Electrical, Thermal, and Thermoelectric Transport Properties of Se-doped Polycrystalline Re2Te5

Re2Te5 is considered a potential thermoelectric material because of its intrinsically low thermalconductivity, due to its complex crystal structure. Herein, a series of Se-doped Re2Te5 (Re2Te5-xSex, x = 0, 0.2,1, and 2) samples were synthesized, and their electrical and thermal transport properties were investigated. Pure orthorhombic Re2Te5 phases were successfully synthesized without any impurities for all compositions,and the continuous decrease in the calculated lattice parameters confirmed the substitution of Se atoms atthe Te sites. A maximum power factor of 0.135 mW/mK2was achieved for the sample with x = 0.2 at 880 K,mainly due to the increase in carrier concentration and electrical conductivity. The lattice thermalconductivity significantly decreased for all doped samples, which was attributed to the point defect phononscattering caused by Se doping. The thermoelectric figure of merit, zT reached a maximum value of 0.20 at880 K for Re2Te4.8Se0.2 (x = 0.2) sample, which was approximately 22% higher than that of the pristine Re2Te5sample. The weighted mobility, quality factor, and expected zT were calculated to evaluate the optimizationof the power factor and zT.

Background/Aims: Urinary tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) have been recently discovered and validated as sensitive biomarkers that can predict stage 2 or 3 acute kidney injury (AKI) development in high-risk patients. We aimed to assess whether these biomarkers could predict adverse outcomes and renal recovery in established AKI patients. Methods: This was a single-center study prospectively enrolling 124 patients diagnosed with AKI. TIMP-2, IGFBP7, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), and kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1) levels were measured at the time of diagnosis and the predictive performance of short-term outcomes and renal recovery was assessed. Results: Patients were divided into 4 quartiles according to the initial urinary TIMP-2/IGFBP7 levels. Stage 3 AKI (odds ratio [OR], 17.86), classified by the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), as well as the third and fourth quartiles of TIMP-2/IGFBP7 (OR, 5.75 and 44.98, respectively), were found to be independent predictors of renal replacement therapy at the time of AKI diagnosis. In addition, KDIGO stage 3 AKI (OR, 2.468) or the third of fourth quartiles of urinary TIMP-2/IGFBP7 (OR, 1.896 and 3.622, respectively) were also found to be useful in predicting nonrecovery of renal function. In a separate analysis of patients with renal recovery at discharge, initial urinary TIMP-2/IGFBP7 or urinary IGFBP7 at discharge could also predict new-onset or progressive chronic kidney disease (CKD). Conclusions: In AKI patients, urine TIMP-2/IGFBP7 could serve as a biomarker for predicting adverse outcomes, renal recovery, or the development and progression of CKD.
동·서양 고전에 나타난 도덕적 통념에 관한 비판적 해석 -『논어』와 『에우티프론』에 나타난 아버지를 고발한 아들의 사례를 중심으로-

본 논문은 동서양의 고전 문헌에서 도덕적 통념에 관한 문제가 어떻게 다루어졌는지 고찰한 것이다. 이를 위해 『논어』에 나타난 `곧음(直)`에 관한 공자와 제자들의 대화, 『에우티프론』에 나타난 `경건함(?σιον)`에 관한 소크라테스와 에우티프론의 대화를 각각 분석하고, 그 철학적 함의를 검토하였다. 이를 통해 본 논문은, 공자와 소크라테스가 특정 도덕적 딜레마나 그것의 해결책 또는 특정 도덕관념에 대한 정의 자체에 관심이 있었다기보다, 독단적 자기 확신 또는 도덕적 통념에 관한 비판적 해석에 주안점을 두고 있었다는 것을 주장하였다. 결론적으로, 이들 철학자들은 아버지를 고발한 아들이라는 사례를 통해 우리의 삶에서 도덕적 믿음에 대한 반성적 태도가 중요함을 강조하며, 그 과정은 타자와의 대화를 수반한다는 점을 보여주고자 한 것이라 볼 수 있다. The aim of this study is to examine an issue of moral beliefs and moral conceptions in the Eastern and Western Classics. This paper focuses on the texts with one specific common material. That is the son who accused the father in the Analects(Lunyu) and the Plato`s Euthyphron. Confucius has a conversation with his follower about `Zhi(直)` and Socrates makes dialectical arguments with Euthyphron about a definition of `piety(to hosion)`. The philosophers critically examine opinions of the opposing parties to support the accusation. Other papers studied on aspects of moral dilemma(the private or the public, Physis and Nomos) or relation of religion and philosophy. But the important problem is relation between rightness(or justice) and honesty. In conclusion, this paper illuminates that the philosophers emphasize personal moral beliefs and their reflective attitudes toward one` own and lives, rather than the dilemma`s solution or the definition of moral ideas per se. Also, it is necessarily that the reflective courses involve a conversation with others.
조현병 환자의 언어성 환청과 정신병리의 PANSS 요인들 간의다차원적 관계

Objectives This study was aimed to examine the multidimensional relationship between auditory verbal hallucinations (AVHs) and Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) factors of psychopathology in the patients with schizophrenia. And we explored the differences between assessments to hallucination by the clinicians and patients. Methods 82 patients with schizophrenia who were assessed by the Hamilton Program for Schizophrenia Voices Questionnaire (HPSVQ), Psychotic Symptom Rating Scale-Auditory Hallucination (PSYRATS-AHS), and the PANSS were recruited. Hwang's five-factor model of PANSS, items and total scores of hallucination scales, Kim's and Haddock's factor models of hallucination were applied to examine the correlations between psychopathology and AVHs. AVH-positive patients was 50 in PANSS-HPSVQ group and 24 in PANSS-PSYRATS-AHS. These two groups were separately analyzed. Results Among the five factors of the PANSS, negative and depression/anxiety factors were correlated with the total scores of HPSVQ and PSYRATS-AHS, and positive and autistic preoccupation factors were correlated only with the total score of PSYRATS-AHS. The activation factor was correlated with none of the total scores of HPSVQ/PSYRATS-AHS. These correlation patterns of a total score of HPSVQ/PSYRATS-AHS were same in the emotional factor of HPSVQ and physical factor of PSYRATS-AHS respectively. In the items which showed significant correlations, correlation coefficients of PANSS-PSYRATS-AHS group ranged between 0.406-0.755 and those of PANSS-HPSVQ ranged between 0.283-0.420. Conclusions This study suggested that the psychopathological domains of schizophrenia were differentially correlated with AVHs and the assessment of AVHs by clinicians and patients showed substantial differences which should be integrated into the therapeutic interventions.

Biomass, a carbon neutral fuel, is one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources. In this study, economic feasibility of small scale power generation system using syngas from biomass has been investigated. Effects of important variables such as capital investment, cost of waste wood, renewable energy certificate(REC), system marginal price(SMP) on the benefit of business have been analyzed. Internal rate of return(IRR) was predicted as 16.90%, which implicates the business is promising based on the assumptions such as SMP of 137 Won/kWh, capital cost of 4.7 billion won, and waste wood price of 30 thousand won. Major factors affecting the benefit of business are as follows; system marginal price, operational rate, capital investment, expenditure of waste wood, certified emission reduction.
Thermoelectric Properties of Cu-added Polycrystalline Bi2O2Se Oxyselenide

Bi2O2Se oxyselenide has been actively studied as a potential n-type thermoelectric material becauseof its intrinsically low thermal conductivity and high Seebeck coefficient (S). However, Bi2O2Se has very lowelectrical conductivity (σ), resulting in relatively poor thermoelectric performance. Herein, we investigate theeffect of Cu addition on the electrical and thermal transport of n-type polycrystalline Bi2O2Se. A series ofCuxBi2O2Se (x = 0, 0.0025, 0.005, and 0.0075) polycrystalline samples were synthesized by a conventional solid state reaction. Tetragonal Bi2O2Se was successfully synthesized, and its lattice parameters graduallydecreased with the addition of Cu. Further, σ decreased and the magnitude of S increased with increasingCu content, according to the trade-off relationship between these parameters. Consequently, a maximumpower factor of 0.106 mW m-1 K-2 was achieved for the sample with x = 0.0025 at 300 K, owing to the increasein the magnitude of S. The Hall carrier concentration decreased exponentially with the addition of Cu, whichis mainly attributed to the possible enlargement of the band gap of the Cu-added samples. The lattice thermalconductivity decreased with increasing x, which was attributed to point-defect phonon scattering via Cuaddition. Therefore, a maximum zT of 0.222 was obtained at 790 K for the Cu0.0025Bi2O2Se (x = 0.0025) sample,which was approximately 8% higher than that of the pristine Bi2O2Se sample.
Effects of partially earth-anchored cable system on dynamic wind response of cable-stayed bridges

In this study, a partially earth-anchored cable system is studied in order to reduce the dynamic wind response of cable-stayed bridges. The employment of earth-anchored cables changes the dynamic characteristics of cable-stayed bridges under wind loads. In order to estimate the changes in the member forces, the spectral analysis for wind buffeting loads are performed and the peak responses are evaluated using 3-D finite element models of the three-span cable-stayed bridges with the partially earth-anchored cable system and with the self-anchored cable system, respectively. Comparing the results for the two different models, it is found that the earth-anchored cables affect longitudinal and vertical modes of the bridge. The changes of the natural frequencies for the longitudinal modes remarkably decrease the peak bending moment in the pylon and the movements at the expansion joints. The small changes of the natural frequencies for the vertical modes slightly increase bending moments and deflections in the girder. The original effects of the partially earth-anchored cable system are also shown under wind loads; the decrement of girder axial forces and bearing uplifting forces, and the increment of cable forces in the earth-anchored cables.
