As many researchers have been interested in the repair and reinforcement of structure, recently, the importances of those are increasing. In this papers, it was inspected to applicate repair and reinforcement by strand and polymer mortar to the construction field among many method. A static loading test and a dynamic loading test was tested in the field. In result, deflection of reinforced structure decreased between 14 and 30 % and load carrying capacity increased 22%.
Theoretical Study of Various Unit Models for Biomedical Application
( Jeongho Choi ) 한국산업융합학회 2019 한국산업융합학회 논문집 Vol.22 No.4
This paper presents an analytical study on the strength and stiffness of various types of truss structures. The applied models are triangular-like opened truss-wall triangular model (OTT), closed truss-wall triangular model (CTT), opened solid-wall triangular model (OST), and hypercube models defined as core-filled or core-spaced cube. The models are analyzed by numerical model analysis using DEFORM 2D/3D tool with AISI 304 stainless steel. Then, the ideal solutions for stiffness and strength are defined. Finally, the relative elastic modulus of the core-spaced model is obtained as 0.0009, which is correlated with the cancellous bone for the relative density range of 0.029- 0.03, and the relative elastic modulus for the core-filled model is obtained as 0.0015, which is correlated with cancellous bone for the relative density range of 0.035-0.036. For the relative compressive yield strength, the OTT reasonably agrees with the cancellous bone for the relative density of 0.042 and the relative compressive strength of 0.05. The CTT and OST are in good agreement at the relative density of 0.013 and the relative compressive yield strength of 0.002. The hypercube models can be used for the cancellous bone for stiffness, and the triangular models can be used for the cancellous bone for strength. However, none of the models can be used to replace the compact bone because it requires much higher stiffness and strength. In the near future, compact bone replacement must be further studied. In addition, previously mentioned models should be developed further.

In spite of long history of special education in Korea, science has been an overlooked subject within a special education context. It was also reported to be one of the disliked subjects for special educators. Since there is not enough teaching material for SEN students, they cannot experience really joy of doing science. Informal science education which is held out of schools can be a good alternative to support special education school curriculum. Daegu University, which was founded by a pastor who loved the blind in 1956 and has leaded special education and rehabilitation science in Korea, has opened the Hope Science Fair as an informal science education for SEN students since 2006. The first fair was for the visually impaired students, and then this science fair has been continued for last twelve years covering various disabilities areas. The Hope Science Fair consists of science magic show, science drama and hands-on activities, which were carefully designed and developed considering students disabilities, and mental and emotional status. In order to have a successful fair, a group of professors and students visited special education schools for various disability areas, studied disabilities, and developed teaching materials for SEN students. It has always been challenging for them to develop suitable materials for SEN students, their struggle for the fair has been continued up to now. In this presentation, we would like to share our twelve years journey of informal science education for SEN students focusing on the Hope Science Fair.
Analysis of the Optimal Frequency Band for a Ballistic Missile Defense Radar System
Jeongho Park,Dong-Hui Lee,Chulhun Seo,Byoungho Cho,Dang-An Nguyen 한국전자파학회JEES 2018 Journal of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science Vol.18 No.4
In this paper, we consider the anti-attack procedure of a ballistic missile defense system (BMDS) at different operating frequencies at its phased-array radar station. The interception performance is measured in terms of lateral divert (LD), which denotes the minimum acceleration amount available in an interceptor to compensate for prediction error for a successful intercept. Dependence of the frequency on estimation accuracy that leads directly to prediction error is taken into account, in terms of angular measurement noises. The estimation extraction is performed by means of an extended Kalman filter (EKF), considering two typical re-entry trajectories of a non-maneuvering ballistic missile (BM). The simulation results show better performance at higher frequency for both tracking and intercepting aspects.
