<P>We report the measurement of the gamma p -> K+Lambda and gamma p -> K+Sigma(0) reactions at SPring-8. The differential cross sections and photon-beam asymmetries are measured at forward K+ production angles using linearly polarized tagged-photon beams in the range of E-gamma = 1.5-3.0 GeV. With increasing photon energy, the cross sections for both gamma p -> K+Lambda and gamma p -> K+Sigma(0) reactions decrease slowly. Distinct narrow structures in the production cross section have not been found at E gamma = 1.5-3.0 GeV. The forward peaking in the angular distributions of cross sections, a characteristic feature of t-channel exchange, is observed for the production of Lambda in the whole observed energy range. A lack of similar feature for Sigma(0) production reflects a less dominant role of t-channel contribution in this channel. The photon-beam asymmetries remain positive for both reactions, suggesting the dominance of K* exchange in the t channel. These asymmetries increase gradually with the photon energy, and have a maximum value of +0.6 for both reactions. Comparison with theoretical predictions based on the Regge trajectory in the t channel and the contributions of nucleon resonances indicates the major role of t-channel contributions as well as non-negligible effects of nucleon resonances in accounting for the reaction mechanism of hyperon photoproduction in this photon energy regime.</P>

We have studied(??) reactions from an emulsion target. The S--2H dibaryon has been searched for by the analysis of the ??? momentum spectrum together with emulsion data. No evidence of H production was observed in the mass range of 1.90-2.16 GeV/c². Upper limits for the production cross section of the H are (0.2-0.6)% of that for the quasifree ??? production at the 90% confidence level.

Three ecotypes of tomato (Ogata Zuiko, Moneymaker and Roma) were grown in different seasons. The dry matter accumulation and its partition and the leaf area expansion were compared. Parallel with the growth analysis, the yield was compared udner both the soil and solution culture. The differential growth occured between the cropping seasons and among the three cultivars. The partition of photoassimilate into fruit occurred sufficiently in Monymaker than in the other two cultivars. According this fact, Moneymaker seemed to be a heat tolerant cultivar. The behaviour of growth parameters differed with seasons and cultivars. RGR was affected by NAR rather than LAR because the seasonal changes of RGR were fitter with NAR than with LAR. Although the lower lower contribution of LAR to RGR, LAR seemed to be more influenced by LWR than SLA. There were no obvious differences among cultivars between the solution concentration in yield. Moneymaker showed the tendency to early flowering.

Modulation-doped ZnSe:Te samples, which indicate quite strong emissions at 2.68 (S1) and 2.42 (S2) eV at low temperatures, have been grown by using MBE. The samples consist of a ZnSe-ZnTe superstructure with ultra-thin ZnTe layers. The sample, which has S1 and S2 emission bands simultaneously, has a carrier transfer process from the S1 to the S2 state. The process leads to a super-linear dependence of the intensity of the S1 emission on the excitation intensity. We predict that the S1 and the S2 band construct a double well potential in the sample which indicates both emissions simultaneously. We have studied 80 events of candidates for ??? capture star at rest in nuclear emulsion, where ??? hyperons are produced in (??????) reactions identified by a ?? spectrometer. The weak decay of heavy double hypernuclei is confirmed, studying the distribution of visible energy-release and the probability of emission of two fast protons, in comparison with those for single hypernuclei.

We determined scattering length and effective range of ΛΛ scattering for the ΛΛ relative energy (M_(ΛΛ)-2M_Λ) from ΛΛ threshold to 30 MeV/c_2. Phase shift of the ΛΛ wave function which described by scattering length and effective range was determined by fitting the ΛΛ mass spectrum. The obtained scattering length -0.10^(+0.37)_(-1.56) ± 0.04, and effective range 13.90 ^(+14.35)_(-9.13) ± 10.53 fm is the most consistent with the values predicted by using a series of the Nijmegen soft core models NSC97's. However the predicted values by using the Nijmegen hard core model ND (G-matrix), the extended soft core model ESC00, and the Kyoto-Niigata FSS are out of three standard deviations from the determined scattering parameters. Further, we determine ΛΛ potential by fitting the ΛΛ invariant mass spectrum using numerically solved ΛΛ wave function with two-Gaussian shaped potential well. The ΛΛ scattering parameters derived from the wave function are found to be scattering length -0.09, and effective range 29.34 fm with a maximum phase shift of 2.4 deg.

Te-doped ZnSe indicates strong emission bands in the blue-green region at low temperatures. The ZnSe-ZnTe superlattices with thin ZnTe layers (less than 1 monolayer), whose X-ray proles show a trace of satellite peaks due to the superstructure, have very high photoluminescence (PL) efficiency at 2.3 eV at room temperature. In the samples that have no superstructure in the X-ray measurements, Te acts as an isoelectronic impurity indicating strong PL at only low temperatures. In the sample with a superstructure, the ZnTe parts consist of dots with high PL efficiency. Te-doped ZnSe indicates strong emission bands in the blue-green region at low temperatures.
