        In the research of course the dency and upbring program of athletic talents, I selected 146 Persons (17% of all) who were attending as a representitives of Chung-Nam and won the prize in individual event (Running, Swimming, Gymnastics) from the lst National Under Age Sports Contst of 10th. But actually 101 plaers were examined and the result is as follows. First of all, I search, examined and analyzed the course of talents. The result 1. They were-especially Swimming and Gymnastic players-excellent in aptitude and female was superior to male. 2. They favorably could promote themselves to high school but half of then entered university and continued their jobs. 3. In employment section, a teacher is only secure and the rate of teacher employment was about 30%. 4. Almost half of them won the prize more than tow times Swimming and Gymnastic players were superior to others. 5. Most of then were below the middle in intelligence and academic career. In the next, comparing the result to research about up buinging progran of Democracy with that of Communism. I will summarize the way of atheletics development and up bring and up program of Athetic talents in runer as follows. 1. In Democraxy put the purpise of athletic development and Upbringing program at private growth and development, but Communism aims for establishment of Socialism. labor and Self-defence political purpose. In Korea pursue both ofsides and put the weight on national prestige through athletics. 2. In the way of unearthing athletes, Communism dose that in infancy and trains them professionally at the special athlricschool and manuge scientifically. On the other hand Democracy trys to unearth them as early time but on their own opinions they choice special training conrse. They enroll normal school and train arferschool. In Korea try to find players throagh Under Age Sports Contest and we have middle, high athletic system. 3. In Democracy performs every kinds of sports contest at the view point of developing National athletic Policy, but Communism apply the norm of athletics to all people and Social athletics are favored. In Korea performs the norm of athletics to students in school and the standard is so low that assertion of extinction is comming grown. 4. In school education, Demcoracy performs for the purpose of education for the whole man. But communism makes it arule to play two more hours a week except normal athletic class. It is madatory In Korea athletic class is looked down on and students put the weight on entrance subject for university. The perception on athletics of people is not good and that brings weakness of urban student. 5. Privilege given to those who won the prize in international Contest in notable in Communism In Korea, they have privilage in annuity, compensation military service exemption, scholarship.

        Digestive Physiological Characteristics of the Gobiidae - Characteristics of CCK-producing Cells and Mucus-secreting Goblet Cells of Stomach Fish and Stomachless Fish -

        In this study, we investigated the characteristics of CCK-producing cells and mucus-secreting goblet cells with respect to stomach fish and stomachless fish of the Gobiidae in order to provide a basis for understanding the digestive physiology. Hairychin goby (Sagamia geneionema), which is stomachless fish, the numbers of mucus-secreting goblet cells is highest in the posterior intestine portion (P<0.05), while CCK-producing cells are scattered throughout the intestine. Gluttonous goby (Chasmichthys gulosus), which is stomach fish, mucus-secreting goblet cells are most abundant in the mid intestine portion (P<0.05), whereas CCK-producing cells are observed only in the anterior and mid intestine portion. Trident goby (Tridentiger obscurus) which is stomach fish, mucus-secreting goblet cells were most abundant in the mid intestine portion (P<0.05). CCK-producing cells are found in the anterior and mid intestine portion. Giurine goby, Rhinogobius giurinus which is also stomach fish, the largest number of mucus-secreting goblet cells showed in anterior intestine portion except for esophagus (P<0.05). CCK-producing cells are present only in the anterior and mid intestine portion. In S. geneionema, digestive action occurs in the posterior intestine portion to protect and functions to activate digestion. In contrast, in C. gulosus, T. obscurus and R. giurinus, their digestive action occurs in the anterior and mid intestine portion to protect and functions to activate digestion. Further studies of the modes of food ingestion by these fish, the contents of their digestive tracts, and the staining characteristics of the goblet cells need to be carried out.

        Celay/In-Ceram, Conventional In-Ceram, Empress 2 전부도재관의 변연적합도에 관한 비교 연구

        There have been many studies about marginal discrepancy of single restorations made by various systems and materials. But many of statistical inferences are not definite because of sample size, measurement number, measuring instruments. etc. The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal adaptations of the anterior single restorations made by different systems and to consider more desirable statistical methods in analysing the marginal fit. The in vitro marginal discrepancies of three different all-ceramic crown systems (Celay In-Ceram. Conventional In-Ceram. IPS Empress 2 layering technique) and one control group (PFM) were evaluated and compared. The crowns were made from one extracted maxillary central incisor prepared with a 1mm shoulder margin and $6^{\circ}$ taper walls by milling machine. 10 crowns per each system were fabricated. Measurements or a crown were recorded at 50 points that were randomly selected for marginal gap evaluation. Non-parametric statistical analysis was performed for the results. Within the limits of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1 Mean gap dimensions and standard deviations at the marginal opening for the maxillary incisor crowns were $98.2{\pm}40.6{\mu}m$ for PFM, $83.5{\pm}18.7{\mu}m$ for Celay In-Ceram, $104.9{\pm}44.1{\mu}m$ for conventional In-Ceram, and $45.5{\pm}11.5{\mu}m$ for IPS Empress 2 layering technique. The IPS Empress 2 system showed the smallest marginal gap (P<0.05). The marginal openings of the other three groups were not significantly different (P<0.05). 2 The marginal discrepancies found in this study were all within clinically acceptable standards ($100\sim150{\mu}m$). 3. When the variable is so controlled that the system may be the only one, mean value is interpreted to be the marginal discrepancy of a restoration which is made by each system and standard deviation is to be technique-sensitivity of each one. 4. From the standard deviations. the copy-milling technique (Celay/In-Ceram) was not considered to be technique-sensitive in comparison with other methods. 5. Parametric analysis is more reliable than non-parametric one in interpretation of the mean and standard deviation. The sample size of each group has to be more than 30 to use parametric statistics. The level of clinically acceptable marginal fit has not been established. Further studies are needed.

      • Centrosomal Protein192(Cep192) is Essential for Formation of Spindle Assembly and Microtubule during Porcine Oocyte Maturation

        In mammalian oocyte, acentriolar MTOC(Microtubule organizing center) surrounded by pericentriolar material (PCM) serve as the core structure of the centrosome. Acentriolar MTOC acts like a functional centriole in mouse oocyte. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood in mammalian germ cell. Here we show that Cep192, an evolutionarily conserved protein, is required for generation of a functional MTOC organizing spindle assembly in porcine oocyte. We found that Cep192 is recruited to the proximal acentriolar MTOC in metaphase I stage during porcine in vitro maturation. In particularly, Cep192 is expressed well in proximal regions of spindle at Anaphase I. Using injection of dsRNA against Cep192, Cep192 mRNA and proteins was decreased and depletion of Cep192 caused porcine oocyte maturation and impair spindle assembly in porcine oocyte. We also find that two cell cycle related kinase, polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) and aurora kinase A (AURKA) are involved in the porcine oocyte maturation, indicating the common roles of cell cycle kinases in mammalian oocytes. Taken together, Cep192 is one of essential factor for the acentriolar spindle formations in porcine oocyte and indicating the conservation of roles of Cep192 in spindle assembly in mammalian meiotic cell division.

      • Characteristics of Foraging Activities by 2 Species of Pollinator, A. mellifera and B. terrestris on Apricot Tree

        To increase the fruit quality and productivity of the apricot, 2 species of insects, Apis mellifer, and Bombus terrestris were used for pollination in apricot field in Yeongcheon province. This study was conducted using 3 kinds of methods for pollination effect, natural condition, net-house treatment and control method. Also this experiment carried out in 2 places, vinyl-house and field condition. In case of field treatment of Apis mellifera, heating lamp experiment was added in net-house to find out the reason for harmful efficacy of low temperature early in the spring. Species of apricot, Mangum, was used in this experiment. A number of foraging activity of Apis mellifera and Bombus terrestris in vinyl-house showed higher than in field condition. But after stoping heating, showed low efficacy after showing peak in 1 PM. In field, Apis mellifera showed peak of foraging activity from 1 to 3PM, heating lamp experiment of field condition showed peak in 3 PM and then lowest tendency to evening suddenly. The fruit set rate of Apis mellifera and Bombus terrestris in vinyl-house showed higher with 92% and 89% respectively than control with 83%. In field, heating lamp treatment of Apis melliferawas was highest with 28% compared to Bombus terrestris with 25% and control with 15%. This results suppose that apricot in field was to be harmed by low temperature and frost in blooming time early in spring

      • Changes in plasma steroid levels during annual reproductive cycle of ribbed gunnel, Dictyosoma burgeri : Cortisol is related to reproduction?

        We investigated the changes in plasma sex steroid hormones, testosterone (T), estradiol-17β (E2), 17,20 β-dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (17α20βOHP), 11-ketotestosterone (11KT) and cortisol levels from ribbed gunnel, Dictyosoma burgeri in associated with annual reproductive cycle. The fish were collected at the coastal waters of Dadaepo, Busan, Korea from August 2002 to March 2003. Body weight, liver weight and gonad weight were measured for calculation of hepatosomatic index (HSI) and gonadosomatic index (GSI). Plasma steroid and cortisol levels were measured by radioimmunoassay and data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Spearman rank correlation. The GSI of females increased from November, peaked in February (13.21±2.27) and decreased rapidly from March (1.05±0.23). The GSI of males also increased from November, peaked in December (0.36±0.12) and remained high to February. In females, E2 levels increased and remained high from December to February (19.81±7.46~22.85±6.18 ng/ ㎖). The levels of T showed a similar tendency and correlated (rs=0.813, p=0.0001) significantly with E2 levels. The levels of 17α20βOHP increased rapidly in February (4.78±1.01 ng/㎖) and peaked in July (5.08±0.65 ng/㎖). Cortisol level was peaked in March (2081.07±1140.02 ng/㎖) and correlated significantly with 17α20βOHP levels (rs=0.790, p=0.0001). In males, the levels of T was peaked in January (2.43±0.17 ng/㎖) and then decreased rapidly. The levels of 11KT were remained high from October to January (3.27±1.55~4.28±1.53 ng/㎖) and correlated significantly with T levels (rs=0.513, p=0.002). On the other hand, the levels of 17α20βOHP fluctuated during reproductive cycle and the variation pattern of cortisol levels were similar to females. These results suggest that plasma sex steroids in ribbed gunnels have annual periodicity, and that cortisol may involve in maturation of females.

        A Survey on the Perception of Companion Plants for Eco-Friendly Urban Agriculture among Urban Residents

        Background and objective: This study was conducted as part of research to promote garden diversity and seek sustainable garden management plans, as well as to determine the trends in understanding and use of companion plants as an eco-friendly farming method and provide the results as the basic data for sustainable urban agriculture. Methods: To determine the trends in garden activities, eco-friendly pest control, and use of companion plants, a survey was conducted on 230 urban residents participating in the Urban Agriculture Expert course. 223 copies of the questionnaire were collected excluding missing values, and IBM SPSS statistics Ver. 25 Program was used for frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, and regression analysis. Results: Most of the respondents were female (71.3%), homemakers (26.5%), were in their 50s (29.1%), and had 2 members in the family (27.8%). 164 respondents (73.5%) had experience in gardening, most of them once a week (31.7%) and for self-consumption (55.5%). Both men and women raised crops for safe food production (32.3%), and they most preferred the city garden type (39.9%). For the preparation of nourishment for eco-friendly garden management, most respondents (60.1%) purchased fertilizers from the market. For the reason why eco-friendly pest control is necessary, all respondents except 4 of them (98.2%) responded that it is necessary ‘because it affects my health as I eat it (73.5%)', indicating that they still had a high level of interest in health. Only 43.9% of the respondents said that they had heard of companion plants, 89.2% responded that companion plants were effective in eco-friendly management, and 87.4% showed the will to participate in gardening using companion plants in the future. Finally, the regression analysis confirmed that the awareness of companion plants and satisfaction with gardening activities are key variables that increase the intention to participate in gardening activities in the future. Conclusion: Since plants require special care depending on the period and various diseases and insect pests occur, there must be continuous research on companion plants as an eco-friendly farming method. Moreover, by actively using companion plants in urban gardens with the utility value in not only eco-friendly pest control but also in helping plant growth, urban agriculture is expected to be continuously activated and promoted by increasing satisfaction in gardening activities with aesthetic landscaping and pest control.

        Effects of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus on Immune Cells such as Thymocytes, Splenocytes and Macrophages in Mice

        Objective : Immune potentiation including activation of T cells, B cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells is known to play a key role in prevention and treatment of patients with cancer. In this study, we investigated the effects of Acanthopanax sessiliflorus (AR) on the immune system, especially on thymocytes, splenocytes, and macrophages.Methods : We investigated the effects of AR on proliferation of splenocytes in normal mice, and the effects on proliferation of splenocytes and thymocytes in tumor-bearing mice. In addition, the effect of AR on NO production using macrophages was investigated. Results : Treatment with AR accelerated proliferation of splenocytes in vitro. AR also accelerated thymocyte proliferation, but did not affect splenocytes proliferation in normal mice. In contrast, AR accelerated proliferation of splenocytes and thymocytes significantly in tumor bearing mice. In addition, NO production level from macrophages was elevated by treatment with AR.Conclusion : These results demonstrate that AR has anti-cancer activities and related mechanisms are involved in immune potentiation such as acceleration of immune cell proliferation and elevation of NO production level in macrophages. In addition, we also demonstrate the possibilities of AR as complementary and alternative medicine to standard anti-cancer drugs.

      • Effect of Proanthocyanidin-rich extract from Pinus radiata bark on immune response of Chickens

        프로안토시아니딘은 과일, 채소, 씨앗, 꽃, 수피 등 자연계에서 널리 존재하는 물질이다. Part Ⅰ에서는 SPF 백색 산란계에서의 라디아타 소나무 수피프로안토시아니딘 추출물(PAE)의 면역조절 효과를 실험하였고, Part Ⅱ에서는 육계에서의 면역조절 효과를 실험하였다. 또한, Part Ⅲ에서는 토종닭에 대한 면역조절 효과를 실험하였다. Part Ⅰ의 결과를 보면, PAE를 20 ㎎/㎏으로 2주간 투여한 SPF백색 산란계에서 PBMC 증식이 증가하였다. 또한, PAE를 5, 10, 20 ㎎/㎏으로 5주간 투여한 닭에서는 비장과 F낭 세포의 증식이 증가하였고, PAE를 5, 10 ㎎/㎏으로 5주간 투여한 닭에서 흉선세포의 증식이 증가하였다. 이러한 효과들은 LPS와 Con A를 처리한 조건에서도 동일하게 나타났으며, 이는 PAE가 SPF 백색 산란계에서 세포성 면역과 체액성 면역을 증가시키는 것으로 사료된다. 또한, PAE는 SPF 백색 산란계에서 Th1 사이토카인인 IFN- γ의 발현을 촉진하는 반면, Th2 사이토카인인 IL-6의 발현은 억제하였다. Part II의 결과를 보면, PBMC와 흉선세포의 증식은 PAE를 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏으로 투여한 육계에서 증가하였고, 비장세포의 증식은 PAE를 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏으로 투여한 닭에서 증가하였다. 이러한 효과들은 Part Ⅰ에서와 마찬가지로 LPS와 Con A를 처리한 조건에서도 동일하게 나타났다. 반면, PAE를 투여한 육계에서의 사이토카인 발현은 SPF 백색 산란계와는 다르게 IL-18과 IL-1β가 촉진되었다. Part Ⅲ에서는 PAE의 투여용량과 투여기간에 따른 효과를 평가하였다. 실험 1(투여용량에 따른 실험)에서 PBMC의 증식은 PAE를 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏으로 2주간 투여한 토종닭에서 증가하였다. 또한, 비장과 흉선 세포의 증식은 PAE를 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏으로 5주간 투여한 토종닭에서 증가하였다. 실험 2(투여기간에 따른 실험)에서 PBMC, 비장, 흉선 세포의 증식은 PAE(50 ppm)를 6주동안 투여한 토종닭에서 지속적으로 증가하였고, Th1 사이토카인들(IL-2, IL-12, IFN- γ)의 발현이 증가되었다. 반면, Th2 사이토카인들(IL-4, IL-10, IL13)은 발현되지 않았다. 또한, FACS 분석을 통해 PAE를 4주이상 투여한 토종닭의 비장세포에서는 Th1, B 세포의 집단이 증가한 것을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로, 닭에서 프로안토시아니딘은 Th1에 유도되는 면역반응을 촉진하는 효과를 나타내고 있으며, 이는 닭의 감염성 질병(세균 및 바이러스 등)에 대한 예방효과를 나타낼 것으로 사료된다. 프로안토시아니딘의 이러한 면역조절 효과는 SPF 백색산란계, 육계, 토종닭 등 품종에 따라 유사하면서도 약간의 차이를 보인다. 또한, 급여기간에 따라서도 면역증강 효과가 지속적으로 증가하지 않고, 일정기간 이상을 급여하면, 더 이상의 면역력이 증가하지 않고 유지됨을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 프로안토시아니딘과 같은 면역증강물질에 대한 효능평가에 대해서 품종에 따른 급여농도, 급여기간 등의 평가가 수반되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. Proantocyanidins are naturally occurring compounds that are widely found in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, flowers and bark. In part I, we evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of proanthocyanidin-rich extract (PAE) from Pinus radiata bark in specific pathogen free (SPF) White Leghorn chickens. Proliferation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells was significantly enhanced in chickens treated for 2 weeks with 20 ㎎/㎏ PAE. Proliferation of splenocytes and bursal cells was significantly enhanced in chickens treated for 5 weeks with 5, 10, and 20 ㎎/㎏ PAE. Thymocyte proliferation was significantly enhanced in chickens treated for 5 weeks with 5 and 10 ㎎/㎏ PAE. These effects were markedly enhanced by the presence of lipopolysaccharide, which actedon B cells responsible for humoral immunity, and concanvalin A, which acteddirectly on T cells involved in cell mediated immunity. PAE significantly promoted the expression of Th1 cytokine (interferon-gamma) and decreased the expression of Th2 cytokine (interleukin-6). In part Ⅱ, we evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of proanthocyanidin-rich extract (PAE) from Pinus radiata bark in broiler. Proliferation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells and thymocytes was significantly enhanced in 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏ PAE-treated broiler chickens. Proliferation of splenocytes was significantly enhanced in 1.25, 2.5, 5, 10 ㎎/㎏ PAE-treated broiler chickens. These effects were markedly enhanced by the presence of LPS, which acts on B cells responsible for humoral immunity, and Con A, which acts directly on T cells involved in cell mediated immunity. PAE significantly promoted the expression of interleukin-18 and interleukin-1 β. In part Ⅲ, We evaluated the immunomodulatory effects of proanthocyanidin-rich extract (PAE) from Pinus radiata bark in Korean native chickens. In experiment 1, proliferation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was significantly enhanced in chickens administered for 2 weeks with 1.25, 2.5, 5 and 10 ㎎/㎏ PAE. Proliferation of splenocytes and thymocytes cells was significantly enhanced in chickens administered for 5 weeks with 1.25, 2.5, 5 and 10 ㎎/㎏ PAE. In experiment 2, proliferation of PBMCs, splenocytes and thymocytes in the PAE-administered chickens for 6 weeks were continuously higher than other groups and significantly promoted the expression of Th1 cytokines (IL-2, IL-12, and IFN- γ). Also, the CD4+CD8- (Th1 cell) and Bu-1+ (B cell) cell population significantly upregulated after 4 weeks in PAE-administered chickens.

      • Oviposition and colony development of undiapaused Bombus terrestris queens in 3rd generation

        In order to select the superior lines of bumblebee queens(Bombus terrestris) in oviposition and colony development which has some characteristics of diapause with adult type, undiapaused bumblebee queens of 3rd generation were surveyed in room condition compared to queen treated with CO2 and artificial hibernation. Oviposition rate and preovipositional days of undiapaused queens was lower in efficacy with 46.7% and shows same trend in preovipositional days with 52.8 days than the other treatment with CO2 anesthesia and artificial hibernation with 60.0%, 86.7%, 26.1 days and 26.6 days respectively. In continuous experiment, we also surveyed ovipositional characteristic and colony development of three types of queens emergenced from undiapaused queens and treated queens with CO2 and artificial hibernation. Although undiapaused queens in 1st generation were more effective in the same condition than treated queens, but the undiapaused queens of 3rd generation emergenced from undiapaused queens of 2nd generation were very low trend in all checkpoints compared with treated queens in same generation.
