      • β3GnT8 Regulates Laryngeal Carcinoma Cell Proliferation Via Targeting MMPs/TIMPs and TGF-β1

        Previous evidence showed ${\beta}1$, 3-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase 8 (${\beta}3GnT8$), which can extend polylactosamine on N-glycans, to be highly expressed in some cancer cell lines and tissues, indicating roles in tumorigenesis. However, so far, the function of ${\beta}3GnT8$ in laryngeal carcinoma has not been characterized. To test any contribution, Hep-2 cells were stably transfected with sense or interference vectors to establish cell lines that overexpressed or were deficient in ${\beta}3GnT8$. Here we showed that cell proliferation was increased in ${\beta}3GnT8$ overexpressed cells but decreased in ${\beta}3GnT8$ knockdown cells using MTT. Furthermore, we demonstrated that change in ${\beta}3GnT8$ expression had significant effects on tumor growth in nude mice.We further provided data suggesting that overexpression of ${\beta}3GnT8$ enhanced the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) at both the mRNA and protein levels, associated with shedding of tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase TIMP-2. In addition, it caused increased production of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-${\beta}1$), whereas ${\beta}3GnT8$ gene knockdown caused the reverse effect. The results may indicate a novel mechanism by which effects of ${\beta}3GnT8$ in regulating cellular proliferation are mediated, at least in partvia targeting MMPs/TIMPs and TGF-${\beta}1$ in laryngeal carcinoma Hep-2 cells. The finding may lay a foundation for further investigations into the ${\beta}3GnT8$ as a potential target for therapy of laryngeal carcinoma.

        Improved Bioethanol Production from Corn Stover by Alkali Pretreatment with a Novel Pilot-scale Continuous Microwave Irradiation Reactor

        A novel continuous microwave irradiation(MWI) pilot-scale reactor was designed specifically forbiomass pretreatment. To test the efficiency of this reactor,MWI-assisted alkali pretreatment of corn straw (CS) wasinvestigated using a central composite design for theresponse surface methodology. With a processing capacityof 0.28 kg CS (dry matter, DM)/h, the optimal conditionswere as follows: 4.50 kW, 30 min, and 3.50% NaOH (w/v). The glucose and ethanol production from the pretreated CSwere 63.22 and 31.29 g/100 g DM, respectively. Thesevalues were 4.42 and 3.79 times higher, respectively, thanthose from untreated CS. Structural changes in theuntreated/pretreated CS were identified by analyzing itschemical composition using X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transforminfrared spectroscopy (FTIR). In addition, the solid residuerecovery ratio was demonstrated to be an indicator of thebiomass bioconversion potential.

      • Design of the State Monitoring System of Power Cable Outer Sheath Based on the DigiMeshi Network

        With the development of power grid intellectualization, real-time state monitoring of power cable outer sheath is becoming more and more important. Monitoring and test of the cable outer sheath currently being used are time consuming and inflexible. To this point, a DigiMesh network based wireless monitoring solution is proposed in this article. The sensor node is mainly composed of main control chip Msp430F169 and XTend module based on DigiMesh network. It is being used to receive, store and transmit the collected data and information, and pass back the outer sheath state monitoring data through multiple hop transmission. During this process, the multi-channel and multi-data source parallel transmission mechanism is applied to reduce the route hop number and lower the network load. The proposed solution was experimental simulated, which proved to be practical and had a good real-time performance. This solution is also applicable to state monitoring of cable outer sheath in areas which are not covered by telecom signals, and it is helpful to discover and handle the cable line fault and reduce safety hazards.

        Numerical simulation of temperature field and stress field in fused deposition modeling

        Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is a rapid prototyping technology developed quickly in recent years. However, the precision of forming part is a key factor to limit the development of fused deposition modeling. This paper established numerical model of temperature filed and stress filed for the forming process of fused deposition modeling by finite element modeling method and “birth-death element” technique. From the analysis of temperature gradient cloud picture, the result indicates that the temperature distributions are uneven along both X and Y directions, but the temperature distribution is uniform along Z direction. From the analysis of stress field for forming parts, the result can be found that deformation is focused on the plane XOY and no obvious stress concentration is observed on the plane XOZ and YOZ. Based on the comparison of temperature fields for four different scanning filling paths (honeycomb, grid, wiggle, rectilinear), the results show that the smallest temperature gradient is found for honeycomb scanning filling path. Based on the comparison of stress fields for four different scanning filling paths, the results show that the most uniform stress distribution and the smallest deformation is honeycomb scanning filling path which can provide guiding significance for actual processing.

        Fabrication of graphene‑assisted voltammetry platform for the detection of nitrate ions in PM2.5

        This study presents the fabrication and application of a graphene-assisted voltammetry platform for the sensitive detection of nitrate ions in PM2.5 (atmospheric aerosols with a maximum diameter of 2.5 μm). The MoS2/ reduced graphene oxide/ glassy carbon electrode ( MoS2/rGO/GCE) was prepared using a simple and efficient electrochemical deposition method. The rationale behind selecting MoS2/ rGO stems from their individual properties that, when combined, can enhance the electrode’s performance. MoS2 offers excellent electro-catalytic activity and selectivity for nitrate ion detection, while rGO provides high conductivity and a large surface area for enhanced sensitivity. The electrochemical performance of MoS2/ rGO/GCE was investigated and compared with MoS2/ GCE and bare GCE using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results demonstrated that MoS2/ rGO/GCE exhibited enhanced electro-catalytic activity, high conductivity, and improved selectivity for nitrate ion detection. The optimal pH value for detecting nitrate ions was determined to be 8.0. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was employed to investigate the linear range and detection limit of nitrate ions on MoS2/ rGO/GCE, resulting in a linear range from 1 to 300 μM and a detection limit of 0.35 μM. The reproducibility and the stability of MoS2/ rGO/GCE were assessed, showing satisfactory performance. Real sample analysis from Chengdu City showed a strong correlation between the results obtained using MoS2/ rGO/GCE and ion chromatography, highlighting its potential application in monitoring nitrate ions in PM2.5. The findings of this study contribute to the development of a graphene-assisted voltammetry platform for sensitive nitrate ion detection in PM2.5, offering potential benefits for real-time air pollution monitoring and environmental health assessments.

      • Color Adjustment Based on Support Vector Regression for Multi-View Video

        Significant color discrepancies between the different camera views can be observed in multi-view video sequences. In this paper, a color adjustment algorithm based on support vector regression is proposed. A mapping function is established by extracted feature points from original-image and target-image. Then the mapping function is applied to the original image to obtain the corrected image. Experimental results show that the proposed method can produce good correction result. It also shows that the color differences between multi-view video can be effectively reduced by SVR.

        Two-Dimensional Shear Wave Elastography Predicts Liver Fibrosis in Jaundiced Infants with Suspected Biliary Atresia: A Prospective Study

        Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the role of preoperative two-dimensional (2D) shear wave elastography (SWE) in assessing the stages of liver fibrosis in patients with suspected biliary atresia (BA) and compared its diagnostic performance with those of serum fibrosis biomarkers. Materials and Methods: This study was approved by the ethical committee, and written informed parental consent was obtained. Two hundred and sixteen patients were prospectively enrolled between January 2012 and October 2018. The 2D SWE measurements of 69 patients have been previously reported. 2D SWE measurements, serum fibrosis biomarkers, including fibrotic markers and biochemical test results, and liver histology parameters were obtained. 2D SWE values, serum biomarkers including, aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRi), and other serum fibrotic markers were correlated with the stages of liver fibrosis by METAVIR. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and area under the ROC (AUROC) curve analyses were used. Results: The correlation coefficient of 2D SWE value in correlation with the stages of liver fibrosis was 0.789 (p < 0.001). The cut-off values of 2D SWE were calculated as 9.1 kPa for F1, 11.6 kPa for F2, 13.0 kPa for F3, and 15.7 kPa for F4. The AUROCs of 2D SWE in the determination of the stages of liver fibrosis ranged from 0.869 to 0.941. The sensitivity and negative predictive value of 2D SWE in the diagnosis of ≥ F3 was 93.4% and 96.0%, respectively. The diagnostic performance of 2D SWE was superior to that of APRi and other serum fibrotic markers in predicting severe fibrosis and cirrhosis (all p < 0.005) and other serum biomarkers. Multivariate analysis showed that the 2D SWE value was the only statistically significant parameter for predicting liver fibrosis. Conclusion: 2D SWE is a more effective non-invasive tool for predicting the stage of liver fibrosis in patients with suspected BA, compared with serum fibrosis biomarkers.

        Effect of Angiotensin II Type I Receptor A1166C Polymorphism on Benazepril Action in Hypertensive Patients: A Family-based Association Test Study

        Background: Few studies have examined the effect of the angiotensin II type I receptor (AT1R) A1166C polymorphism on the antihypertensive effect of the angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor benazepril in patients with hypertension, and no such studies have performed analysis using the Family-Based Association Test (FBAT), The aim of our study was to examine the association between AT1R A1166C gene polymorphism and the antihypertensive effect of benazepril using the FBAT. Methods and Results: A total of 864 patients (aged, 26-62 years) with essential hypertension were identified in an epidemiological survey and enrolled in this study. Blood pressure (BP) was measured before and after 16 days of treatment with benazepril (10 mg/day). The association between the A1166C gene polymorphism and the antihypertensive effect of benazepril was assessed by FBAT. The frequencies of alleles A and C were 95.1% and 4.9%, respectively. FBAT analysis revealed that the C allele was significantly associated with high baseline diastolic BP (Z = 2.041, p = 0.041), decreased systolic BP after treatment (Z = 2.549, p = 0.011), and decreased diastolic BP after treatment (Z = 2.320, p = 0.020). Conclusion: Our results, determined using the FBAT, are the first evidence that the AT1R A1166C polymorphism may increase the antihypertensive effect of benazepril in patients with hypertension.

        Efficient Cycloaddition Reaction of Carbon Dioxide with Epoxide by Rhodamine Based Catalyst Under 1 atm Pressure

        Rhodamine B (RhB) and rhodamine 6G (Rh6G) were employed as catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonate from carbon dioxide and epoxide. It turned out that the catalytic activity of Rh6G was nearly 29 times higher than that of RhB at 1 atm pressure, 90 oC. Furthermore, the catalytic efficiency of RhB and Rh6G was greatly enhanced with triethylamine as co-catalyst. Under the optimized conditions, the best isolated yield (93%) of cyclic carbonate was achieved without organic solvent and metal component.
