        개 비강에서 발생한 악성 흑색종의 영상 진단 증례

        A neutered male, 8-year-old, Pekingese, weighing 4.3 kg with a history of anorexia, sneezing, nasal discharge, and epistaxis for one month was referred. Soft tissue swelling around the nasal bone and small defects of the hard palate with a tiny round dark red mass were found on physical examination. The laboratory tests represented mild leukocytosis. On skull radiographs, soft tissue swelling and osteolytic change of the incisor bone, nasal bone, and maxilla were found. On computed tomography scan images, there was soft tissue attenuating opacity with calcified spots in the bilateral nasal cavities and frontal sinuses. Loss of nasal turbinate pattern and nasal septum was found. And destruction of the insicor bone, nasal bone, maxilla, hard palate, perpendicular palatine bone, and cribriform plate were identified. Nasal malignant melanoma was confirmed by nasal biopsy.

        개에서 발생한 간 농양의 진단 영상과 치료 증례

        A castrated male, 4-year old, Dachshund weighing 5.3 kg with an acute history of anorexia, vomiting, severe depression, and hypothermia for 1 day was referred. Severe leukopenia, mild increased hepatic enzymes, and mild imbalanced electrolyte were found on laboratory tests. There are no remarkable findings on abdominal radiographs. Ultrasonography showed multifocal heterogeneous and hypoechoic round regions in the liver. Ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration and drainage were performed and hepatic abscess was diagnosed. The patient was recovered normally without any complications through aggressive medical treatments from the result of culture and sensitivity test.

        딴곳요관증과 요막관 잔존증 증례 보고

        An intact male, 3-month-old, Great Pyrenees mountain dog, weighing 7.3 kg with a history of severe hematuria during 2 months was referred. Hematology showed mild leukocytosis. There were no remarkable findings in abdominal radiographs due to ingesta and gas in the gastrointestinal tracts. Ultrasonographs showed bilateral hydronephrosis, bilateral dilated and tortuous ureters, and hyperechoic sludges in the urinary bladder (UB). And a dilated cavity was identified cranial to the UB. Excretory urography and cystography were performed to examine the cause of hydronephrosis and an abnormal cavity cranial to the UB. Bilateral ureters were tortuously dilated and opened into the craniodorsal part of the UB. An abnormal cavity was connected to the UB at the left cranioventral part of the UB. Therefore bilateral ectopic ureters and urachal remnant were diagnosed.

        소금민감성 SLC12A3 유전자 다형성에 따른 나트륨섭취가 소아비만에 미치는 영향

        소아기의 과체중 혹은 비만은 성인기의 만성질환의 onset 위험을 증가시키는 대사이상을 야기하므로 관련된 obesogenic 환경 (나트륨 섭취 등)을 제어할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 소아기의 과도한 소금섭취가 신장의 재흡수 기능을 조절하는 SLC12A3기능장애로 이어져 고혈압 및 비만을 야기하는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 서울 구로구에 소재한 8~9세 초등학생 752명 (남학생: 379명 여학생: 373명)을 대상으로 BMI가 85 percentiles이상을 비만군으로, 이하를 정상군으로 분류하였다. SLC12A3 rs11643718 유전자형은 GG (wild)와 GA + AA로 분류하여 신체계측, 혈액검사, 식이조사 등을 비교분석하였다 대상자의 남아가 여아보다, 비만군이 정상군보다 신체지수, 혈액지수, 식사섭취량이 여아보다 높았다. 남녀 모두 비만군에서 높은 TG와 낮은 HDLc를 보여주었지만 비만한 남아는 혈압에, 비만한 여아는 인슐린저항성에 더 민감한 반응을 보였다. 비록 남녀차이는 있지만 비만군 및 정상군 모두에서 SLC12A3의 GA + AA형이 GG형보다 혈압과 체중이 높았다. GG 유전자형을 가지고 있는 소아는 혈중 LDLc, FBS, insulin등이 높거나 식이 콜레스테롤섭취가 증가할수록 비만이 될 위험도가 증가하였고 엽산의 섭취가 증가할수록 비만위험도는 감소하였다. 반면, GA + AA 유전자형을 가지고 있는 소아는 고나트륨 (> 4,000 mg/day)섭취시 비만위험도 (odd ratio)가 15.57배 증가하였고 남아 (22.84배)에서 더욱 위험도가 높았다. HDLc의 경우는 유전자형에 관계없이 증가할수록 비만위험도가 감소하였다. 결론적으로 SLC12A3 (rs11643718) 유전자의 A allele를 가진 형이 나트륨에 특이적으로 반응하여 과체중위험을 증가시키는 것으로 생각된다. Purpose: Obesogenic environments in children, in particular excessive intake of sodium, generate hypertension, which is a major risk factor for chronic diseases. Methods: In all, 725 children, 379 boys and 373 girls, aged 8~9 years were recruited from seven elementary schools in Kuro-ku, Seoul. To evaluate whether or not obesity risk was modulated by salt-sensitive genes, Solute Carrier Familiy 12 member 3 (SLC12A3) was used as the target. After children were assigned into obese (BMI > 85 percentile) or non-obese groups, anthropometry, blood biochemistry, and dietary intakes were measured according to the genotypes GG (wild) or GA+AA (hetero+mutant). Results: Without gender differences, high TG and low HDLc were detected in the obese group compared to the non-obese group. Regardless of obesity, weight gain and blood pressure (BP) increased in the SLC12A3 GA+AA genotype rather than in the GG type. HDLc was associated with obesity risk without genotype difference. Odd ratios for risk of obesity were 15.57 (95% CI 2.192~110.654), 22.84 (95% CI 1.565~333.469), and 9.32 (95%CI 1.262~68.817) in boys and girls with GA+AA genotypes as sodium intake increased above 4,000 mg/day. Dietary calcium, sodium, folate, and vit C were associated with obesity risk according to gender or genotype differences. Since high folate intake reduced obesity risk in only boys with GG type. Risk for overweight and obesity increased in boys with GA+AA genotypes and dietary habits with high sodium and cholesterol and low folate. Conclusion: The A allele of SLC12A3 rs11643718 was sensitive to development of obesity in children as sodium intake increased.

        국내 학술지에 게재된 합곡혈 임상연구 동향

        Objectives : Hapgok (LI4) is one of the most widely used acupoints in clinical practice. This study aims to investigate the trend of clinical studies including LI4 acupoint stimulation in Korea. Methods : Papers of clinical researches including LI4 acupoint stimulation in Korean journals were searched in Korean databases of Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, Korean Studies Information Service System, Korea Citation Index, DBpia, Research Information Sharing Service, and ScienceON. The papers were then analyzed focusing on the number of publications by year, the types of the clinical research, interventions, research topics, institutes, and journals. Results : A total of 154 publications were included in this study. The first paper was published in 1981, and the number of papers has gradually increased since the 1990s. Although LI4 acupoint stimulation was included, most of the papers had additional acupoints and interventions. Diseases of the nervous system were the most common, followed by diseases of the digestive system and diseases of the circulatory system. Kyung Hee University is the institution that published the most papers, and the journal that published the most papers is The Journal of Korean Oriental Internal Medicine. Conclusions : Since the 1990s, the number of clinical studies on LI4 acupoint has increased. However, the results of the studies are insufficient to prove the efficacy of LI4 acupoint because most of the studies were case reports using additional acupoints and interventions. Therefore, more rigorous studies are needed to prove the efficacy of LI4 acupoint.

        Hematology and Serum Chemistry Values of Growing Miniature Pigs

        본 실험의 목표는 미니돼지에서 성성숙 전까지의 성장단계에서 혈액성분을 조사하는 것이다. 12마리 돼지를 이용하여 정맥에서 채혈하였다. 전혈과 혈청을 사용하여 혈액 및 혈액 화학치를 분석하였다. 그리고 성장단계별의 조사에서 각 성분은 평균과 표준편차로 나타내었다. 혈액분석에서 적혈구와 적혈구용적 그리고 혈소판에서 유의치 있는 변화가 있었다. 특히 적혈구와 적혈구용적은 4주령 군에서 가장 낮은 수치를, 반면에 혈소판은 4주령에서 가장 높은 수치를 보였다. 혈액 화학치에서는 glucose, GGT에서 유의치 있는 변화가 있었으며, 나머지 성분에서는 유의치 있는 변화가 없었다. 이러한 기본적인 혈액 및 혈액 화학치는 미니돼지의 정상 혈액학 연구와 그리고 성장단계별 이른 시기에 정상돼지를 판별하는데 유용하리라 생각된다. The purpose of this study was to establish blood reference values for miniature pigs from various growth ages before pre-puberty. 12 miniature pigs from two swine farms were sampled by jugular venipuncture. Routine hematological and biochemical determinations were performed using whole blood and serum. For the variables examined in each age group the means and the standard deviations were calculated. In hematological values, there are significant changes (p<0.05) in RBC, hematocrit and platelet values in each group. In RBC and hematocrit values, 4-week group shows the lowest level, whereas in platelet values, 4-week group shows the highest level. In biochemical values, there are significant chnges (p<0.05) in glucose and GGT in each group, and in other biochemical values there are no significant changes during growing periods. The values presented here may be useful for knowing the normal values for miniature pigs and also screening the normal pigs in the early days of their life and during the developemental stages.

        개에서 자궁축농증과 병발한 척추원반염 1례

        Discospondylitis is an infection of intervertebral discs, associated end plates, and adjacent vertebral bodies causing destruction and proliferation. A 10-year-old intact female Rhodesian Ridgeback dog was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Seoul National University with paraparesis and severe pain at T13-L1 region for one week duration. The treatment with PDS for one week by referring veterinarian showed no clinical improvement. At time of presentation, clinical signs of the patient included depression, vaginal discharge, and fever. In T-L spine radiography, osteolytic change was found between caudal endplate of T13 and cranial endplate of L1. The affected vertebral bodies were shortened and intervertebral disc space was widened. In abdominal radiography, a dilated soft tissue opacity tubular structure was found in mid-caudal abdomen. The abdominal ultrasonography revealed the uterus dilated with echogenic fluid. The CT findings showed concentric lysis of T13-L1 endplates. The dog was diagnosed as diskospondylitis at T13-L1 and pyometra. Urine and blood were cultured, and Staphylococcus (S.) intermedius was identified. The patient had surgical treatment for pyometra but died for septicemia.
