Biological activities and anticarcinogenicity of Korean Pear peel were investigated. Electron donating activity and superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like activity of fraction Ⅱ, Ⅲ were up to 90% and 50-60% at 50ppm, respectively. Inhibitory effects on xanthine oxidase were about 80% at 50ppm, breast adenocarcinoma was about 60% at 2,000 ppm, higher Ⅲ than Ⅱ. Inhibitory effect on prostate adenocarcinoma was about 23% at 500 ppm. In conclusion, Korean Pear peel was expected to use as a functional material.

Biological activities and application of sanguisorbae officinalis L. were investigated. In the enzymological physiological activities, the electron donating ability(EDA) was 54.92% in 10 ppm and it was over 90% over 50ppm and SOD-like activity was high as 65.36% in 1000 ppm, it was gradual increased. As inhibitory effect of xanthine oxidase, it was 17.90% in 200 ppm and a little low as 36.89% in 500 ppm and inhibitory effect of tyrosinase, it was a little low as 20.45% below 1000 ppm. As the result of measuring the lipid oxidation, all the concentrations of medical ion treatments had the ability to keep it from acidification and metal ion blocking effects about the lipid oxidation promoting factors(Fe^(2+) and Cu^(2+)), Fe^(2+) was better than Cu^(2+) and all concentrations of medical ion treatments was 40% in 50ppm. When it was applied into normal skin-softener it showed safe effect so that we can expect that as the natural material of cosmetics.

To see both Shunqidaotantang(dissipate phlegm and promote vital energy circulation) and Huayutang(blood circulation and disperse blood stasis) influencing on thrombosis, contusion-hyperemia, and hyperlipidemia, at first we measured the density of FDP, the quantity of fibrino-gen, prothrombin time, and the number of platelet of rat taken thrombosis by endotoxin. Secondly we measured the increase-rate of "paw swelling", the number of platelet, the quantity of fibrino-gen, and pothrombin time of rat taken contusion-hypermia. And then we measured the quantity of total cholesterol in serum and of H.D.L-cholesterol and of triglyceride and of phospholipid and of β-lipoprotein, its weight, and the variation of the quantity of electrolyte of rat taken hyperlipidemia by the oral-injection of cholesterol. As a result, we can conclude as follows: 1. Out of the test of thrombosis, we can recognize not only the noticeable increae of the number of platelet and the quantity of fibrinogen, but also the noticeable decrease of prothrombin time and the density FDP in case of Shunqid?otant?ng-injected rat and Huay?t?ng-injected rat. 2. Out of the test of contusion-hypermia, we can recognize not only the noticeable increase of the number of platelet and the quantity of fibrinogen, but also the noticeable decrease of prothrombin time and "increase-rate of paw swelling" in case of Shunqid?otant?ng-injected rat and Huay?t?ng-injected rat. 3. Out of the test of hyperlipidemia, at first we can recognize that test rat's weight increased as close as that of normal rat. And we can recognize the noticeable decrease of the triglyceride and phospholipid and β-lipoprotein. " Also, in case of the variation of electrolyte we can recognize the decrease of calcium and potassium in Shunqidaotantang-injected rat, and of sodium and magnesium in Huayutang-injected rat. Thus, as the above-mentioned, in covering thrombosis, contusion-hypermia, and hyperlipidemia, the effect of Shunqiduotantang and Huay?t?ng can be recognized. Granting that Huayutang reveals its effectiveness in thrombosis and contusion-hyperemia, and Shunqid?otant?ng in hyperlipidemia, it can be inferred that contusion-hyperemia is like "model of blood stasis form" as thrombosis and hyperlipidemia "phlegm-retention diseases form ", and both phlegm-retention and blood stasis have correlation each other.

Objectives : Cosmeceutical activities such as anti-oxidative and anti-aging effects of the Doinseunguitang and its composition, a traditional prescription, were evaluated. Methods : We performed MTT assay, melanin synthesis inhibition assay, DPPH free radical scavenging assay, SOD-like activity, xanthine oxidase inhibition assay, astringent activity assay, tyrosinase inhibition assay, elastase and collagenase inhibition assay. Results : The results were obtained as follows : DPPH free radical scavenging of water extract Doinseunguitang (DISG) and ethanol extract DISG was 60% and 50% at 1,000 ppm. Xanthine oxidase inhibition effect of ethanol extract showed more than 80% at 500 ppm. Tyrosinase inhibition and inhibition melanin synthesis activities were measured in 40% and 50% at 1,000 ppm and 100 ppm. Elastase and collagenase inhibition rate of ethanol extracts DISG 40% and 80% at 1,000 ppm. It was concluded that compositive ingredients (Persicae Seman, Glycyrrhizae Radix, Cinnamomi Ramulus, Rhei Rhizoma) influenced the most results. Conclusions : The results indicated that, ethanol extract which is superior in its anti-oxidative and anti-aging effects is useful to be applied in herbal cosmetic industry.
