The Tragedy of Pudd’nhead Wilson에서 정체성의 문제

This novel is the story of a young man’s mistaken identity. He thinks he is white, but is in reality colored, and he is heir to wealth without knowing his claim is false. He lives as a free man, but is legally a slave. When he learns ― a true fact about himself, he comes to ruin not through the knowledge of his physical status, but through the weakness belonging to both races. The psychological twins in this novel are switched identities, mistaken identities, and foils. Thomas a Becket Driscoll and Chambre de Valet are switched identities, and so they are naturally mistaken ones at the same time. David Wilson and Roxy are mistaken identities and they also become foils to each other. In fact, the false Tom is a foil to David Wilson, not to Chambers. Like this, the major characters of the novel are interrelated with each other. The fictional and conventional injurious effects of the slavery which represented largely centering around the life and consciousness of Roxy, Tom and Chambers falls to the white masters as well as the negro slaves. The slaves lead a forced and implanted lives instead of their own, which results in the loss of their self-interest and even self-identity amid the mire of fictious institutional fetters. The Psychological twins’ effort of trying to discover their true identities all come to end in a nightmare. Such result is specially notable in Mark Twain’s later novels through his deepening pessimism in his later years. His conclusion may be that man’s true identity cannot be found and held up in the social situation of “damned human race” in which there prevail the acquisitiveness of the Gilded Age, race prejudice, hypocritical view of religion, man’s cruelty with each other, neo-aristocracy, and miscegenation.
국내외 교육과정에 반영된 초등학교 음악, 미술, 체육의 심미적 감성역량

본 연구는 2015 개정 교육과정 핵심역량 중 심미적 감성역량의 특성과 하위요소를 국내외 문헌을 중심으로 탐색하고, 이를 기초로 초등학교 음악, 미술, 체육 교육과정에 투영된 심미적 감성역량 하위요소 내용을 고찰한 연구이다. 선행연구를 바탕으로 규정된 역량의 특성 세 가지, 즉 총체성, 수행성, 맥락성을 바탕으로 하여 초등학교 3~4학년군의 예술 및 체육교과가 서로 연계할 수 있는 심미적 감성 역량의 하위 역량과 내용요소를 도출하였다. 그 결과 음악 교과의 총체성 하위 요소로는 다원적 가치존중, 다양한 문화 수용, 음악적 상상력이, 수행성의 하위 요소로는 음악적 표현, 문해력, 음악 미적 지각, 창의융합 능력이, 맥락성의 하위 요소로는 음악 문화 참여, 풍요로운 삶 유지 등이 추출되었다. 미술 교과의 총체성 하위 요소로는 다원적 가치 존중, 다문화 수용성, 세계시민 의식, 시각적 소통능력, 공감이, 수행성의 하위 요소로는 미적 지각, 시각화 능력, 시각적 문해력, 창의 융합 능력, 비판적 미적판단이, 맥락성의 하위 요소로는 자기이해, 자기계발, 공동체 의식, 실천적 지식 개발이 추출되었다. 체육 교과의 총체성 하위 요소로는 다문화 수용성, 신체적·감성적 소통과 공감, 다원적 가치 존중이, 수행성의 하위 요소로는 신체 예술의 가치 이해, 신체활동 문화 향유, 신체표현 창의융합능력이, 맥락성의 하위 요소로는 미적 안목, 정체성과 자부심 강화, 행복한 삶의 향유의 내용이 추출되었다. 본 연구에서 탐구한 음악, 미술, 체육교과에 관한 심미적 감성역량 연구는 향후 예술, 체육교과 연계 프로그램을 계획, 운영하는 데 있어서 이론적 기반으로 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 이 틀을 기반으로 한 또 다른 핵심역량과 교과들 간의 연계 프로그램이 가능하다는 측면에서 의미가 있다. 이러한 역량 중심의 교과 연계 프로그램의 개발은 국가 교육과정을 준수하는 가운데 교육의 다양성과 자율성을 강화라는 측면에서 좋은 기회가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. This study explored the characteristics and sub-elements of aesthetic sensitivity competency of the key competencies in the 2015 Revised National Curriculum. There are three characteristics of competencies defined based on previous studies: totality, performance, and contextuality. These characteristics were the basis for deriving the sub-competences and content elements of the aesthetic sensitivity competency necessary for the art and physical education subjects of the 3rd and 4th grade elementary school to connect with each other. As the sub-elements of totality in the Music subject, respect of pluralistic values, acceptance of various cultures, and musical imagination were extracted; as the sub-elements of performance, musical expression, literacy, musical aesthetic awareness, and creative convergence ability; and as the sub-elements of contextuality, participation in musical culture and maintenance of an affluent life. As the totality in the Art subject, respect of pluralistic values, multicultural acceptance, global citizenship awareness, visual communication ability, and sympathy were extracted; as the performance, aesthetic awareness, visualization ability, visual literacy, creative convergence ability, and critical aesthetic judgment; and as the contextuality, self-understanding, self-development, community consciousness, and practical knowledge development. As the totality in the Physical Education subject, multicultural acceptance, physical and emotional communication and empathy, and respect of pluralistic values were extracted; as the performance, understanding the value of body Art, enjoyment of physical activity culture, and creative convergence ability for body expression; and as the contextuality, aesthetic perspective, strengthening of identity and pride, and enjoyment of happy life.
ON SUBMANIFOLDS OF ALMOST PSEUDO SYMMETRIC MANIFOLDS

ON A TOTALLY UMBILIC HYPERSURFACE OF FIRST ORDER

In this paper, we define a totally umbilic hypersurface of first order and show that a totally umbilic hypersurface of first order in an Einstein manifold has a parallel second fundamental form. Furthermore we prove that a complete, simply connected and totally umbilic hypersurface of first order in a space of constant curvature is a Riemannian product of Einstein manifolds. Finally we show a proper example which is a totally umbilic hypersurface of first order but not a totally umbilic hypersurface.

The spoken dialogue is one of the most convenient interfaces between human and computer. A spoken dialogue is compared with several utterances which are articulated each other and those utterances reflect speaker's intention to accomplish some purposes. We can organize a plan using speech act and words, and decide utterances with the plan. This paper proposes a novel method for separating the domain of each word and deciding correctly the semantics intended from utterances of users using a plan-based dialogue model when the spoken dialogue processing. The experimental results showed that the search ratios of the proposed system were improved with above 5% in comparison with them of the previous simple pattern matching method.
