        백서에서 Depulpin®과 Formocresol에 대한 치수와 치근단 조직의 반응

        One fifth dilution of formocresol is usually for pulpotomy of the primary teeth and emergency pulpotomy of the permanent teeth. However, the use of formaldehyde has been subjected to criticism because it may be absorbed into the blood stream and become distributed systemically, it may also alter the pulp tissue rendering it immumologically active, and have carcinogenic potential. Recently Depulpin®(VoCo., Germany) gains popularity as a devitalizing agent during root canal therapy in spite of high concentration of 49% paraformaldehyde because it facilitate devitalization of pulp and make root canal therapy easier. But there have been not enough publications about the reaction of pulp and periapical tissue caused by Depulpin. This study was performed to evaluate the histological changes in pulp and periapical tissue of rats after pulpotomy using formocresol and Depulpin and to elucidate the toxic effects of these agents. Thirty six Sprague-Dawley rats were anesthetized by intraperitoneal injection of ketamine. Maxillary first molar teeth were used for pulpotomy with formocresol and Depulpin. Rats were sacrificed after 2 days, 4 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks respectively. Specimens were histologically observed by light microscope changes in pulp and periapical tissue. The obtained results were as follows. 1. Formocresol group A zone of fixed tissue, in which odontoblasts could clearly be defined, was present directly underneath the pulpotomy dressing in almost all teeth of this group. This was followed by an area of necrotic tissue which resembled dried out fibrous tissue with no cellular detail except some pyknotic nuclei. In the specimens of after 2 days, 4 days, 1 week, 2 weeks in which vital tissue was present. it was separated from the fibrous area by a zone of inflammation. In the specimens of after 3 weeks and after 4 weeks, inflammatory infiltrate was in the periodontal ligament adjacent to the apical foramina of the teeth. 2. Depulpin® group The area of necrotic tissue which had no cells and fibers , was present adjacent to the dressing. This was followed by dried out fibrous tissue with no cellular details except some pyknotic nucleli. A short stump of vital pulp with odontoblasts was present at the end of the canal after 2 days. Inflammatory infiltrate was in the periodontal ligament after 4 days and after 1week. Severe root resorption and necrosis of periapical tissue opposite the root resorption site were defined after 2 weeks and after 3 weeks. Periapical lesion which consist of necrotic tissue surrounded by a fibrous connective wall. was found after 4 weeks. The results indicated that Depulpin can cause more adverse reaction to the dental pulp and periapical tissue than formocresol, and further studies are needed for its clinical use with safety.

        정상교합을 가진 유치열기 아동의 두부방사선 계측학적 연구

        소아치과 영역에서 아동의 두부방사선 계측치의 비교분석은 성장과 발육의 평가에 중요하며 부정교합의 조기진단과 치료를 위한 두개 안면부의 형태, 성장 양상을 아는 것에 필수적이다. 이를 위하여 두부방사선 계측학적 표준치가 중요한데 유치열기에 관한 연구는 많지 않으므로 유치열기 정상교합 아동의 표준치를 얻고 과거 연구에서의 계측치와 비교하고자 서울시내 소재의 유아원 아동 중 유치열기의 정상교합을 가진 4세에서 5세 아동으로 본원에 내원한 안모 및 전신 발육 상태가 양호한 아동 46명을 대상으로 측모 두부방사선 계측 사진을 촬영, 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 골격상 계측항목에서 각도 계측치는 남녀사이에 유의한 차이가 없고 길이 계측치는 남자가 여자보다 전반적으로 큰 수치를 보였다. 2. SNA는 81.3°, SNB는 76.6°, ANB difference는 4.7°를 나타냈다. 3. Anterior cranial base length에 대한 Mandibular body length의 비율은 남녀모두 0.9:1이었고 Anterior facial height에 대한 Posterior facial height의 백분율은 남자 61.4%, 여자 62.1%를 나타냈다. 4. 치성 계측항목에서는 IMPA는 84.2°, UA to SN은 90.8°를 나타냈다. 5. Ricketts의 심미선에 대하여 상순은 2.6mm, 하순은 2.5mm 전방으로 위치하고 있었다. In the field of pediatric dentistry, comparison and analysis of cephalogram values of children are important for evaluation of growth and development, and are essential to evaluate the craniofacial form and growth pattern for early diagnosis of malocclusion. For this, cephalographic norm values are important, but not many studies on the primary dentition exist. To compare the past norm values of normal occlusion in the primary dentition with current norms, preschool children, 4 to 5 years of age, with normal occlusion in the primary dentition who visited our hospital were examined. Among these children, 46 children with normal facial form and developmental status were chosen for evaluation of cephalogram values. The following results were as follows: 1. For skeletal values, the angular values showed no significant differences between males and females, and the linear values were generally greater in males than females. 2. SNA was 81.3°, SNB was 76.6° and ANB difference was 4.7°. 3. The ratio for Mandibular body length to Anterior cranial base length was 0.9 : 1 for both male and female and the ratio for posterior facial height to anterior facial height was 61.4 % for male, 62.0% for female. 4. For dental values, IMPA was 84.2°, and UA to SN was 90.8°. 5. The upper lip to Ricketts esthetic line was positioned 2.6 mm anteriorly , and the lower lip to Ricketts esthetic line was positioned 2.5 mm anteriorly.

        Effects of Phenytoin and Diazepam on the Seizure Activity in the Cortical Dysplasia Animal Models

        Dysplasia-associated seizure disorders are markedly resistant to pharmacological intervention. Relatively little research has been conducted studying the effects of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs) on seizure activity in a rat model of dysplasia. We have used rats exposed to methylazoxymethanol acetate(MAM) in utero, an animal model featuring nodular heterotopia, to investigate the effects of AEDs in the dysplastic brain. Pilocarpine was used to induce acute seizure in MAM-exposed and age-matched vehicle-injucted control animals. Field potential recordings were used to monitor amplitude and numbers population spikes, and paired pulse inhibition in response to stimulation of commissural pathway. Two commonly used AEDs were tested: diazepam 5, 2.5mg/kg;phenytoin 40, 60mg/kg. Diazepam(DZP) and phenytoin(PHT) reduced the amplitude of population spike in control and MAM-exposed rats. However, the amplitude of population spike was nearly eliminated in control rats as compared to the MAM-exposed rats. Pharmaco-resistance was tested by measuring seizure latencies in awake rats after pilocarpine administration(320mg/kg, i.p.) with and without pretreatment with AEDs. Pre-treatment with PHT 60 mg prolonged seizure latency in control rats, but not in MAM-exposed animals. The main findings of this study are that acute seizures initiated in MAM-exposed rats are relatively resistant to standard AEDs assessed in vivo. These data suggest that animal model with cortical dysplasia can be used to screen the effects of potential AEDs.

        The ultimate goal of periodontal therapy is to promote the regeneration of lost periodontal tissue, there have been many attempts to develop a method to achieve this goal, but none of them was completely successful. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Bio-oss on Alkaline Phosphatase(ALP) Activity in Human Fetal Osteoblasts (hFOB1). The results of this study were as follows, in ALP Activity, 100 ㎍/㎖ Bio-oss treated group showed significantly increased value than negative control group, but positive group(10^-7 M dexamethasone treated group) showed the highest ALP activity at 3 day. In mineralization assay, numerous mineralized nodules were identified as darkly stained spots in 100 ㎍/㎖ Bio-oss treated group than two control groups, whereas a small number of mineralized nodules were showed in the positive control. ALP may relate to the initial phase of bone nodule formation. On the basis of these results, this study showed Bio-oss is capable of accelerating new bone formation through hFOB1 differentiation in vitro.

        중앙아시아 벽화 보존처리(1) : 벽화(본4074, 본4096)의 상태조사

        국립중앙박물관은 용산 새 박물관의 전시 유물로 선정된 중앙아시아 벽화의 연차적인 보존처리를 위해 “독립행정법인 일본 도쿄문화재연구소’’와 공동연구를 모색하게 되었다. 2001년에 본4074, 본4096 작은 벽화편 2점의 보존처리를 시작하면서 벽화의 균열 박락 등 손상상태, 구조와 구성재료, 이전 보존처리에서 적용된 재료와 방법에 대한 기초조사를 실시하였다. 조사결과 본4074, 본4096 2점의 벽화는 흙과 지푸라기를 반죽하여 만든 벽체에 석고를 발라 바탕으로 하고 그 위에 채색을 한 것으로 나타났으며 벽체 속에 포함된 지푸라기의 방사선 탄소연대측정 결과 본 벽화는 10세기 말에서 13세기 초에 만들어진 것으로 나타났다. 또한 X-선회절 분석 결과 화면의 흰색 바탕은 gypsum[Ca(SO₄)·2H₂O]과 CaSO₄, Calcite(CaCO₃)가 적색계통은 연단(鉛丹:Pb₃O₄)과 led arsenate[Pb(As₂O₆)], 녹색계통은 Cuprite(Cu₂O)와 arsenolite(As₂O₃), arsenic oxide(As₂O₄) 등이 사용된 것으로 조사되었다. This article is about a joint project carried out by the National Museum of Korea and the Tokyo Cultural Properties Research Institute for the conservation of central Asia Wall painting that has been selected for the exhibition at the new Seoul National Museum of Korea at Yongsan. The investigation of the wall painting revealed very useful information. This includes the condition of the object, and the identification of evident damage, such as cracks, loss of pigment, plus materials and methods employed during the object's creation, as well as previous conservation treatment. The object was mainly made by applying plaster to the body (wall) that consisted of a mixture of soils and rice straws. Then, on the surface of the wall-painting, pigments were used to draw and to colour it. As a part of the investigation, radiocarbon dating was conducted using straw samples taken from the object. The result indicates that the object is probably dated form between the end of the 10th Century and the beginning of the 13th Century. The result of X-ray diffraction also revealed the composition of the pigments used on the surface. These are 1. gypsom[Ca(SO₄)·2H₂O], CaSO₄ and Calcite(CaCO₃) and Calcite(CaCO₃) that were used for the white background. 2. Pb₃O₄ and led Arsenate [Pb(As₂O₆) that were used for the red colouring. 3. Cuprite(Cu₂O), Arsenolite(As₂O₃) and Arsenic Oxide(As₂O₄) that were used for the green colouring.
