        조선시대 연화문(蓮花紋)을 모티브로 한 현대패션디자인 연구

        As our world is becoming more and more globalized, nations tend to turn their interests towards their unique legacy and traditional culture. This research is intended to re-illuminate the Korean beauty through the Lotus Pattern, a traditional factor, from the Chosun Dynasty, and at the same time, analyze how its peculiar representation and figural elements can be reflected in modern fashion designs. The results will be an essential factor in creating exclusive and original designs. Research method was theoretical research from documents and to refer to positive data on preserved relics, and research contents consists of analysis on the use of lotus patterns in artworks that were exhibited during 2000 to 2008 by Korean and foreign artists. Results showed that lotus patterns that were used during the Chosun Dynasty are categorized by shape, composition form, and structural form. Applying these results, a total of 8 works were designed and created.

      • Visual and physical affective touch delivered by a rotary tactile stimulation device: A human psychophysical study

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The discovery that pleasant touch is coded by C-tactile fibers has generated considerable research interest and increased understanding of the skin as a channel for social information via cutaneous senses. However, no study has differentiated between the pleasant response to visual and tactile non-human stimulations. Our study investigated pleasant touch in which the visual and haptic touch information was obtained from an affective, but non-social experience, by a custom-built non-human device. Participants (n=19) received soft brush strokes on their lower left arm delivered by a rotary tactile stimulator (physical session) or watched a video of an arm being stroked by a rotary tactile stimulator (visual session). The brush strokes were delivered at the same velocities (0.3, 1, 3, 10, 30cm/s) and force (0.4N) in both sessions. After each trial, participants rated the pleasantness of the touch. Analysis of variance was used to assess the effects of velocity and modality (visual touch vs. physical touch) on the pleasantness rating. Participants rated strokes between 1 and 10cm/s as most pleasant under both conditions. The pleasantness rating patterns differed significantly among velocities; however, no significant differences were found between modalities. Visual and physical (without human-to-human interaction) touch elicited similar behavioral responses, including an inverted U-shaped perception of pleasantness. These findings suggest that the pleasantness of touch is influenced by the velocity of the strokes in both visual and physical touch with a non-human stimulation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Felt and seen touch elicits similar behavioral patterns of pleasantness. </LI> <LI> Affective touch is modulated by the velocity of stroking without an inter-personal interaction. </LI> <LI> The perception of pleasantness upon touch involves both visual and haptic information. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Identification and expression analysis of four heat shock protein genes associated with thermal stress in rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae

        In order to explore the function of heat shock proteins during thermal stress in rice weevil, Sitophilus oryzae, four heat shock protein genes were cloned and characterized. These heat shock protein genes (hsps) were named as Sohsp70–1, Sohsp70–2, Sohsc70, and Sohsp90, respectively. These hsps showed high sequence conservation with the maximum identity with hsps of Tribolium castaneum and other insects. All the four genes showed the highest mRNA expression in pupal stage and the lowest levels in larval stage. The induced expression of the two Sohsp70s (Sohsp70–1 and Sohsp70–2) were reached to the highest levels (15.59-fold and 12.66-fold) after 2 h of incubation at 37 °C, respectively. Expression of Sohsp90 not only was significantly elevated by heat stress but also by cold stress. Whereas, expression level of Sohsc70 was not induced either by heat or cold stress. Furthermore, for rapid heat hardening, the expression levels of Sohsp70–1, Sohsp70–2, Sohsc70 and Sohsp90 were observed as 2.57, 2.53, 3.33 and 2.33-fold higher than control, respectively; for rapid cold hardening, the expression levels of Sohsp70–1, Sohsp70–2, Sohsc70 and Sohsp90 were reported as 2.27, 3.02, 3.37 and 2.23-fold higher than control, respectively. Hence, our results revealed that the four Sohsps were associated with temperature adaption under rapid heat or cold hardening.

      • 회전익 무인기에 탑재된 열화상 센서를 이용한 콩 수분 스트레스 판별

        콩은 수분 영향을 크게 받는 작물 중 하나이며 수분 관리를 제대로 안될 시 생육 장해가 발생하고 수확량이 감소하기 때문에 본 연구에서 무인기에 탑재된 열화상 센서를 이용하여 콩의 수분 스트레스 여부 추정하기 위해 수행되었다. 실험 포장은 경상남도 밀양시에 위치하고 있으며 (35°26'59.8"N 128°47'08.2"E) 가로 6m, 세로 9m로 나누어진 18개 블럭으로 이루어져 있다. 관수(12곳), 미관수(6곳) 블록을 나누어 지하부에 수분 센서를 설치하고 자동관수 시스템을 이용하여 7월 28일부터 수확 전까지 관수량을 조절하였다. 회전익 무인기(Matrice 200 v2, DJI Technology Co. Ltd., China)에 열화상 센서(altum, Micasense Inc, USA)를 탑재하여 8월 1일부터 10월 4일까지 총 6차례 영상을 취득하였다. 취득한 개별 영상들은 하나의 영상으로 접합한 후 섭씨온도로 변환하여 콩 캐노피 영역 온도값을 추출하였다. 추출한 온도값을 이용하여 관수 여부에 따른 캐노피 온도 차이를 비교하였다. 또한 토양 수분함량과 생육데이터(생체중)를 t-test검정하여 수분 스트레스 여부를 추정하였다. 열화상 센서를 이용하여 관수 여부에 따른 캐노피 온도 차이 분석한 결과 2차례(8월 1일, 8월 19일) 기간에서 온도 차이가 나타났다(p<0.05). 반면에 나머지 4차례(8월 8일, 9월 6일, 9월 20일, 10월4일) 기간에서 온도 차이가 나타나지 않았는데 영상을 취득하기 전 날 강수영향으로 인해 캐노피 온도가 회복했을 것으로 판단된다. 관수 여부에 따른 토양 수분함량 및 생육 차이 분석한 결과 캐노피 온도 차이와 달리 8월 19일에서만 차이가 나타났다. 8월 1일에서 일부 관수 블럭의 배수가 불량하여 토양 내 수분이 과다로 양분 부족으로 인해 생육 부진이 나타난 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구를 통해 짧은 시간에 생육 상태를 진단하고 적정 시기에 수분 공급하여 재배 관리에 도움을 줄 것으로 판단된다.

      • The change of serum inflammatory markers and cytokines following anti-tuberculosis drug therapy.

        Introduction: Active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is associated with cell-mediated immunity. Multiple cytokines and inflammatory markers are known to have roles in control TB infection. In this study, we aimed to investigate the change of multiple cytokines and inflammatory markers in active TB patients following anti-TB drug therapy. Methods: Patients with active TB were prospectively recruited between December 2010 and February 2013 at Severance Hospital, in Seoul, South Korea. Treatment was based on the standard regimen of rifampicin (10 mg/kg body weight [BW]/day), isoniazid( 5 mg/kg BW/day), ethambutol (15-25 mg/kg BW/day),and pyrazinamide (15-30 mg/kg BW/day). Blood samples were collected from active TB patients (total n=18) at before (T0), after 2 months (T2), and after 6 months (T6) of anti-TB treatment. We measured the levels of IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-12, IL-10, IL-13, and TNF-αin the supernatant from the QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube assay (QFT-GIT) and WBC count, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, platelet count, red cell distribution width (RDW), mean platelet volume(MPV), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR). Results: Compared to baseline levels, IL-10, TNF-α in the supernatant from QFT-GIT, WBC count, neutrophil count, platelet count were produced in significantly lower amounts in response to the treatment. As for IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-12, IL-13 responses, the decrease of median values were not statistically significant. Also the results showed that the IL-10/ IFN-γ ratio of supernatant of QFT-GIT and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR)after treatment significantly decreased compared to the baseline, whereas the IL-2/ IFN-γ ratio of supernatant of QFT-GIT increased after treatment. Conclusions: In conclusion, IL-10, TNF-αin the supernatant from QFT-GIT, WBC count, neutrophil count, platelet count decreased following anti-TB drug therapy. And also the IL-2/IFN-γ ratio, IL-10/IFN-γ ratio of supernatant of QFT-GIT, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may be used as biomarkers to evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapy in active TB patients.

      • Change of lysophosphatidylcholine 16:0 predict 28-day mortality in sepsis patients admitted to the intensitve care unit : a prospective study using MALDI-TOF MS

        Purpose: Sepsis remains a critical problem worldwide and one of the main causes of death in intensive care units (ICU). We investigated plasma lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) 16:0 level using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) in ICU sepsis patients. Methods: Patients admitted medical ICU were prospectively enrolled from March 2017 through June 2018 at Severance Hospital. The inclusion criteria for the study were a fulfillment of at least 2 criteria of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) or presence of sepsis. The definition of sepsis followed the revised sepsis 3-definition. Results: Of the 120 enrolled patients, 15 patients were non-infectious SIRS, 37 patients were classified as sepsis and 68 were septic shock. Of these 105 patients who meet the sepsis diagnostic criteria, 70 patients survived and 35 patients were dead at 28-day. Mean plasma LPC concentration (μmol/L) of septic shock patients was significantly lower than those of non-infectious SIRS (26.55 vs. 70.65, p<0.001) and sepsis patients (26.55 vs. 48.50, p<0.01). The area under the curve (AUC) predicting 28-day mortality of ΔLPC16:0 (D7-D0) was 0.792 that was higher than APACHE II score (AUC;0.694) and SOFA score (AUC;0.678). In the multivariate analysis, LPC16:0 change less than cut-off value (Δ LPC16:0 (D7-D0) ≤14.859; HR, 5.467) were associated with increased 28-day mortality. Conclusion: Our results indicate that Δ LPC16:0 in sepsis patients using MALDI-TOF MS could help to better predict prognosis and mortality of sepsis patients in ICU.
