Localized surface plasmon resonance enhanced by the light-scattering property of silver nanoparticles for improved luminescence of polymer light-emitting diodes

        Cheng-Liang Huang,Hung Ji Huang,Sy-Hann Chen,Yu-Siang Huang,Po-Ching Kao,Yuan-Fong Chou Chau,Hai-Pang Chiang 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.103 No.-

This study used photochemical reduction to successfully synthesize triangular silver nanoplates (TAgNPs)and silver nanodecahedrons (AgNDs) with higher light-absorption and higher light-scattering properties, respectively, for the same wavelength. To analyze the contribution of light-absorption and lightscatteringof silver nanoparticles to the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate was doped with TAgNPs or AgNDs at the same concentration(1.17 lg/cm2) and made into polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs). According to the current densityvoltageluminancecharacteristics and electroluminescence (EL) spectra, the enhancement factors for currentefficiency and EL intensity for AgND-containing PLEDs were found to be higher than those for PLEDwith TAgNPs by 24.9% and 138%, respectively. This shows that the metal nanoparticles with higher lightscatteringproperty can induce a relatively strong LSPR effect, which possibly gives a hint to design plasmonicphotovoltaic in future.

A Single-Stage LED Tube Lamp Driver with Input-Current Shaping for Energy-Efficient Indoor Lighting Applications

        Cheng, Chun-An,Chang, Chien-Hsuan,Cheng, Hung-Liang,Chung, Tsung-Yuan,Tseng, Ching-Hsien,Tseng, Kuo-Ching The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.4

This study proposes a single-stage light-emitting diode (LED) tube lamp driver with input-current shaping for T8/T10-type fluorescent lamp replacements. The proposed AC-DC LED driver integrates a dual-boost converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge series-resonant converter with a bridge rectifier into a single-stage power conversion topology. This paper presents the operational principles and design considerations for one T8-type 18 W-rated LED tube lamp with line input voltages ranging from 100 V rms to 120 V rms. Experimental results for the prototype driver show that the highest power factor (PF = 0.988), lowest input current total harmonic distortion (THD = 7.22%), and highest circuit efficiency (η = 92.42%) are obtained at an input voltage of 120 V. Hence, the proposed driver is feasible for use in energy-efficient indoor lighting applications.

      • A Novel Single-Stage LED Driver with Coupled Inductors and Interleaved PFC

        Chun-An Cheng,Chien-Hsuan Chang,Hung-Liang Cheng,Ching-Hsien Tseng 전력전자학회 2015 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2015 No.6

This paper proposes a novel single-stage lightemitting diode (LED) driver with coupled inductors and interleaved power-factor correction (PFC), suitable for streetlight applications. The presented LED driver integrates an interleaved boost PFC converter with coupled inductors and a half-bridge-type series-resonant converter cascaded with a full-bridge rectifier into a single-stage power-conversion circuit. Coupled inductors inside the interleaved boost PFC converter sub-circuit are designed to operate in discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) for achieving input-current shaping, and the half-bridge-type series-resonant converter cascaded with a full-bridge rectifier is designed for obtaining zero-voltage switching (ZVS) on two power switches to reduce their switching losses. Analysis of operational modes and design equations for the presented LED driver are described and included. In addition, the proposed driver features high power factor, low total-harmonic distortion (THD) of input current and soft-switching. Finally, a prototype 165W-rated LED driver is developed and tested with a utility-line input voltage of 110V. Satisfactory outcomes from experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed circuit.

Inverse Analysis of Inconel 718 Laser-Assisted Milling to Achieve Machined Surface Roughness

        Yixuan Feng,Tsung-Pin Hung,Yu-Ting Lu,Yu-Fu Lin,Fu-Chuan Hsu,Chiu-Feng Lin,Ying-Cheng Lu,Xiaohong Lu,Steven Y. Liang 한국정밀공학회 2018 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.19 No.11

This manuscript proposes an inverse analysis method for the machined surface roughness in laser-assisted milling on Inconel 718. The method solves the forward problem considering the tool profile and the elastic recovery of machined surface and applies the variance-based recursive method to guide the updating mechanism of process parameters to match the measurements. Subsequently, the inverse analysis identifies four process parameters of feed per tooth, tool tip radius, minimum cutting thickness, and tool tip angle, and finds the optimal solution for target performance, the surface roughness. The measurements are collected under the single beam coaxial laser-assisted milling spindle. The proposed modified Kalman filter algorithm introduces the gain coefficient G when updating the process parameters to improve robustness and accuracy. The inverse analysis is conducted on all measurements, and the average error of target performance is 0.460% when the laser is on and 0.394% when the laser is off. The average difference of process parameters is less than 5%, and the selection process is done in 50 loops within a minute. Therefore, the proposed inverse analysis model is robust, adaptive to different initial guesses and measurements, highly accurate, and saves computation time.

On eBay's Fee Structure from a Channel Coordination Perspective

        Chen, Jen-Ming,Cheng, Hung-Liang,Chien, Mei-Chen Korean Institute of Industrial Engineers 2010 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.9 No.2

Can eBay.com's fee structure coordinate the channel? It's a critical strategic problem in e-commerce operations and an interesting research hypothesis as well. eBay's fees include three parts: monthly subscription fee, insertion fee, and final value fee (i.e., a revenue sharing portion), which represent a generic form of revenue sharing fee structure between the retailer and the vendor in a supply chain. This research deals with such a channel consisting of a price-setting vendor who sells products through eBay's marketplace exclusively to the end customers. The up- and down-stream channel relationship is consignment-based revenue sharing. We use a game-theoretic approach with assumption of the retailer (i.e., eBay.com) being a Stackelberg-leader and the vendor being a follower. The Stackelberg-leader decides on the terms of revenue sharing contract (i.e., fee structure), and the follower (vendor) decides on how many units to sell and the items' selling price. This study formulates several profit-maximization models by considering the effects of the retail price on the demand function. Under such settings, we show that eBay's fee structure can improve the channel efficiency; yet it cannot coordinate the channel optimally.

Radiological gastrostomy: A comparative analysis of different image-guided methods

        Hong-Tao Hu,Hang Yuan,Chen-Yang Guo,Quan-Jun Yao,Xiang Geng,Hong-Tao Cheng,Jun-Li Ma,Yan Zhao,Li Jiang,Yu-Qing Zhao,Hai-Liang Li 소화기인터벤션의학회 2021 International journal of gastrointestinal interven Vol.10 No.2

Background: Radiographic guided percutaneous gastrostomy has become a safe and effective enteral nutrition method for patients who can not eat by mouth. Fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT) and cone-beam CT have been routinely used clinically. The aim of this study was to compare the advantages and disadvantages of percutaneous gastrostomy using different radiographic guided methods. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 538 patients undergoing percutaneous gastrostomy in our department. According to the image guidance method used in gastrostomy, the patients were divided into groups A by fluoroscopy guidance, group B by fluoroscopy combined with C-arm CT guidance, and group C with the whole process CT guidance. The gastrostomy success rate, complication rate, procedure time, and patient radiation dose were analyzed in the three groups. Results: Among 538 patients, 534 were successful and the success rates are 94.3%, 99.3%, and 100% in group A, B, and C, respectively (P > 0.05). There were 3 cases occurred postoperative bleeding as serious adverse events and transferred to surgical gastrostomy. The minor complications include local infection, hyperplasia of granulation tissue, tube obstruction or prolapse, and local pain of the ostomy. The minor complication rates were 10.5%, 10.4%, and 7.7% in group A, B, and C, respectively (P > 0.05). The average procedure time was 25.57 ± 5.99 minutes, 29.01 ± 6.63 minutes, and 45.47 ± 8.98 minutes, respectively (χ2 = 87.98, P < 0.001). The average radiation dosage was 27.30 ± 19.27 mGy, 145.07 ± 106.08 mGy, and 2,590.26 ± 1,088.22 mGy, respectively (χ2 = 204.44, P < 0.001). Conclusion: There were no significant differences in the success rates and complication rates of gastrostomy under the three guiding methods. For difficult cases, CT-guided gastrostomy may be a very useful supplemental method.
