Objectives:The aim of this study is to assess the quantity and quality of randomized controlled clinical trials(RCTs) published in the journal of oriental rehabilitation medicine(JORM).Methods:After searching RCTs from all the articles published in the JORM from the inception(1991) to Oct, 2012, quantity assessment were made on the study design, sample size, main intervention, intervention versus control design and medical condition.Quality assessment were made on the cochrane risk of bias(RoB) check list.Assessment was performed by 2 independent reviewers and disagreement was discussed based on concensus of all authors. Results:Among the 1013 articles, total 59 RCTs were published.First RCT was published in 1994.49 RCTs were parallel 2-arm designed.Average sample size was 35.1 per study and 16.3 per arm.The most common medical condition is musculoskeletal disease(30.5%).Quality from cochrane RoB was generally low. Conclusions:Though RCTs published in JORM were increasing, the quality remains low.Researchers should make a effort to follow the RoB checklists and improve the quantity and quality of studies.

ObjectivesThe aim of this study is to analyze the therapeutic effect of external Qigong therapy for treatment of other people`s disease on joint pain.MethodsWe searched articles from Pubmed, Chinese Academic Journals (CAJ) and Oasis online databases. Searching keywords were ‘external qigong’, ‘external qi gong’, ‘qi therapy’, ‘外?’, ‘??’ and ‘기공’. After searching the articles, we performed quality assess-ment using Cochrane risk of bias (RoB) tool and risk of bias assessment tool for non-randomized study (RoBANS).ResultsAmong the 117 articles were searched, 2 randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) and 2 single-group before and after studies were finally selected. All of 4 studies showed that external Qigong therapy has significant effect on joint pain.ConclusionsAlthough external Qigong therapy has therapeutic effect on joint pain, it is not common therapy yet. However, external Qigong therapy requires more interests and studies in the future, because it is faithful therapy for Korean medicine theory. (J Korean Med Rehab 2014;24(4):187-193)

Hyeon-Ju Lee,Sun-Yeop Lee,Min Hong,Joon-Hee Han,Da-Hye Choi,Liu Qing,Tae-Hyung Kwon,Soo-Ung Lee 한국식품영양과학회 2021 한국식품영양과학회 학술대회발표집 Vol.2021 No.10
In order to search for functional materials from natural products, 20 kinds of native Chinese food were received from the Green Food Research Institute in Jilin Province, China, and their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities were evaluated. For each extract, hot water and ethanol extracts were prepared and used for testing. As a result of measuring the antioxidant activity of each extract, At 400 μg/mL concentration, the hot water extract of Hovenia acerba Lindl. exhibited the highest antioxidant activity with DPPH radical scavenging activity (89.34±0.11%), ABTS radical scavenging (98.02±0.12%) and reducing power (0.489±0.01 OD value), and The total polyphenol content was the highest in the hot water extract of Rubus idaeus L. (182.38±3.43 mg/g). As a result of measuring the effect on RAW 264.7 cells induced by LPS treatment for anti-inflammatory activity evaluation, the highest NO production inhibitory activity was measured at the concentration of 200 μg/mL of hot water extract of Rubus idaeus L. ( 67.1 ± 8.2% of LPS), it also showed the highest activity in the inhibition of mRNA expression of COX-2, iNOS and IL6.

Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) presents with various extraintestinal manifestations, especially skin diseases. Objectives: We aimed to identify the epidemiology and risk of developing skin manifestations in patients with IBD. Methods: We used Korean National Health Insurance Claims database and selected patients with IBD and age/sex-matched non-IBD subjects using the diagnosis code and prescription records of IBD-specific medications from 2013 to 2017. The prevalence and risk of concurrent skin diseases were estimated. Results: A total of 64,837 patients with IBD was identified. Among 3 categories of reactive, inflammatory, and autoimmune skin diseases, reactive skin eruptions including pyoderma gangrenosum and erythema nodosum were associated with IBD with highest odds ratios. Inflammatory skin diseases including rosacea, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and acne conglobata were significantly associated with IBD. The patients with IBD also had a higher risk of autoimmune skin diseases including vitiligo and alopecia areata than non-IBD subjects. Conclusion: This population-based study suggests that IBD was related to various skin diseases including reactive, inflammatory, and autoimmune skin diseases. Considering these relationships can allow better management of patients with IBD and comorbid skin diseases.
