Growth characteristics such as density(quality), covering speed, green period, disease resistance, heading existence(number of seeds) and other characteristics were examined for selection of superior lines among the 133 zoysiagrass lines collected in 2001. Six superior lines were selected and the results were summarized as follows.<br/> Superior line, J01067 was longest for green period among the 133 zoysiagrasses and stayed green until the beginning of November. Leaf width of J01106 and J01129 lines was very narrow as 1.5㎜ and 2㎜, respectively and superior for density(quality), covering speed and disease resistance. J01122 line was selected for strongest disease resistance among the lines of Zoysia japonica. Leaf width of J01128 was 3.2㎜ showing midium type and similar to standard cultivar, Sunburst. This line also showed higher density and strong disease resistance like J01106 and J01129.<br/> Five growth characteristics for morphological classification of 133 zoysiagrass lines<br/> was used and divided into 3 cluster groups. Of 133 lines, 6 standard cultivars and 6 superior lines were classified as follows. First cluster group contained Belare, Meyer, Anyang-jungji, J01067, J01122, and second group contained S-94 and J01105, and third group contained Sunburst, Konhee, J01106, J01128 and J01129.<br/> <br/>

For the nonlinear strain path, traditional strain based FLD, linear FLD, reveals inaccuracies in the formability prediction. On the other hand, forming limit stress diagram, FLSD, shows superiority in formability prediction for nonlinear strain path. Nevertheless, the use of FLSD is very limited because of low sensitivity near forming limit and difficulty of understanding. Recently, effective plastic strain based FLD, EPS FLD, was proposed and supposed to get wider acceptance in the near future. In the present study, linear FLD and EPS FLD were compared for simulation of square cup deep drawing. In making of EPS FLD, numerical oscillations in deformation from simulation yield impractical oscillatory deformation paths. In order to obtain continuous and non-oscillatory deformation paths, a linear regression technique was utilized. In the comparison, EPS FLD shows different formability from linear FLD numerically. Experimental verification is strongly required to assess the suitability of EPS FLD definitely.

To understand the current status of neonatal surgery in Korea, a survey was made among the 27 members of Korean Association of Pediatric Surgeons. Response rate among surgeons was 78 percent, eighteen hospitals participated in this study. Five hundred and three cases of neonatal surgical patients were analyzed. In Korea, about 50% of cases were treated at the hospital in the capital city area. Regional number of patients were closely related to the regional population. Imperforate anus(19%), atresia/stenosis of gut(12%), and Hirschsprung's diseases(12%) were sitting at the top in the list. Majority of operation was done within the first week of life, especially during the first 24 hour period. Eighty per cent was major or so called index cases. Mortality in so-called index cases was 17%. High mortality was observed in patients with diaphragmatic hernia(47%), gastrointestinal perforation(65%) and esophageal atresia(28%). Low birth weight babies showed higher mortality in gastrointestinal perforation, esophageal atresia and abdominal wall defect. These were compared to 1993 survey of Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons.

OpenMP is becoming more and more useful as a simple parallel processing paradigm on SMP (Shared Memory Multi-Processors) computing environment with the development of multi-core processors. However, very few data is available publically regarding the OpenMP performance in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). In the present study a CFD test suite is prepared for the performance evaluation of OpenMP on various multi-core systems. The test suite is composed of two-dimensional numerical simulations for inviscid/viscous and reacting/non-reacting flows using three different levels of grid systems. One to five test runs were carried out on various systems from dual-core dual threads to 16-core 32-threads systems by changing the number of threads engaged for each test up to 80. The results exhibit some interesting results and the lessons learned from the tests would be quite helpful for the further use of OpenMP for CFD studies using multi-core processor systems.
