Metallothionein (MT), a small protein molecule which can bind of release metal tons, is involved in the regulation of cellular metal homeostasis This study was investigated the accumulation of cadmium in blood, tissue (liver, kidney and brain), and the effect of cadmium on several key genes (MT-Ⅰ, MT-Ⅱ, ZnT-1) in zinc metabolism m the mouse Mouses weighing 20-25g were randomly assigned to control and cadmium treated group (Cd group) Cd group was intraperitoneally injected with cadmium 2, 4, 8 mg/kg and control group was administerd with saline Mouses of each group were sacrificed by decapitation 4 hours after the administration of cadmium Cadmium contents in blood, fiver, kidney and brain were increased by a dose-dependent manner Accumulation of cadmium was mainly occurred in liver and kidney Induction of MT-I and MT-11 protein was increased, but ZnT-1 expression was decreased to a dose-dependent manner by the treatment of 2~8mg/kg cadmium These results suggested that cadmium can be transported to brain and alter the expression of several key genes in zinc homeostasis.

Although numerous studies have shown that cadmium disturbs the normal biological processes in central nervous system the mechanism of toxicity is not well understood The present study has investigated the effect of cadmium on oxidative stress, Na+/K- ATPase activity and the aggregation of amyloid beta peptide(β-amylotd) in neuronal cell Ime, HT22 cell LC_(5) and LC_(50) of cadmium for HT22 cell resulted from MTT assay was 4 1 μM and 9 5 μM, respectively Cadmium(2 to 8 μM) dose-dependently increased the lipid peroxidation and decreased the content of glutathione Cadmium 4 μM showed a significant decrease in Na^(-)/K^(+) ATPase activity as compared with control group The aggregation of P-amyloid was accelerated in a dose-dependent manner by the treatment with 2 to 8 μM cadmium These results suggest that the neurotoxicity of cadmium can be mediated by the increase in oxidative stress and decrease in Na^(-)/K^(+) ATPase activity.

Gastritis cystica profunda (GCP) is a disease characterized by hyperplastic and significant extension of cystic dilatation of the gastric mucous glands, which results in a cystic lesion in gastric submucosa. It often occurs on the part of gastroenterostomy, but can be found in the stomach without any previous surgery. GCP has variable gross finding including solitary polyps, diffuse ones, submucosal tumors, and rare giant gastric mucosal fold. It is difficult to tell GCP from a cancerous lesion by gross finding that the disease demands a necessary tissue biopsy, though GCP is commonly showed as a benign in the progress. We report a case of GCP in polypoid types diagnosed by endoscopic polypectomy.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate(DEHP) is a plasticizer and is known as one of endocrine disruptors. This study was carried out to investigate the ultrastructural changes of prostate during differentiation in male rat after oral administration of DEHP in dosages of 1g/kg, 2g/kg or 3g/kg in 0.5mℓ of corn oil daily for 15 days. In rats treated with DEHP, the prostate exhibited extensive histological alterations compared to that observed in controls. Many of the glandular lumens in the prostate were collapsed or reduced in width. The alteratrions of epithelial cells in the prostate of DEHP treaten rat were characterized by the increases of the nuclear to cytoplasm ratio and the heterochromatin, the reductions of rough endoplasmic reticulum and secretory vesicle, and the irregularity of nuclear envelope. In conclusion, DEHP altered the structure and function of male rat prostate, dose-dependently. It is suggested that these detrimental effects of DEHP are due to the decreased level of testosterone.

A study of short and long fatigue crack growth has been carried out on 7075-Al and 7075-Al-SiC particle reinforced composite materials. The addition of particulate reinforcement to 7075-Al matrices caused an increase in modulus while strength and ductility decrease. In the heavily reinforced composities, 7075Al-25% SiCp, short fatigue crack iniation was associated with residual porosity caused by incomplete consolidation in regions of high particulate density. Short fatigue crack growth data ere generated for 7075Al-25% SiCp at 290 MPa < σmax< 371 Mpa. The addition of SiC particulate reinforcement did not cause significant differences in short crack growth rates and independant of stress level. Evidence to support a mechanism of crack growth consisting of crack tip blunting following by shear bend cracking has been presented, as a result of In Situ SEM examination of crack tips at high resolution. Long and short crack growth occurring at the particle/matrix interface.

, The relationship between physical activity and cognitive performance was studied in the elderly women. Fifty volunteers (60-74 yrs) agreed to participate and were placed in 2 groups; exercise group(n=25; 68.72±4.22 yrs) and Non-exercise group(n=25; 69.52±5.1 yrs). The subjects who joined in the exercise group were asked to participate in exercise program(3 times/week, 80 min/day) for 12 weeks. The subjects n both groups were tested on the cognitive psychomotor performance (finger simple reaction time(SRT) and choice reaction time(CRT), tapping, and eye-hand coordination) at the beginning and the end of the 12-weeks program. For data analysis, mean and standard deviation scores were calculated, and ANOVAs and MANOVAs were used. There was an interaction between Group(2 exercise and non-exercise groups) and Time (pre- and post-tests) on all cognitive psychomotor performance tasks. Especially, each group was significantly interacted with Times on the performance of eye-hand coordination. After the exercise program, the exercise group was significantly better than the inactive group on all dependent variables (SRT and CRT, number of tappings, and performance scores of eye-hand coordination).
치환 Terpyridine 리간드를 가진 옥소루테늄 착물에 의한 알켄산화반응의 반응속도론적 연구

The 4'-substituted terpyridines(Xtpy; Phtpy, EtOtpy, Cltpy, Me_(2)Ntpy) were synthesized. Their spectral properties have been investigated by means of ^(1)H-NMR and mass spectrometer. Also, a series of new aqua- of oxo-ruthenium complexes containing the tridentate meridonal ligand Xtpy ligand substituted in the 4' positions with electron-donating and electron withdrawing groups of general formula [Ru(Y)(Xtpy)(bpy)]^(2+)(X = ph, EtO, Cl, Me_(2)N ; Y = H_(2)O, O) have been prepared and characterized. Their specral properties have been investigated by means of UV-Vis, ^(1)H-NMR and FT-IR spectrometer. The kinetics of styrene oxidation by [RuO(Xtpy)(bpy)]^(2+) complexes were studied spectrophotometrically by monitoring the increasing of the 400-500nm of oxo ruthenium complexes in acetonitrile. The results of the oxidation reaction clearly demonstrate that the rate of oxidation is dependent on the electronic properties of the oxoruthenium complexes. The oxidation reactions were studied at three different temperatures(15, 25, 35℃). The experimental data support the operation of an associative interchange mechanism in which cleavage of the Ru=O bond and formation of an O-styrene bond have equal importance.
효율적인 내용기반 영상검색을 위한 개선된 chain code와 HMM

In this paper, we propose a novel content-based image retrieval system using both Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and an improved chain code. The Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM) is applied to statistically model a color information of the image, and Deterministic Annealing EM(DAEM) algorithm is employed to estimate the parameters of GMM. This result is used to segment the given image. We use an improved chain code, which is invariant to rotation, translation and scale, to extract the feature vectors of the shape for each image in the database. These are stored together in the database with each HMM whose parameters (A, B, π) are estimated by Baum-Welch algorithm. With respect to feature vector obtained in the same way from the query image, a occurring probability of each image is computed by using the forward algorithm of HMM. We use these probabilities for the image retrieval and present the highest similarity images based on these probabilities.
