Maximum likelihood UEP video streaming technique for WirelessMAN-Advancedsystems
Jeongsik Yun,Youngok Kim,Jaekwon Kim IEEE 2013 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CONSUMER ELECTRONICS - Vol.59 No.1
<P>In this paper, a maximum likelihood (ML) unequal error protection (UEP) video streaming technique is proposed for WirelessMAN-Advanced systems that are equipped with multiple antennas. The assumed video compression method is H.264/AVC which is a commercially successful technique. ML signal detection is optimal in terms of packet error performance for multiple antenna systems. However, common wisdom is that the optimal ML detection cannot be used for an implementation of UEP which is important for video streaming. In this paper, it is shown that UEP can be implemented using the optimal ML detection. With the aid of computer simulations, the proposed ML-UEP technique is shown to improve video quality significantly compared to a recently proposed UEP technique that is based on the suboptimal signal detection QR-LRL. The PSNR improvement by the proposed method comes at the cost of increased computational complexity in the physical layer 1.</P>
Video streaming exploiting multiple-antenna techniques of wirelessMAN-advanced systems
Jeongsik Yun,Sanghyun Bak,Nulibyul Kim,Kwanghoon Choi,Jaekwon Kim IEEE 2012 IEEE transactions on consumer electronics Vol.58 No.3
<P>In this paper, a novel video streaming technique is proposed for the recently standardized IEEE802.16m system also known as the Wireless MAN-Advanced or WIMAX2 system. The antenna mode considered is single user spatially multiplexed (SUSM) transmission suitable for video streaming. In previous works, the linear signal detection method was used in order to achieve unequal error protection (UEP). In this paper, it is shown that a joint signal detection method can also be used to achieve UEP. Computer simulations demonstrate improved performance using the proposed method. In the simulations, H.264/AVC compressed video is used, and the PHY layer procedures such as resource unit allocation, convolutional turbo code (CTC), pilot tone insertion, and pre-coding are implemented in strict accordance with the IEEE 802.16m standard.</P>

There is a growing appreciation, amongst academics as well as policy makers, of the critical role small- and medium-sized enterprises play in the economy. But, it is reported that there is a positive relationship between firm size and the frequency of assessing certain information sources such as sector legislation, annual reports, and external consulting. The difference of information acquisition capability between SMEs and large firms is partially attributable to SMEs’ limited resources such as financial constraints, and lack of employees available for gathering information and analyzing them. To break the vicious circle, policymakers for SMEs are encouraged to develop appropriate schemes to enable SMEs to use external consulting or make useful information for SMEs more available in the public domain.
Isomerization of Higher Alkane Over Platinum Supported on Nanoporous Materials.
Yun, Soyoung,Seong, Minjun,Park, Young-Kwon,Jeong, Soon-Yong,Han, Jeongsik,Jeon, Jong-Ki American Scientific Publishers 2015 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.15 No.1
<P>The objective of this study is to evaluate the catalytic potential of Pt/MMZ-FER catalysts in hydroisomerization of long chain hydrocarbon. MMZ-FER, a nanoporous material produced from commercial ferrierite, was used as a support for the catalysts. The catalysts were characterized via X-ray powder diffraction, N2 adsorption, pyridine-IR, and the temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia. Hydroisomerization of n-dodecane was performed on Pt/MMZ-FER catalysts. Hydroisomerization requires platinum loading on MMZ-FER, even though the amount of platinum loaded (up to 1.2 wt%) did not greatly affect the process of hydroisomerization. Weak acid sites developed on the Pt/MMZ-FER samples induced less cracking of n-dodecane, resulting in an increase in selectivity for isomerization.</P>
