      • 감귤의 樹體生長 및 開花結實에 미치는 B-995(n-Dimethyl Amino Succinamic Acid)의 效果

        B-995 solutions, in concentrations of from 500 to 3,000㎎/ℓ in Aug. and Sept., and from 500 to 5,000㎎/ℓ in Oct. and Nov., were sprayed on four-year old Hayashiunshiu(a cultivar. of Satsuma mandarin) trees on trifoliate orange stocks. Neither the shoot length nor the internode length of summer-and autumn-cycle shoot was affected by B-995 treatments in Aug. and Sept. The number of flowers born on a tree in the following spring was not significantly influenced by and of the above treatments. Even when nine-year old bearing trees were sprayed with B-995 solutions in conc. of 0-3,000㎎/ℓ from Aug. to Oct., no significant changes were observed in the volume increasement, coloring, and juice Brix and acid content of their fruits. It was showed that Satsuma mandarin trees were very insensitive to the sprays of B-995, and it was concluded that B-995 could not be utilized for the purpose of regulating the tree growth, flowering, and fruit development of Satsuma mandarin.

      • 다중 제어루프에 의한 자기부상용 DC-DC 전원장치에 관한 연구

        The author present a modified multi-loop algorithm including feedforward for controlling a 55kW step down chopper in the power supply of Maglev. The control law for the duty cycle consists of three terms. The first is the feedforward term which compensates for variations in the input voltage. The second term consists of the difference between the slowly moving inductor current and output current. The third term consists of proportional and integral terms involving the perturbation in the output voltage. This perturvation is derived by subtracting the desired output voltage from the actual output voltage. The proportional and integral action stabilizes the system and minimizes output voltage error. In order to verify the validity of the proposed multi-loop controller, simulation study was tried using Matlab simulink.

        For my thesis I have analyzed the differences between the traffic noise level surrounding the schools and the perceived level of noise. I have used the ways of measurement and questionnaires to support my study. According to the analysis, the measured noise level was higher than the expected noise level. The equivalent noise level was proven to be higher when the windows of the classrooms were open. The noise level was also higher on the third floor than the first floor. The correlation between the measured noise level and the perceived level of noise was tested in each school. The school which had a higher expected noise level showed a high perceived level of noise. The measured noise level and the perceived level of noise became larger on the higher floors. Through the questionnaires, the traffic noises were proven to be the largest noise-making source surrounding the schools. Most of the students replied on the questionnaires that they have been consistently bothered by the noise. It interfered with their studies and concentration. Also, the sound of their voices became louder because of the noise around their schools. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that the traffic noises that surround the schools give the students negative influences.

        Since the residential load is an AC load and the output of solar cell is a DC power, the photovoltaic system needs the DC/AC converter to utilize solar cell. In case of driving to interact with utility line, in order to operate at unity power factor, converter must provide the sinusoidal wave current and voltage with same phase of utility line. Since output of solar cell is greatly fluctuated by insolation, it is necessary that the operation of solar cell output in the range of the vicinity of maximum power point. In this paper, DC/AC converter is three phase PWM converter with smoothing reactor. And then, feedforward control used to obtain a superior characteristic for current control and digital PLL circuit used to detect the phase of utility line.

        In this paper, supposed to solve these problem to PID parameters controller algorithm using ANN. In the proposed algorithm, the parameters of the controller were adjusted to reduce by on-line system the error of the speed of IM. In this process, EBPA NN was constituted to an output error value of an IM and conspired an input and output. The performance of the self-tuning controller is compared with that of the PH) controller tuned by conventional method (Ziehler-Nichols). The effectiveness of the proposed control method is verified thought the Matlab Simulink and experimental results.

Neurochem.</I> (2012) <B>123</B>, 226–238.</P><P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Fragile X syndrome (FXS), the most common single genetic cause of mental retardation and autistic spectrum disease, occurs when <I>FMR1</I> gene is mutated. <I>FMR1</I> encodes fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP) which regulates translation of mRNAs playing important roles in the development of neurons as well as formation and maintenance of synapses. To examine whether FMRP regulates cell viability, we induced apoptosis in rat primary cortical neurons with glutamate <I>in vitro</I> and with middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in striatal neurons <I>in vivo</I>. Both conditions elicited a rapid, but transient FMRP expression in neurons. This up‐regulated FMRP expression was abolished by pre‐treatment with PI3K and Protein Kinase B (Akt) inhibitors: LY294002, Akt inhibitor IV, and VIII. Reduced FMRP expression <I>in vitro</I> or <I>in vivo</I> using small hairpin <I>Fmr1</I> virus exacerbated cell death by glutamate or MCAO, presumably <I>via</I> hypophosphorylation of Akt and reduced expression of B‐cell lymphoma‐extra large (Bcl‐xL). However, over‐expression of FMRP using enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP)‐FMRP constructs alleviated cell death, increased Akt activity, and enhanced Bcl‐xL production. The pro‐survival role of Akt‐dependent up‐regulation of FMRP in glutamate‐stimulated cultured neuron as well as in ischemic brain may have a clinical importance in FXS as well as in neurodegenerative disorders and traumatic brain injury.</P>

      • Effective Falls Detection Method Using Two Tri-Axial Accelerometers

        <P>Falls detection systems have been developed in recent years because falls are detrimental events that can have a devastating effect on health of the elderly population. Current fall detecting methods mainly employ accelerometer to discriminate falls from activities of daily living (ADL). However, this makes it difficult to distinguish real falls from certain fall-like activities such as jogging and jumping. In this paper, an accurate fall detection system was implemented using two tri-axial accelerometers. By attaching the accelerometers on the chest and the abdomen, our system can effectively differentiate between falls and non-fall events.The Diff_Z and Sum_diff_Z parameter resulted in falls detection rate of 100%, respectively.</P>

        Response of appetite-related genes in relation to the rearing water temperature in red spotted grouper (Epinephelus akaara)

        Growth of fish is controlled by various environmental factors, including water temperature (WT). WT is also a major factor that affects the eating behavior of fish. In this study, we studied the relationship between WT and expression profiles of factors involved in appetite regulation and digestion in red spotted grouper. Fish were divided into three groups with 30 fish per group and reared for 2 weeks in a recirculating system at three different WT (natural WT, 20 ℃, and 25 ℃). After 2 weeks, they were sacrificed immediately after food intake (+ 0 h), 3 h after (+ 3 h), 6 h after (+ 6 h), and 3 h before being fed the next day (- 3 h). Fish samples were obtained for analysis of mRNA expression levels of cholecystokinin (CCK), leptin A (LepA), leptin B (LepB), and neuropeptide Y (NPY) in the brain, liver, and intestine. Expression of CCK and NPY mRNA was significantly higher at 25 ℃ compared to that at natural WT and 20 ℃, but no difference was observed for leptin. This suggests that the red spotted grouper shows characteristics typical of subtropical fish and has higher levels of feeding and digestion when reared at 25 ℃ water temperature condition.

      • Level Conversion Scheme for Improving Performance of RAID 5 on Single Disk Failure

        주문형 멀티미디어 시스템 등 사용자 요구에 실시간 응답을 하여야하는 저장시스템 구조에 있어, 단일 디스크 고장시 즉각적인 데이타 복구는 상당히 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 RAID5구조에 있어 단일디스크 고장시 새로운 디스크가 교체되기 전까지 유발되는 급격한 성능저하를 RAID 레벨 전환 기법을 이용하여 개선하고자 한다. 이 기법은 기존의 연구에서 제시된 예비 디스크 기법에 비해 추가의 디스크를 필요로 하지 않는 저가형 시스템에 적합하다. 제안된 기법과 기존의 RAID5구조는 시뮬레이션을 통하여 여러 모드에서 성능이 측정되었다. 측정 결과 제안된 기법은 실패모드에서는 20%, 재구성모드에서는 80%이상의 성능 개선을 보인다. It is very important to recover data immediately at a single disk failure for critical applications such as multimedia storage systems. real-time systems and so on. As an efficient solution, this paper proposes that RAID level conversion scheme to improve the performance before a failed disk is replaced with a new disk. By using this scheme, it does not require an additional disk to recover data. Comparing with previous studies, this scheme is appropriate to low cost system that has not additional redundant device. The performance of proposed scheme is evaluated and analyzed with that of RAID level 5 for various requested sizes through the simulation. The results show that the performance of the proposed scheme is improved up to 20 percents compared with that of RAID level 5 at the failure mode and 80 percents at reconfigured mode.

      • Glucosamine-Induced Reduction of Integrin β4 and Plectin Complex Stimulates Migration and Proliferation in Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells

        <P>We investigated the role of glucosamine (GlcN) on the integrin β4/plectin complex and its role in the regulation of mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC) migration and proliferation. GlcN significantly decreased integrin β4 mRNA/protein expression, whereas plectin protein expression did not change. Also, decrease of integrin β4 expression caused reduction of integrin β4/plectin complex formation, and then increased cell migration. GlcN increased intracellular calcium influx and protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation followed by integrin β4 serine phosphorylation and reduction of the integrin β4/plectin complex. GlcN entered into the cell through glucose transporter 1 and then increased O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) and the level of glycosylation (CTD110.6). Inhibition of OGT (OGT inhibitor; ST045849) increased integrin β4/plectin complex opposite with decreased cell migration. Moreover, GlcN increased O-GlcNAc-specificity protein 1 (Sp1) and nuclear translocated p-Sp1 stimulated calmodulin (CaM) expression, which combined with plectin. In addition, GlcN increased Akt glycosylation and glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β) phosphorylation, and then Snail1 glycosylation. Snail small interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA) reversed the reduction of integrin β4/plectin complex and dissociation of cell junctions (tight and adherent junction). GlcN increased cell migration, cell cycle regulatory proteins [cyclinD1, cyclin-dependent kinase 4 (CDK4), cyclinE, and CDK2], and the percentage of S phase cells, which were inhibited by a PKC inhibitor, CaM siRNA, or Snail1 siRNA. Additionally, GlcN maintained the undifferentiation status of ESCs. In conclusion, GlcN contributed to migration and proliferation of mESCs through integrin β4/plectin complex reduction via Ca2?/PKC, as well as the Sp1/CaM and Akt/GSK-3β/Snail1 signaling pathway.</P>
