        ODD-EVEN GRACEFUL GRAPHS

        The Odd-Even graceful labeling of a graph G with q edges means that there is an injection f : V (G) to {1, 3, 5, ... , 2q +1} such that,when each edge uv is assigned the label| f(u) - f(v)|, the resulting edge labels are {2, 4, 6, ..., 2q}. A graph which admits an odd-even graceful labeling is called an odd-even graceful graph. In this paper, we prove that some well known graphs namely Pn, P+n , K1,n, K1,2,n, Km,n, Bm,n are Odd-Even graceful.

        Structural characterization of human CRTh2: a combined homology modeling, molecular docking and 3D-QSAR-based in silico approach

        <P>Chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells (CRTh2) is an important therapeutic target for the treatment of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis. In this study, we report the binding site analysis of CRTh2 through molecular docking and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) studies to explore the interaction of 2-(2-(benzylthio)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl) acetic acid derivatives. Various comparative models were generated using the available crystal structure of human delta opioid receptor (4N6H) as the template, and benzylthio acetic acid derivatives were docked into the predicted binding site region of human CRTh2 receptor. Surflex docking studies enabled us to identify that K5.43, Y4.60, N185, Y6.51, Q5.36, E6.58, T7.38 and H6.52 residues were the most crucial amino acids interacting with the ligand. In addition to docking, atom-by-atom matching and structure-based 3D-QSAR method CoMFA was performed. Based on better q (2) and r (2) (pred) values, the best predictions were obtained for the ligand-based (q (2) = 0.552, r (2) (pred) = 0.636) and for receptor-based (q (2) = 0.507, r (2) (pred) = 0.541) QSAR model, whose robustness and predictability were verified by external test set validation. The results correlate well with the previously reported mouse model, and our study serves as a guide for mutational studies of human CRTh2 and further experimental investigations on the synthesis of new CRTh2 antagonist.</P>

        Effect of various chromatographic terpenoid fractions of Luffa cylindrica seeds on in-vitro antimicrobial studies

        The objective of the present investigation is to evaluate the antimicrobial potency of the terpenoid fractions isolated from Luffa cylindrica seeds against various pathogenic microbes. The seeds were powdered and extracted with methanol in soxhlet appratus based on phytochemical screening. Three terpenoid components were isolated by column chromatography and identified by thin layer chromatography and chemical analysis which were designated as LCSF4*, LCSF6*& LCSF8*respectively. Disc diffusion method was employed to determine the antimicrobial effectiveness of test compounds I, II and III (LCSF4*, LCSF6*& LCSF8*) against 6 microbial species viz., Staphylococcus (S.)aureus, Bacillus (B.) subtilis, Escherichia (E.) coli, Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa, Candida (C.) albicans and Aspergillus niger. The disc was saturated with 100 µl of each compound, allowed to dry and introduced on the upper layer of seeded agar plate. The plates were incubated overnight at 37°C. Microbial growth was determined by measuring the zonal inhibition diameters. Compound I showed maximum potency against gram positive S. aureus (21 mm) in comparison with standard ciprofloxacin (38 mm), whereas the same compound was completely devoid of activity against both the fungi tested. Compound II was found to be highly sensitive against both the gram negative E. coli (20 mm)and P. aeruginosa (22 mm). Compound II was found to exhibit maximum potency against the fungi C. albicans (15 mm) and A. niger (20 mm). Compound III was found to be very effective against both the gram positive S. aureus (20 mm) and B. subtilis (15 mm) respectively.

        Search towards an insight for comparative anti-tumour effects of Wrightia tomentosa leaf & bark in ehrlich ascites carcinoma bearing mice

        In the present study, the ethanolic leaf and bark extract of Wrightia tomentosa were tested for comparative in vivo antitumour properties against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) tumour bearing mice at 100 and 200 mg/kg body weight doses given orally once daily for 16 days. The EAC mice receiving 100 and 200 mg/kg ethanolic leaf and bark extract showed a dose dependent elevation in tumour – free survival and a highest number of survivors were observed at 200 mg/ kg for leaf extract of ethanol, which was considered as an optimum dose for its anti neoplastic action. The Median survival time for this dose was approximately 44 days when compared with 23 days of non-drug treated controls. The results indicate that the administration of leaf extract not only increased the survival of animals with ascites tumour and reduced packed cell volume and viable tissue cell count, but also altered many hematological parameters changed during tumour progression, indicating the potent antitumour nature of leaf extract than the bark extract. Statistical analysis also reveals that the leaf extract showed highly significant anti tumour potency (p < 0.001) when compared with control.         Morphometric evaluation of great vein of Galen and its clinical implications

        The Galenic venous system plays a vital role in the drainage of blood from deeper parts of the brain. This venous system is contributed by many major veins. These veins are located closer to the pineal gland making the surgical approach in this region difficult. Any accidental injury or occlusion of the vein of Galen could lead to devasting results. Thus, studying the dimensions of the vein of Galen is more important. Hence, we aimed to evaluate the morphometry and trajectory to the vein of Galen. About 100 computed tomographic venography records were evaluated and the length, diameter of vein of Galen, angle between straight sinus and vein of Galen and distance from internal occipital protuberance and roof of fourth ventricle to vein of Galen were studied. The mean length and diameter of vein of Galen were 9.8±2.7 and 4.08±1.04 respectively. The mean angle between straight sinus and vein of Galen was 64.2°. The mean distance between external occipital protuberance and roof of fourth ventricle to vein of Galen were 52±6.9 and 33.3±4.5 respectively. No significant morphometric differences were observed between the age groups as well as between the sexs. The results obtained from this study may be helpful for the neurosurgeons in better understanding of the anatomy of the Galenic venous system and to adopt a safe surgical approach to improve the efficacy of the surgeries of the pineal gland and also in the region of vein of Galen.

      • FIREFLY ALGORITHM BASED TUNING OF PID CONTROLLER FOR MULTIPLE DELAY SYSTEM

        This paper is concerned with the tuning of controller for multiple delay system process. To compensate the effect of time resulting from transportation of materials and energy is essential in process industries. It is very hard to control the process with dead time. The control performance of genetic algorithm is compared with firefly algorithm employed to obtain the optimal control parameters for gain-scheduling Smith-PID controller. Simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
