When Al-Ti-C master alloys are produced via the conventional Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis(SHS), the reduction of production temperature below 1523 K leads to the drastic deterioration of the refiner efficacy. In the present work, a simple yet effective way to improve the combustion process for low TiC-containingrefiners is proposed. The SHS reaction was performed to obtain Al-10TiC slurry first, which subsequently wasmixed with Al-Ti melt to obtain Al-5Ti-0.2C master alloy. By means of the proposed method, the process temperaturewas lowered to 1323 K. According to the results, in the case of improved SHS approach, the Al temperatureafter the onset of reaction increases by 90-100 K more than in the case of conventional preparation route, providing better kinetic conditions for TiC formation. As a result, at 1323 K production temperature, the averagecarbide size increases by 100% as compared to the conventionally produced refiner, which is claimed to be a reasonfor the improved refining performance of master alloy.
An Economic and Institutional Analysis of Multi-Port Gateway Regions in the Black Sea Basin
Kateryna Grushevska,Theo Notteboom 인하대학교 정석물류통상연구원 2014 JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS AND TRADE Vol.12 No.2
The concept of ‘multi-port gateway region’ has been introduced by Notteboom (2010) and has been applied to important seaport markets such as Europe and Asia. However, the dynamics and port development patterns in secondary multi-port gateway regions, such as the Black Sea region, have received far less attention in academic literature. An empirical application of established spatial and functional development models to such secondary port regions might substantiate the external validity of these models as these ports operate in a different spatial, economic and institutional environment. The aim of the paper is to characterize the spatial dynamics of container ports of the Black Sea multi-port gateway regions by testing the validity of established spatial models on port system development. Furthermore, the expected future evolution path for port hierarchy in the Black Sea basin is discussed. By doing so, the paper assesses to what extent the Black Sea port region is following an ‘expected’ development path as portrayed in a number of port system development models, or alternatively, can be characterized as an atypical port system following its own development logic.

Al-5Ti-0.2C, Al-0.8Ti-0.2C, Al-8Ti-2C, and Al-10Ti master alloys were prepared and used to investigate theinfluence of excess Ti on the growth of TiC particles and its ability to nucleate Al-grains. The results of a microstructureanalysis of TiC-containing alloys and refined CPAl were interrelated to the results of a refinement test. Itwas found that the presence of excess Ti is essential at the stage of master alloy preparation, as it facilitates thegrowth and uniform distribution of TiC within the structure. In Al-5Ti-0.2C alloy containing excess Ti, carbideparticles grow faster and to a higher extent (from 0.29 μm to 0.44 μm) compared to Al-0.8Ti-0.2C alloy producedwithout excess Ti (from 0.29 μm to 0.32 μm). The results support the “Ti-transition zone theory” as the mechanismof grain refinement by TiC-containing master alloys. The refinement performance of Al-5Ti-0.2C is superiorcompared to the one achieved by adding Al-8Ti-2C and Al-10Ti master alloys in corresponding concentrations. For the TiC particles to become favourable nucleating sites, they must undergo certain interaction with excess Ti atthe stage of master alloy preparation.
A Novel Flag-Language Remote Control Design for a Laparoscopic Camera Holder Using Image Processing

Minimally invasive surgeries(MIS) possess obvious advantages for patients but require more specially trained personnel than common, open procedure. With modern advances in robotics, it becomes possible to ease these requirements by introducing robotized assistants into operation. However, for robot-assisted solo MIS, it is crucial to have appropriate methods for robot control. This work presents a design of flag language as a novel human-to-robot communication method based on image processing of the endoscope video during real-time intervention. The proposed system comprises autonomous positioning of endoscope holder combined with recognition of surgeon intention by analyzing surgical instrument postures. The proposed algorithm has been evaluated using experimental setup as well as video clips from laparoscopic operation. Experimental results show that the flag posture can be detected satisfactorily with speed of 12 frames per second, as well as system robustness under moderate lighting and noise conditions.

The article examines one of the most important means of visualization of mass information on the Internet - information graphics in the broadest sense of the term as a visual technology for presenting mass information. The main objectives of the article are to determine the genre-typological features of infographics and basic technological principles; identification of features of creation and use of information graphics in modern network. Certain benefits of online infographic editors include savings in resources and time. They allow the user, who has basic PC skills, to create standardized infographics based on their own data. In addition, the use of online services develops visual thinking, allows you to get an idea of quality criteria and current trends in infographics, as well as to gain initial experience in the visual presentation of data.

Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONs) are frequently used in various biomedical applications, in particular as magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents in liver imaging. Indeed, number of IONs have been withdrawn due to their poor clinical performance. Yet comprehensive understanding of their interactions with hepatocytes remains relatively limited. Here we investigated how iron oxide nanocubes (IO-cubes) and clusters of nanocubes (IO-clusters) affect distinct human hepatic cell lines. The viability of HepG2, Huh7 and Alexander cells was concentration-dependently decreased after exposure to either IO-cubes or IO-clusters. We found similar cytotoxicity levels in three cell lines triggered by both nanoparticle formulations. Our data indicate that different expression levels of Bcl-2 predispose cell death signaling mediated by nanoparticles. Both nanoparticles induced rather apoptosis than autophagy in HepG2. Contrary, IO-cubes and IO-clusters trigger distinct cell death signaling events in Alexander and Huh7 cells. Our data clarifies the mechanism by which cubic nanoparticles induce autophagic flux and the mechanism of subsequent toxicity. These findings imply that the cytotoxicity of ION-based contrast agents should be carefully considered, particularly in patients with liver diseases.

The article is devoted to current problems of the concept leadership. The essence of the concept of "leadership" is considered and leadership theories. The authors of the article conducted a multifaceted analysis of leadership theories, analyzed the factors of their formation and identified their relationship. Also, the reasons for the difference and connection between leadership and leadership. Styles were presented leadership and their role in building effective leadership. To form the basis of effective leadership was compared to the main criteria inherent in this theories. The following research methods were used in the work: theoretical (analysis of regulatory documents and scientific literature on the problem under study, comparison, generalization, modeling), empirical (diagnostics of the level of formation of managerial competencies of students of the system, questioning, observation, peer review, comparative qualitative and quantitative analysis of diagnostic results the level of formation of managerial competencies).
