        Effects of Oxygen Content on the Simultaneous Microbial Removal of SO2 and NOx in Biotrickling Towers

        This study uses microbial methods to research the influence of oxygen (O2) content on the removal efficiency of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) in a tandem twin-towers desulfurization and denitrification process system. Oxygen can play a significant role in biotrickling towers. Other important factors had already been optimized prior to the study, including inlet concentration, gas flow rate, and temperature. SO2 and NOx were prepared by a chemical method. A gas flow meter was used to regulate nitrogen (N2) that had been stored in steel cylinders. In this way, the O2 content was adjusted in the biotrickling towers by controlling the N2 flow rate. Five gradients of O2 content were selected for investigation, namely 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20%. Results indicated that the SO2 removal efficiency from mixed gas (SO2 and NOx) can reach 100%, from all of the five O2 gradients, in biotrickling towers. In a tandem twin-towers desulfurization and denitrification process system, the NOx removal efficiency and the inlet concentration of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) gradually increased as the O2 content increased. Specifically, the average removal efficiency of NOx increased from 49.28 to 80.85% as the O2 content changed from 4 to 20%. The oxygen levels influenced the removal of NOx but the SO2 removal efficiency in mixed gas was always stable.

        Triterpenoids and Diarylheptainoids from Alnus hirsuta Inhibit HIF-1 in AGS Cells

        Bioassay-guided fractionation and purification of the EtOAc soluble fraction from the MeOH extract of the stem bark of Alnus hirsuta (Betulaceae), using an in vitro HIF-1 assay, led to the isolation of four triterpenoids (1-4) and six diarylheptanoids (5-10). Their structures were deter-mined by comparison with the physicochemical and spectroscopic data in the literature. These compounds were investigated for their effects on the hypoxia-induced HlF-1 activation using an HIF-1 a mediated reporter gene assay in AGS cells. Among them, two diarylheptanoids, 2-oxatrycyclo[13.2.2.13,7]eicosa-3,5,7(20),15,17,18-hexaen-10-16-diol (6) and 2-oxatrycyclo[13.2.2.13,7]eicosa-3,5,7-(20),15,17,18-hexaen-10-one (7), inhibited HIF-1 activation dose-dependently with IC$_{50}$ values of 11.2 ${\mu}$M and 12.3 ${\mu}$M, respectively. These two compounds had no significant cytotoxicity to the AGS cells at the effective concentration for the inhibition of HIF-1 activation.

        최근 중국에서 커피문화에 대한 선호도가 높아짐에 따라 커피전문점이 점점 많아지고 있다. 커피전문점은 단지 커피를 마시는 곳이 아니고 지인과의 친목을 도모하는 곳으로 인식하는 문화공간이라고 여겨지고 있기 때문에 고객 서비스의 중요성을 인식한 기업의 입장에서 서비스 품질을 향상시키기 위한 노력을 기울이고 있다. 기업들이 커피의 품질을 향상해야 할 뿐만 아니라, 다양한 메뉴를 준비하고 영업시간을 효과적으로 운영하여야 하는 상황에 놓이고 있다. 점포의 편의시설을 추가하고 쾌적한 분위기를 형상하는 등의 고객만족을 높이고자 하는 투자를 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 소비자들이 커피전문점을 방문할 때 점포환경, 판매원 그리고 제품품질이 고객만족에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 연구하고자 한다. 또한 프랜차이즈와 독립 커피전문점의 평가 속성 중에 어떤 요인이 고객만족에 더 영향을 미치는지를 분석하고자 한다. 또한 커피전문점에 대한 고객만족이 재방문의도에 영향을 미치는지를 분석한다. 분석 결과에 의하면, 커피전문점 판매원의 전문적인 지식 또는 언행이 고객만족에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 차이 분석에서 독립 커피전문점 판매원요인 중에 전문성이 고객만족에 영향이 더 크다고 나타났으며 프랜차이즈 커피전문점 경우, 판매원의 고객지향성이 고객만족에 미치는 영향이 있다고 나타났다. 또한 점포요인에 대해 입지, 분위기, 시설 등 물리적 환경을 잘 갖추는 것은 고객의 만족도에 영향을 미친것으로 나타났다. 고객만족 제고에 있어서 제품품질도 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 커피 맛, 커피 향기 그리고 메뉴다양성이 고객만족에 유의한 영향이 있다고 나타났다. 특히 독립 커피전문점의 커피 맛, 커피 향기가 프랜차이즈 커피전문점보다 고객만족에 더 영향을 미친다고 나타났다. As the number of both well-known established coffee shop brands and independently owned coffee shops has increased in China, both franchise brands and independently owned shops have faced increased competition and fundamental change in the business environment. Such change includes an increased need to brand and market coffee shops, effort to improve competence of a service provider, and recognition of the need to improve in the coffee product quality. The research model in this study includes the hypothetical paths between three store factors: store image, service level of service provider and coffee product quality; customer satisfaction and customer intention to revisit. In addition to the above hypothetical paths, we considered the moderating effect of store types (franchise brands vs independently owned coffee shops). In the survey results collected from 252 of Chinese respondents, all hypotheses are accepted but the significances effect of integrity and favorable impression of service provider on customer satisfaction is not found. The moderating effect of how the menu variance impacts customer satisfaction between franchise brand and independently owned coffee shop was also not identified.

      • Lectin from Agrocybe aegerita as a Glycophenotype Probe for Evaluation of Progression and Survival in Colorectal Cancer

        Background: Agrocybe aegerita Lectin (AAL) has been identified to have high affinity for sulfated and ${\alpha}2$-3-linked sialic acid glycoconjugates, especially the sulfated and sialyl TF (Thomsen-Friedenreich) disaccharide. This study was conducted to investigate the clinicopathological and prognostic value of AAL in identifying aberrant glycosylation in colorectal cancer (CRC). Materials and Methods: Glycoconjugate expression in 59 CRC tissues were detected using AAL-histochemistry. Clinicopathological associates of expression were analyzed with chisquare test or Fisher's exact test. Relationships between expression and the various clinicopathological parameters was estimated using Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression models. Results: AAL specific glycoconjugate expression was significantly higher in tumor than corresponding normal tissues (66.1% and 46.1%, respectively, p=0.037), correlating with depth of invasion (p=0.015) and TNM stage (p=0.024). Patients with lower expression levels had a significantly higher survival rate than those with higher expression (p=0.046 by log rank test and p=0.047 by Breslow test for overall survival; p=0.054 by log rank test and P=0.038 by Breslow test for progress free survival). A marginally significant association was found between AAL specific glycoconjugate expression and overall survival by univariate Cox regression analysis (p=0.059). Conclusions: Lower AAL specific glycoconjugate expression is a significant favorable prognostic factor for overall and progress free survival in CRC. This is the first report about the employment of AAL for histochemical analysis of cancer tissues. The binding characteristics of AAL means it has potential to become a powerful tool for the glycan investigation and clinical application.

        Treatment of bladder cancer by geoinspired synthetic chrysotile nanocarrier-delivered circPRMT5 siRNA

        Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have important functions in many fields of cancer biology. In particular, we previously reported that the oncogenic circRNA, circPRMT5, has a major role in bladder cancer progression. Therapy based on circRNAs have good prospects as anticancer strategies. While anti-circRNAs are emerging as therapeutics, the specific in vivo delivery of anti-circRNAs into cancer cells has not been reported and remains challenging. Methods: Synthesized chrysotile nanotubes (SCNTs) with a relatively uniform length (~ 200 nm) have been designed to deliver an siRNA against the oncogenic circPRMT5 (si-circPRMT5) inhibit circPRMT5. In addition, the antitumor effects and safety evaluation of SCNTs/si-circPRMT5 was assessed with a series of in vitro and in vivo assays. Results: The results showed that SCNTs/si-circPRMT5 nanomaterials prolong si-circPRMT5’s half-life in circulation, enhance its specific uptake by tumor cells, and maximize the silencing efficiency of circPRMT5. In vitro, SCNTs encapsulating si-circPRMT5 could inhibit bladder cancer cell growth and progression. In vivo, SCNTs/si-circPRMT5 inhibited growth and metastasis in three bladder tumor models (a subcutaneous model, a tail vein injection lung metastatic model, and an in situ model) without obvious toxicities. Mechanistic study showed that SCNTs/sicircPRMT5 regulated the miR-30c/SNAIL1/E-adherin axis, inhibiting bladder cancer growth and progression. Conclusion: The results highlight the potential therapeutic utility of SCNTs/si-circPRMT5 to deliver si-circPRMT5 to treat bladder cancer.

        Reference gene selection for transcriptional profiling by RT-qPCR in the 28-spotted larger potato ladybird

        Henosepilachna vigintioctomaculata is one of the most serious defoliates attacking potatoes. However, studies on functional genes have greatly been limited due to the insufficiency of effective and stable endogenous references to normalize RT-qPCR data. In this report, nine housekeeping genes (RPL4, RPL6, RPL13, RPL32, RPS18, ACT, EF1α, GAPDH and α-TUB) involved in different biological processes were selected. Their expression levels under diverse experimental conditions including developmental stages, tissues, temperatures and host plants were determined using RT-qPCR technology. The tested candidate genes were comprehensively ranked based on five alternative stability analysis methods (Ct value, geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper and ReFinder). The results revealed that the optimal internal reference genes varied under different experimental conditions. Any gene pair among the five candidates (RPL4, RPL13, RPL32, RPS18 and EF1α) was a suitable reference gene set under different temperatures and on different host plants. A combination of RPL6 and RPL13 was recommended as the best reference gene set across different developmental stages. A pair of RPS18 and EF1α was ranked as the optimal reference gene combination within different tissues. The most suitable reference genes were RPS18 and RPL13 under four different experimental conditions. Our findings not only establish an accurate and reliable normalization of RT-qPCR data, but also lay a solid foundation for further functional gene researches in H. vigintioctomaculata

      • Thin TiOxlayer as a voltage divider layer located at the quasi-Ohmic junction in the Pt/Ta2O5/Ta resistance switching memory

        <P>Ta2O5 has been an appealing contender for the resistance switching random access memory (ReRAM). The resistance switching (RS) in this material is induced by the repeated formation and rupture of the conducting filaments (CFs) in the oxide layer, which are accompanied by the almost inevitable randomness of the switching parameters. In this work, a 1 to 2 nm-thick Ti layer was deposited on the 10 nm-thick Ta2O5 RS layer, which greatly improved the RS performances, including the much-improved switching uniformity. The Ti metal layer was naturally oxidized to TiOx (x < 2) and played the role of a series resistor, whose resistance value was comparable to the on-state resistance of the Ta2O5 RS layer. The series resistor TiOx efficiently suppressed the adverse effects of the voltage (or current) overshooting at the moment of switching by the appropriate voltage partake effect, which increased the controllability of the CF formation and rupture. The switching cycle endurance was increased by two orders of magnitude even during the severe current-voltage sweep tests compared with the samples without the thin TiOx layer. The Ti deposition did not induce any significant overhead to the fabrication process, making the process highly promising for the mass production of a reliable ReRAM.</P>

        Identification and Characterization of an Anaerobic Ethanol-Producing Cellulolytic Bacterial Consortium from Great Basin Hot Springs with Agricultural Residues and Energy Crops

        In order to obtain the cellulolytic bacterial consortia, sediments from Great Basin hot springs (Nevada, USA) were sampled and enriched with cellulosic biomass as the sole carbon source. The bacterial composition of the resulting anaerobic ethanol-producing celluloytic bacterial consortium, named SV79, was analyzed. With methods of the full-length 16S rRNA librarybased analysis and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis, 21 bacteria belonging to eight genera were detected from this consortium. Clones with closest relation to the genera Acetivibrio, Clostridium, Cellulosilyticum, Ruminococcus, and Sporomusa were predominant. The cellulase activities and ethanol productions of consortium SV79 using different agricultural residues (sugarcane bagasse and spent mushroom substrate) and energy crops (Spartina anglica, Miscanthus floridulus, and Pennisetum sinese Roxb) were studied. During cultivation, consortium SV79 produced the maximum filter paper activity (FPase, 9.41 U/ml), carboxymethylcellulase activity (CMCase, 6.35 U/ml), and xylanase activity (4.28 U/ml) with sugarcane bagasse, spent mushroom substrate, and S. anglica, respectively. The ethanol production using M. floridulus as substrate was up to 2.63 mM ethanol/g using gas chromatography analysis. It has high potential to be a new candidate for producing ethanol with cellulosic biomass under anoxic conditions in natural environments.

        中国企业高参与人力资源管理对于组织成员态度的影响

        본 연구는 중국 근로자들을 대상으로 고몰입 인적자원관리가 조직에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 동시에 고몰입 인적자원관리를 구성하는 내용 중에서 특히 중국 종업원들의 직무나 조직 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있는 차원을 추출하여 이를 제고 할 수 있는 방안을 인적자원관리의 전략으로 제시하고자 하였다 본 실증연구를 통해 얻은 연구결과는 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 고몰입 인적자원관리는 근로자의 정서적 몰입에 긍정적으로 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 역량개발, 임파워먼트, 정보공유 등의 순서로 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 둘째, 고몰입 인적자원관리는 근로자의 조직시민행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 근로자의 정서적 몰입은 조직시민행동에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 넷째, 고몰입 인적자원관리가 조직시민행동에 미치는 관계에서 정서적 몰입은 매개역할을 하는 것이 확인되었다. 이러한 연구결과들은 근로자들의 조직에 대한 애착과 자발적인 참여가 좀 더 중요해지고 있는 중국의 기업들뿐만 아니라 중국에 진출하고 있는 한국기업들의 인적자원관리에도 많은 시사점을 준다. 구체적으로는 첫째, 기업들은 장기적인 시야에서 근로자들의 역량개발에 힘쓸 필요가 있다. 기업내 교육훈련 뿐만 아니라 외부교육기관과의 연대에 의한 교육훈련에 주력해야 한다. 둘째, 기업 내 임파워먼트의 문화육성에도 힘써야 한다. 과감한 권한위양을 가능하게 하는 조직문화의 혁신이 필요하며 일선관리자 및 중간관리자에 대한 임파워먼트에 대한 정신교육이 필요하다. 셋째, 정보공유를 위한 방안도 강화할 필요가 있다. 사내게시판, 사보 및 회사 홈페이지를 통한 정보의 공유와 함께 정기적인 회사경영전반에 대한 설명회 등도 적극적으로 개최하여 근로자들의 회사에 대한 애정과 귀속심을 함양할 필요가 있다. The study aims at investigating the effects of high-involvement human resource management on the affective commitment and organizational citizenship behaviors(OCBs) of employees in Chinese companies. The mediating role of affective commitment in the relationship between high-involvement human resource management and OCBs is also investigated in the study. The research results revealed that firstly, high-involvement human resource management affected positively on affective commitment, secondly, affective commitment affected positively on OCBs and thirdly high-involvement human resource management affected positively on OCBs. Especially, among the components of high-involvement human resource management, some dimensions like competence development, empowerment, information sharing had relatively strong effects on OCBs of employees. The mediating role of affective commitment was found in the relationship between high-involvement human resource management and OCBs. Finally, some practical implications was suggested based on the research results. Competence development strategies as in house training and outside training and various practices to facilitate empowerment and information training in the company were recommended.
