RFID는 RF신호를 이용하여 물체에 부착된 태그(tag)를 읽어 물체를 식별하는 비 접촉 인식 기술이다. RFID 리더의 식별영역에 여러 개의 태그가 있는 경우 이들 사이의 충돌(collision) 이 발생되기 때문에 이들을 식별할 수 있는 메커니즘이 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 기존에 제안된 트리 기반 메모래스 충돌방지 알고리즘들을 살펴보고, 본 논문에서 제안하는 향상된 쿼리 기반 충돌 알고리즘(AQT : Advanced Query Tree based Collision Algorithm)을 소개한다.

현재 다양하고 전문적인 웹 서비스 들이 사용자를 위해 제공되고 있다. 이러한 서비스는 사용자의 인증을 거친 뒤 확인된 사용자에 한해 서비스를 제공하는 것이 보통이다. 이 서비스들은 각각의 서비스 별로 인증 시스템을 가지고 있기 때문에 사용자들은 매번 회원가입과을 해야하는 등 많은 불편함을 겪고 있다. 본 논문에서는 OpenID 프로토콜과 OAuth 프로토콜을 기반으로 다양한 인증 방식들을 래핑해 사용자가 기존에 보유하고 있는 ID를 이용해 인증할 수 있도록 통합된 인터페이스를 제공하는 인증 솔루션인 Mashed Login 접속 관리 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 대해 논한다.

SaaS 환경에서는 다수의 사용자가 동일한 어플리케이션을 이용하게 되므로 사용자에 따라 특정 자원 혹은 기능에 대한 접근을 제어하는 보안 기능의 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 이러한 기능을 갖춘 SaaS 플랫폼의 중요성과 그 가치는 매우 크다 할 수 있으나 국내에서는 이에 대한 많은 연구가 보이지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 계층적 그룹 구조, 접속 시간·IP 주소·MAC ID 등에 따른 역할 부여 등 풍부한 기능을 제공하는 SaaS 플랫폼을 위한 사용자 권한 관리 시스템을 설계한다.

Biopharmaceuticals and the cell substrates used for their manufacture are currently tested for porcine adventitious viruses due to the widespread use of porcine trypsin in cell culture. Porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus (PTGV) is one of the major adventitious porcine viruses causing contaminated during the manufacture of biopharmaceuticals. Therefore, rapid and sensitive detection of PTGV is essential in ensuring the safety of biopharmaceuticals. A TaqMan probe real-time RT-PCR method was developed for the quantitative detection of PTGV contamination in cell substrates, raw materials, manufacturing processes, and final products, as well as PTGV clearance validation. Specific primers for the amplification of PTGV RNA were selected, and PTGV RNA was quantified by use of a specific TaqMan probe. Specificity, limit of detection (LOD), and robustness of the method was validated according to international guidelines on the validation of nucleic acid amplification tests. The sensitivity of the assay was calculated to be 1.10 × 100 TCID50/ml. The real-time RT-PCR method was validated to be reproducible, very specific to PTGV, and robust. The established real-time RT-PCR assay was successfully applied to the validation of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO)-K1 cells artificially infected with PTGV.

Hydrogels have been widely used in many research fields owing to optical transparency, good biocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, etc. Unlike typical hydrogels in the form of an unstructured bulk material, we developed aqueous dispersions of fiber-shaped hydrogel structures with high stability under ambient conditions and their application to various types of transparent soft cell culture interfaces with anisotropic nanoscale topography.Nanofibers based on the polyvinyl alcohol and polyacrylic acid mixture were prepared by electrospinning and hydrogelified to nano-fibrous hydrogels (nFHs) after thermal crosslinking and sulfuric acid treatment. By modifying various material surfaces with positively-charged polymers, negatively-charged superabsorbent nFHs could be selectively patterned by employing micro-contact printing or horizontally aligned by applying shear force with a wired bar coater.The angular distribution of bar-coated nFHs was dramatically reduced to ± 20° along the applied shear direction unlike the drop-coated nFHs which exhibit random orientations. Next, various types of cells were cultured on top of transparent soft nFHs which showed good viability and attachment while their behaviors could be easily monitored by both upright and inverted optical microscopy. Particularly, neuronal lineage cells such as PC 12 cells and embryonic hippocampal neurons showed highly stretched morphology along the overall fiber orientation with aspect ratios ranging from 1 to 14. Furthermore, the resultant neurite outgrowth and migration behaviors could be effectively controlled by the horizontal orientation and the three-dimensional arrangement of underlying nFHs, respectively.We expect that surface modifications with transparent soft nFHs will be beneficial for various biological/biomedical studies such as fundamental cellular studies, neuronal/stem cell and/or organoid cultures, implantable probe/device coatings, etc.

Purpose: Gastrectomy for elderly patients can significantly deteriorate the health-related quality of life (HRQoL). There was no report comparing HRQoL of elderly patients with young patients after gastrectomy for gastric cancer. This study assessed the differences in the changes of HRQoL at one year after gastrectomy according to age. Methods: From May 2014 to Feb 2016, we prospectively enrolled patients undergoing gastrectomy for gastric cancer. They completed the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer and gastric questionnaires preoperatively and at postoperative 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Results: We included 57 elderly patients (≥70 years old) and 74 younger patients. The elderly had similar demographic, surgical, and pathological characteristics with young patients except that elderly had more comorbidity, laparoscopic gastrectomies, and lesser postoperative chemotherapy. One month after gastrectomy, the score of global health status/quality of life, physical, role, and social functioning were significantly impaired in elderly patients. Among them, physical and role functioning were more impaired than those of young patients. The scores of physical functioning, role functioning, cognitive functioning, and social functioning were not fully recovered till 1 year after surgery. There was a significant age group difference in the changes in physical function over the 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: Elderly patients’ global health status/quality of life and social functioning significantly decreased at postoperative 1 month and recovered by 6 months after gastrectomy. There was a significant age-specific difference in physical functioning throughout the 1-year follow-up. Surgeons need to pay more attention to recovery of the elderly patients’ HRQoL after gastrectomy.
Phosphorylation Regulates Mycobacterial Proteasome

Mycobacterium tuberculosis possesses a proteasome systemthat is required for the microbe to resist elimination by thehost immune system. Despite the importance of the proteasomein the pathogenesis of tuberculosis, the molecular mechanismsby which proteasome activity is controlled remainlargely unknown. Here, we demonstrate that the α-subunit(PrcA) of the M. tuberculosis proteasome is phosphorylatedby the PknB kinase at three threonine residues (T84, T202,and T178) in a sequential manner. Furthermore, the proteasomewith phosphorylated PrcA enhances the degradation ofIno1, a known proteasomal substrate, suggesting that PknBregulates the proteolytic activity of the proteasome. Previousstudies showed that depletion of the proteasome and the proteasome-associated proteins decreases resistance to reactivenitrogen intermediates (RNIs) but increases resistance tohydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Here we show that PknA phosphorylationof unprocessed proteasome β-subunit (pre-PrcB)and α-subunit reduces the assembly of the proteasome complexand thereby enhances the mycobacterial resistance toH2O2 and that H2O2 stress diminishes the formation of theproteasome complex in a PknA-dependent manner. Thesefindings indicate that phosphorylation of the M. tuberculosisproteasome not only modulates proteolytic activity of theproteasome, but also affects the proteasome complex formationcontributing to the survival of M. tuberculosis underoxidative stress conditions.
