that protects against oxidative stress and necrosis in aged yeasts, and the present study found that exogenous spermidine markedly attenuated tubular necrosis and kidney dysfunction, but not apoptosis, during cisplatin nephrotoxicity. In addition, exogenous spermidine potently inhibited oxidative/nitrative DNA damage, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase 1 (PARP1) activation and ATP depletion after cisplatin injection. Conversely, inhibition of ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) via siRNA transfection in vivo significantly increased DNA damage, PARP1 activation and ATP depletion, resulting in acceleration of tubular necrosis and kidney dysfunction. Finally, exogenous spermidine removed severe cisplatin injury induced by ODC inhibition. In conclusion, these data suggest that spermidine protects kidneys against cisplatin injury through DNA damage and tubular necrosis, and this finding provides a novel target to prevent acute kidney injury including nephrotoxicity.

        Solution Viscosity and Relative Reactivity of Branched and Linear Polycarbonates

        The relative reactivities of branched and linear polycarbonates were investigated by measuring unreacted chloroformate concentration. It was found that the polymerization for the branched polymer proceeded ca. 10 times faster than that for the linear polymers. The effect of catalyst on a condensation step was studied by changing the amount of TEA (triethylamine) at t0 and t60 with keeping constant amount of TEA. The viscosity average molecular weight for the obtained branched polycarbonates were measured and compared with those of linear polycarbonates. It was found that the viscosity molecular weights of the obtained polymers decreased nonlinearly as wt % of added oligomer increased. The solution viscosities in methylenechloride for linear and branched polycarbonate increased nonlinearly as the content of polymer increased.
