To evaluate the T1, T2 magnetic relaxation properties of water molecule according to molecular weight of paramagnetic complex. 4-aminomethyicyclohexane carboxylic acid (0.63 g, 4 mmol) was mixed with the suspension solution of DMF (15 ml) and DTPA-bis-anhydride (0.71 g, 2 mmol) to synthesize the ligand. The ligand was then mixed with $Gd_2O_3$ (0.18 g, 0.5 mmol) to synthesize Gd-chelate. For the measurement of magnetic relaxivity of paramagnetic compounds, the compounds were diluted to 1 mM and then the relaxation times were measured at 1.57 (64 MHz). Inversion-recovery pulse sequence was employed for T1 relaxation measurement and CPMG (Carr-Purcell-Meiboon-Gill) pulse sequence was employed for T2 relaxation measurement. In case of inversion recovery sequence, total 35 images with different inversion time(T1)s ranging from 50 msec to 1,750 msec. To estimate the relaxation times, the signal intensity of each sample was measured using region of Interest (ROI) and then fitted by non-linear least square method to yield T1, T2 relaxation times and also R1 and R2. Compared to T1=($205.1{\pm}2.57$) msec and T2=($209.4{\pm}4.28$) msec of Omniscan (Gadodiamide), which is commercially available paramagnetic MR agent, T1 and T2 values of new paramagnetic complexes were reduced along with their molecular weight. That is, T1 value was ranged from $(96.35{\pm}2.04)\;to\;(79.38{\pm}1.55)$ msec and T2 value was ranged from $(91.02{\pm}2.08)\;to\;(76.66{\pm}1.84)$ msec. Among new paramagnetic complexes, there is a tendency that the R1 and R2 increase as the molecular weight is increases. As molecular weight of paramagnetic complex increases, T1 and T2 relaxation times reduce and thus the increase of relaxivity (R1 and R2) Is proportional to molecular weight.

Bartter syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by the association of hypokalemic hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis, hyperreninemia, hyperaldosteronemia, short stature and nephrocalcinosis. This disorder presents with hyperplasia of juxtaglomerular apparatus on renal biopsy. We experienced a case of late-onset Bartter syndrome with nephrocalcinosis in a 9-year-old boy, whose chief pictures were muscle weakness, short stature, persistent sterile pyuria and microscopic hematuria. We report this case with a brief review of related literatures.
갈대-상(床)을 이용한 쓰레기 매립지 침출수의 생물학적 연속흐름 처리

We investigate the biological treatment of processed-leachate from SUDOKWON landfill site in Korea by the reed (Phragmites australis)-bed with a continuous flow system. The reed individuals showing superior growth in processed-leachate experiment were selected among the reeds of thirteen natural habitats by means of the comparisons between the removal rates of nutrient salts, eco-physiological responses and growth. The reed-beds (combination of the reed individuals showing superior growth with helper microorganisms) were continuously supplied with processed-leachate. We monitored the effluents that passing through the reed-beds during the experiment period. After five weeks, analysis results of effluent from each reed-bed were as follows; chromaticity, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, biological oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, total dissolved solid and salinity decreased $29.5{\sim}36.9\%,\;49.4{\sim}67.2\%,\;42.1{\sim}94.6\%,\;74.5{\sim}88.8\%,\;15.6{\sim}20.8\%,\;17.5{\sim}35.4\%\;and\;15.3{\sim}34.7\%$, respectively. These results represented the substantial improvement of water-quality after passing through reed-bed in a continuous flow system.

International Competition for Parc de la Villette has evoked the old architectural question that is about the conflict between unchanging architecture and ever changing time. Tschumi and Koolhaas suggested well-known solutions for it, both of which had started from the criticism of general urban design approach that ignored changing factors in time. However, this study argues that the approaches of Tschumi and Koolhaas are even opposite to each other in spite of their common aims. Influenced by deconstructivists' theories, Tschumi tries to generate the 'text' on the surface of la Villette so that the different users of the park can read it differently. The text is built by 'superimposing' different systems such as points, lines, and surfaces. This study criticizes such formalistic approach since such 'forms' do not generate any dialogue with the real users but just stay as a backdrop for irrelevant events. Meanwhile, Koolhaas concentrates on the 'ground-ness' of la Villette. What he deals with is the real ground which embraces all the potentials on it already. His 'bands' express nothing but the metamorphosis of the ground, and the ground generates the 'differences' out of itself by repeating itself ceaselessly. This study tries to clarify all those happenings and meanings by intimate investigation of various drawing works for the la Villette project by Tschumi and Koolhaas.
구술조사를 통해 본 우키시마호 소송참가자들의 사건에 대한 기억과 인식

1945년 8월 24일 오후 5시 20분 경 오미나토항에서 부산으로 향하던 우키시마호가 교토부 마이즈루항 앞바다에서 침몰하였다. 이 배에는 3,700명~12,000명으로 추산되는 조선인들이 타고 있었다. 일본정부는 사망자수를 524명이라 발표하였으나, 목격자들은 3천~8천명이 사망하였다고 증언한다. 1992년 8월 25일 생존자와 사망자의 유족들로 구성된 80명의 한국인들이 일본 법정에서 일본국의 사죄와 배상을 요구하는 소송을 제기하였다. 1심에서 부분승소하였으나, 항소심과 최종심에서 원고인들의 요구는 모두 기각되었다. 소송을 최초로 시작한 사람은 일본에 거주하는 송두회와 ‘진상과 배상을 촉구하는 모임’의 일본인들이었다. 원고인들은 소송 과정에서 외로움을 느꼈다고 이야기한다. 한국언론과 한국 정부가 우키시마호 소송이 진행되는 동안 무관심으로 일관했기 때문이다. 우키시마호 사건은 일제 강점기 강제동원되었던 조선인이 대규모로 희생된 사건이다. 일본국의 공식사과와 배상을 통해 희생자들의 한을 달래주고자 했던 유족들의 실망은 이루 말할 수가 없다. 이와 함께 그들을 힘들게 했던 것은 한국사회의 무관심이다. 우키시마침몰 사고의 진상규명과 피해자 및 유족들에 대한 후속조치를 위해 학계와 언론계, 그리고 한국정부가 적극적으로 노력하고, 대책을 강구하여야 한다. August 22, 1945 Ukishima maru left Ominato toward Busan. However, 24th August 1945 the ship was sunk into the sea of Maizuru, Kyoto Prefecture. 3700 ~ 12,000 Koreans were aboard. The Japanese government announced the death toll as 524 people. However, witnesses testified 3,000-8,000 people were killed. 25th August 1992 80 South Koreans filed a lawsuit demanding an apology and compensation from Japan in the Japanese court. Although partial victory in the first instance, plaintiffs’ demands were finally rejected by the Japanese Supreme Court. Who initiated the lawsuit were Son Duhi and Japanese citizens and they helped the Korean plaintiffs. Plaintiffs said that they felt loneliness in the lawsuit process. Because the Korean media and the Korean government were indifferent while the lawsuit proceeded. Ukishima maru incident was the case in which compulsorily mobilized Koreans died on a large scale. Families of the deceased wanted to solve the deep sorrow by achieving Japanese government’s official apology and compensation, which ended with great disappointment. One more thing that made the plaintiffs disappointed was the indifference of Korean media and government. Academia, the media, and the Korea government must follow up on the investigation of the Ukishima maru incident and take measures for the victims and their families.
나사 표준 착화기 (NASA Standard Initiators) 연결 전기 커넥터의 규격 비교

공개된 자료들을 바탕으로 NASA의 표준 착화기 NSI-1,2,3의 간략한 성능규격 비교와 함께 NSI에 연결되는 전기 커넥터의 규격을 비교하였다. NSI-1,2에 연결되는 커넥터의 규격은 MSFC-40M38298과 MIL-DTL-26482, series1이며, NSI-3에 연결되는 커넥터의 규격은 MIL-DTL-38999, series3이다. 전체적인 내환경 성능은 낮음에서 높음 순서로 MIL-DTL-26482, series1/MSFC-40M38298/MIL-DTL-38999, series3 이다. 특히, 고충격, 고진동 환경에서 착화기를 사용하여야 한다면 NSI-3의 커넥터 규격인 MIL-DTL-38999, series3의 커넥터를 사용하는 것이 적절할 것이다. Based on published materials, we compared specifications of mating electrical connectors for the NASA Standard Initiators NSI-1,2,3 with each other after the initiator specifications summary. The mating connector specifications for NSI-1,2 are MSFC-40M38298 and MIL-DTL-26482, series1 while for NSI-3 is MIL-DTL-38999, series3. The MIL-DTL-38999, series3 has the highest overall environmental resistance performance. MSFC-40M38298 is the next and MIL-DTL-26482, series1 follows. In particular, if initiators be used under severe shock and vibration environments, the MIL-DTL-38999, series3 should be applied.
액체로켓엔진 건전도 감시/관리 (Health Monitoring/Management) 기법의 최신 동향

액체로켓엔진의 건전성 모니터링 및 관리기법에 관련된 주로 최근 10여년 간의 문헌을 조사하여 그 내용을 정리하였다. 액체로켓엔진의 여러 구성품 중 특히 터보펌프가 액체로켓엔진시스템의 건전성에 특히 중요하며, 주로 가속도 센서와 변위 센서를 이용한 진동 데이터로 터보펌프의 건전성이 평가되었다. 액체로켓엔진 건전성 관련기법의 전체적인 경향은 가스터빈엔진으로부터 유래된 통합 시스템 건전성 관리의 방향으로 나아가는 것으로 판단되며, 그 중의 핵심기술은 결함 인지 및 진단 알고리즘이다. 그리고, 이 결함 인지 및 진단 알고리즘은 단독 개념이 아니라 통합 시스템 건전성 개념 아래에서 개발되고 정립되어야 한다. In this paper, literature survey results are presented for the liquid rocket engine health monitoring/management methods. Among various liquid rocket engine subsystems, turbopump unit is important for the engine health. Usually vibration data form accelerometer and proximeters are used for turbopump health monitoring. Overall trends of the liquid rocket engine health related methods seem to be towards integrated system health management of which concept from gas turbine engine. The core technology of such system health management is the fault detection & diagnosis methods that should be developed and completed in the framework of the integrated system health management.
