        <P>A π-conjugated polyazine containing diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) moiety, PDBTAZ, is synthesized through a simple condensation polymerization. PDBTAZ is found to be a high-performance ambipolar semiconductor in organic thin film transistors (OTFTs), showing an electron mobility of up to 0.41 cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP> and a hole mobility of up to 0.36 cm<SUP>2</SUP> V<SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP>.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>A π-conjugated polyazine containing diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) moiety shows high-performance in ambipolar organic thin film transistors. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c2cc33998f'> </P>

        EMRQ: An Efficient Multi-keyword Range Query Scheme in Smart Grid Auction Market

        With the increasing electricity consumption and the wide application of renewable energy sources, energy auction attracts a lot of attention due to its economic benefits. Many schemes have been proposed to support energy auction in smart grid. However, few of them can achieve range query, ranked search and personalized search. In this paper, we propose an efficient multi-keyword range query (EMRQ) scheme, which can support range query, ranked search and personalized search simultaneously. Based on the homomorphic Paillier cryptosystem, we use two super-increasing sequences to aggregate multidimensional keywords. The first one is used to aggregate one buyer`s or seller`s multidimensional keywords to an aggregated number. The second one is used to create a summary number by aggregating the aggregated numbers of all sellers. As a result, the comparison between the keywords of all sellers and those of one buyer can be achieved with only one calculation. Security analysis demonstrates that EMRQ can achieve confidentiality of keywords, authentication, data integrity and query privacy. Extensive experiments show that EMRQ is more efficient compared with the scheme in [3] in terms of computation and communication overhead.

      • B-spline Surface Blending by the Semi-structured B-spline

        Surface blending is a useful operation in geometric design for rounding sharp edge or corner. Meanwhile, NURBS has already become the de facto industrial standard in existing CAD/CAM systems. Therefore, it is required to study how to blend two B-spline surfaces. However, two arbitrary B-spline surfaces (called base surfaces) are hard to be blended with a B-spline surface (called blending surface) because the knot vectors of the two base surfaces are usually mismatched. In this paper, we propose a curve-based spline representation, i.e., the semi-structured B-spline surface, which is generated by skinning a series of B-spline curves with different knot vectors. By assigning suitable knot vectors to the head and tail skinned curves, the semi-structured B-spline surface can blend two B-spline surfaces smoothly without disturbing them at all. We formulate the B-spline surface blending problem as an optimization problem with continuity constraints, and the continuity between the base and blending surfaces can reach G<SUP>2</SUP> or C<SUP>2</SUP>. Examples illustrated in this paper validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our method.

Littlemore (2015) claims that metonymy can perform a wide range of communicative functions in different forms and modes of expressions. This paper examines the visual metonymies observed in Green Book, the 2019 Best Picture Oscar Academy Award-winner, elucidating how the movie integrates its narrative with visual metonymy to express abstract and profound themes. Exploring various types of visual metonymy utilized in this movie, this paper reveals how the visual metonymy contributes to the communication effect of a movie. The paper also demonstrates that analysis of visual metonymy in movies enriches the current research on both visual metonymy and movie studies.

        Vibration mitigation of stay cable using optimally tuned MR damper

        Mechanical dampers have been proved to be one of the most effective countermeasures for vibration mitigation of stay cables in various cable-stayed bridges over the world. However, for long stay cables, as the installation height of the damper is restricted due to the aesthetic concern, using passive dampers alone may not satisfy the control requirement of the stay cables. In this connection, semi-active MR dampers have been proposed for the vibration mitigation of long stay cables. Although various studies have been carried out on the implementation of MR dampers on stay cables, the optimal damping performance of the cable-MR damper system has yet to be evaluated. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of MR damper as a semi-active control device for the vibration mitigation of stay cable. The mathematical model of the MR damper will first be established through a performance test. Then, an efficient semi-active control strategy will be derived, where the damping of MR damper will be tuned according to the dynamic characteristics of stay cable, in order to achieve optimal damping of cable-damper system. Simulation study will be carried out to verify the proposed semi-active control algorithm for suppressing the cable vibrations induced by different loading patterns using optimally tuned MR damper. Finally, the effectiveness of MR damper in mitigating multi modes of cable vibration will be examined theoretically

        Synthesis of Novel Hollow Copper Oxide Micro-Flowers Assembled by Nanoparticles and Their Improved Catalytic Performances for the Synthesis of Organosilane

        In this work, novel sisal-like hollow CuO micro-flowers were synthesized via a facile solvothermal reaction followed by calcination. The flower-like shells of hollow CuO are constructed by irregular petals interweaving each other, which are composed of aggregated nanoparticles with sizes of ca. 18 nm. It was found that the flower-like morphology of the as-synthesized CuO products can be controlled via finely tuning the solvothermal reaction time. When used as catalysts for the synthesis of organosilane, the obtained hollow CuO micro-flowers exhibit better catalytic performances than the commercial CuO powders. Superior catalytic performances are due to the hollow and flower-like structures of the as-synthesized CuO products, which can promote the synthetic reaction for the organosilane, that is, the gas–solid contacting reaction occurred among the reaction gas, solid silicon powders and CuO catalysts. Our work will be helpful to design and develop the novel Cu-based nanocatalysts for the synthesis of organosilane.

        The Specific Case Analysis of Biomineralization Induced by Sulfate Reducing Bacteria

        The effects of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) on the corrosion and scaling of the Q235 carbon steel has been investigated in the simulated sewage water and oil field gathering pipelines production water, using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS), and three-dimensional stereoscopic microscope. Results indicated that the concentration of SRB reached the maximum value on the ninth day in simulated sewage water with a large amount of scaling on the surface of specimen. In oil field gathering pipelines, a large amount of scaling and mineralization of mineral salts and thick deposition of extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) layers were also observed on the surface of specimen. The thickness of biofilm was about 245 μm within 30 days. After adding microbicides, the thickness of corrosion products film was only up to 48 - 106 μm within 30 days, suggesting that SRB could induce biomineralization. Under-deposit corrosion morphology was uniform in the absence of microbicides while local corrosion was observed in the presence of microbicides.

        In this paper, three-dimensional (3D) Co3O4 °ower-like microspheres have been successfully synthesized via a facile ethylene glycol (EG)-mediated solvothermal method followed by calcination. The as-prepared °ower-like precursors microspheres are formed from the assembly of 2D nanosheets in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The °ower-like architectures of the prepared precursors could be tailored by changing the amount of CTAB. Furthermore, when evaluated as a gas sensor, the obtained Co3O4 °ower-like microspheres exhibit a good response and sensitivity toward ethanol gas, suggesting their promising potential for gas sensors application.

        Parametric identification of a cable-stayed bridge using least square estimation with substructure approach

        Parametric identification of structures is one of the important aspects of structural health monitoring. Most of the techniques available in the literature have been proved to be effective for structures with small degree of freedoms. However, the problem becomes challenging when the structure system is large, such as bridge structures. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop parametric identification methods that are applicable to complex structures. In this paper, the LSE based techniques will be combined with the substructure approach for identifying the parameters of a cable-stayed bridge with large degree of freedoms. Numerical analysis has been carried out for substructures extracted from the 2-dimentional (2D) finite element model of a cable-stayed bridge. Only vertical white noise excitations are applied to the structure, and two different cases are considered where the structural damping is not included or included. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach is capable of identifying the structural parameters with high accuracy without measurement noises.
