Theoretical Approach to Spin-current Absorption at an Interface

We study the spin current induced by an inhomogeneous spin-orbit coupling due to impurities byusing the Keldysh Green’s function formalism. In particular, we focus on the diffusive contributionsand give their analytical expressions. A spin current is found to be generated in the presence ofboth a gradient in the spin-orbit strength and a gradient in the external electric field. The resultingdiffusive spin current indicates the presence of spin-current absorption at the interface between thematerials with different spin-orbit coupling strengths, which is exemplified with an experimentallyrelevantsetup.

Capacity Choice in an International Mixed Triopoly

This paper considers a mixed triopoly model where a state-owned firm, a domestic labor-managed firm and a foreign capitalist firm are allowed to pre-install capacity as a strategic commitment device. First, each firm can choose its capacity level simultaneously and independently. None of the firms can reduce or dispose of capacity. Second, each firm chooses its output level simultaneously and independently. The paper presents the equilibrium outcomes of the international triopoly model. We find that the equilibrium outcomes are not profitable for the foreign capitalist firm.

Organic light emitting transistors which are vertically combined with the organic static induction transistor and organic lightemitting diode are fabricated and the device characteristics depending on the structure of gate electrode are investigated. Byoptimizing the layer thickness and the size of slit-type Al gate electrode, high luminance modulation by low gate voltage as high as 1V are obtained. The organic light emitting transistor described here is a suitable element for exible sheet displays..

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the safety of niraparib 300 mg/dayin Japanese patients with platinum-sensitive, relapsed ovarian cancer in a maintenance setting. Methods: Phase 2, multicenter, open-label, single-arm study enrolled Japanese patients withplatinum-sensitive, relapsed ovarian cancer who had received ≥2 platinum-based regimens. The primary endpoint (incidence of grade 3 or 4 thrombocytopenia-related events within 30days after initial niraparib administration) was justified by the incidences of a global pivotalphase 3 study and its post-hoc safety analysis on thrombocytopenia, the major hematologicaladverse event of niraparib. The overall safety analysis examined other treatment-emergentadverse events (TEAEs). Results: Enrolled patients (n=19) had a median (min, max) body weight of 53.9 (40.8–79.1)kg; all but one patient weighed <77 kg. Most (94.7%) patients initially received niraparib300 mg/day but this decreased in subsequent cycles (mean±standard deviation doseintensity, 191.6±65.7 mg/day). In total, 6/19 (31.6%) patients experienced grade 3 or 4 thrombocytopenia-related events within 30 days of initial niraparib administration. Other common TEAEs included nausea, and decreased platelet or neutrophil counts. Noprogression-free or overall survival events occurred; only 1 of 4 response-evaluable patientshad a post-baseline tumor assessment (stable disease). Conclusion: The incidence of grade 3 or 4 thrombocytopenia-related events in Japaneseovarian cancer patients was similar to that in the corresponding non-Japanese study. Overall,the safety profile was acceptable and consistent with the known safety profile and previousexperience with niraparib. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03759587

Brathing oxygen under high pressure increases the concentration of oxygen in the blood and reduces hypoxia. Hyperbaric oxygen(HBO) is useful in treating many diseases. It is used orthopedics, for example, to treat anaerobic gas gangrene. At our hospital good results were obtained using it adjunctively to the surgical and antibiotic treatment of soft tissue infections (including aerobic infections).
