The fish fauna and the structure of fish community were surveyed at five stations of Jaho stream area from April to November 1999. During the surveyed period 23 species belonging 11 families were collected. Of them the endemic species of Korea were as follows: Acheilognathus yamatsutae, A. koreensis, Coreoleuciscus splendidus, Coreoperca herzi, Uobagrus mediadiposalls, Nmaella mu/tifasciata, Odontobutis platycephala, Pseudobagrus brevicorpus, Silurus microdorsalis and Squalidus gracilis majimae. The dominant species were Zacco temmincki (25.32%) and Pungtungia herzi (14.52%). The species diversity, evenness and dominance index of the fish communities were respectively 1.117, 0.821 and 0.113. These result indicated that the fish communities in this surveyed area were diverse and comparatively stable in species composition.

This ichthyofauna and structure of fish community of Miryang Dam area were surveyed at six stations of Miryang Dam area from April to October 2002. During the surveyed period 20 species belonging to 16 genera and 7 families were collected. Of them cyprinid fish occupied 11 species(55%); cobitids fish were next with 2 species (15%). The cominent species were Zacco temmincki and the subdominent species Zacco platypus. Among the collected species, Z. temmincki, Puntungia herzi and Coreoperca herzi were in existence at each stations. As the result of analyzing fish community in the surveyed area, the species diversity, evenness and dominant indicate that the community structure was diverse and stable in species composition.

The spermatozoa of Leiocassis nitidus are relatively simple cells composed of a spherical head, a short midpiece, and a tail, as in most Siluriformes. The ultrastructure is characterized by the following features: Acrosome absent, as in most teleosts; around nucleus about $1.8\;{\mu}m$ long, with a deep nuclear fossa containing the proximal and distal centrioles and mitochondria. Two centrioles approximately $180^{\circ}$ from each other; 10 or more mitochondria surrounding the axoneme (with a 9+2 microtubular pattern), arranged in two layers in the postnuclear cytoplasm and separated from the axoneme by the cytoplasmic canal. Two lateral fins on the same plane as the two central microtubules; doublets 3 and 8, which are ultrastructural characteristics of the sperma tail unlike other siluroids laking the lateral fins.

We have confirmed the first case of mass mortality which occurred in the wild populations of larval toad, Bufo bufo gargarizans during 2007~2009 at Mangwel pond, which is a long time breeding site, and is located at the south eastern area in Daegu. We have investigated through microbiological tests the cause of mass decease of the larval toad, and detected numerous bacteria from the intestine by histological examines and cultures. The pathogen isolated from the infected larval toads has been identified as Aeromonas hydrophila, which is widely distributed in aquatic environment. However, this phenomenon of mass lethal pattern of the larval toad disappeared at the breeding pond after maintaining better water levels and low temperature in spring during breeding season in 2010. We propose that the high temperatures during the 2007~2009 breeding season resulted in lower water levels and drier conditions leading to explosive propagation of A. hydrophila in the pond which impacted the larval toad`s immune function.
