        Análisis Pragmático y Lingüístico de los Comentarios en la Prensa Digital

        This work aims to describe pragmatic strategies and linguistic features of replies that occur in the comment section of online newspapers. The dominant media in this digital age is the Internet and its rapid development and expansion of use have contributed not only to the change of the form of production of journalistic texts, but also to the consumption of those texts. In the past, the news was transmitted in a unidirectional way but now readers of online newspapers do not remain passively reading the articles. They actively participate in the exchange of opinions with other readers. The individual consumption of journalistic texts has become a collective and social act. The purpose of the study is to investigate the communication intention of the users of comment sections and analyze the linguistic formulation of replies. We attempt to discover specific aspects of replies and responses for online newspaper articles, considering them as an independent type of Computer Mediated Communication (Internet Mediated Communication). Observing language attitudes appearing in the electronic environment and discovering the characteristics of the Spanish language on the Internet will allow us to contribute to understand the theoretical aspects related to the CMO better.

        Diverse Ischemic Postconditioning Protocols Affect the Infarction Size in Focal Ischemic Stroke

        Objective : Ischemic postconditioning (IPostC), consisted of transient brain ischemia/reperfusion cycles, is considered to have neuroprotective effect. However, there is no best single protocol of IPostC, because varied factors like species tested and characteristics of the tissue may affect the efficacy of IPostC. Thus, we investgated whether different protocols of IPostC affect neuroprotective effects in experimental animal models. Materials and Methods : Through occlusion of middle cerebral artery (MCA) with intraluminal suture, stroke was induced in a transient focal ischemia model in mice. We conducted IPostC via brief and repeated MCA occlusion, 2 minutes after reperfusion, followed by different ischemia and reperfusion protocols. After procedure, functional neurological score and histological examination were evaluated. Results : IPostC with different protocols resulted in diverse effects. Among them, a protocol that consists of 3 cycle of IPostC significantly reduced the infarction size 3 days after stroke. Conclusion : IPostC was confirmed to reduce infarction size. The effects of IPostC are definitely affected by differences in the protocol used, including the number of cycles, the duration of individual ischemia/reperfusion episode and the entire duration of the IPostC stimuli.

        Antitumor Activities of Spray-dried Powders with Different Molecular Masses Fractionated from the Crude Protein-bound Polysaccharide Extract of Agaricus blazei Murill

        In this study, we first prepared 3 kinds of powders with different molecular masses from the crude protein-bound polysaccharide extract of Agraricus blazei Murill through ultrafiltration, followed by spray-drying. Then, the antitumor activities of the powders were analyzed. Size exclusion chromatography coupled with a multi-angle laser-light-scattering system showed the 3 powders had the following molecular ranges: below 10 kDa (SD-1), 10 to 150 kDa (SD-2), and above 150 kDa (SD-3), representing peak molecular weights of $8.26{\times}10^3,\;9.65{\times}10^4$, and $5.94{\times}10^6\;g/mol$, respectively. All the powders stimulated macrophage RAW264.7 cells to produce nitric oxide, of which SD-2 and SD-3 were superior to the crude extract powder (CP-SD), while SD-1 showed the lowest activity. Similar results were found for their cytotoxicities against human cancer cell lines (A549, MCF-7, and AGS), where the highest activity was obtained with the SD-2 treatment for 72 hr at $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$. The MCF-7 cell line was less sensitive to the powders than the other cells. From this research we found that ultrafiltration, in combination with spray-drying, is applicable for preparing protein-bound polysaccharide powders with higher antitumor activities.

        ORIGINAL ARTICLE : Interatrial septal thickness as a marker of structural and functional remodeling of the Left atrium in patients with atrial fibrillation

        Background/Aims: There have been reports that interatrial septal (IAS) thickness is increased in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). This study was performed to investigate whether IAS thickness determined by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) represents the amount of left atrium (LA) structural and functional remodeling. Methods: The study population consisted of 104 consecutive patients who underwent catheter ablation (CA) for AF (paroxysmal atrial fibrillation [PAF], 82; persistent atrial fibrillation [PeAF], 22). IAS thickness and left atrium volume (LAV) using TTE, and LA voltage (LAVOL) using 3-dimensional electroanatomical mapping system were assessed during sinus rhythm. Results: IAS thickness was significantly correlated with maximal LAV (LAVmax) (r = 0.288, p = 0.003), mean LAVOL (r = -0.537, p < 0.001), total left atrium emptying fraction (LAEFtotal; r = -0.213, p = 0.030), and active LAEF (LAEFactive; r = -0.249, p = 0.014). IAS thickness was greater in the high-risk group (≥ 2) compared to other groups according to CHA2DS2-VASc score (p = 0.019). During a follow-up of 19.6 months, 23 subjects (22.1%; PAF, 17; PeAF, 6) had recurrence of arrhythmia. Univariate analysis showed that LAVmax, minimal LAV, mean LAVOL, LVEFtotal, LVEFactive, and IAS thickness were associated with recurrence of arrhythmia. However, on multivariate analysis, only mean LAVOL and LAEFactive were independent risk factors for recurrence. Conclusions: Although IAS thickness showed significant correlations with parameters for LA structural and functional remodeling, this parameter alone could not independently predict recurrence of arrhythmia after CA for AF.

        Long Term Results of Microsurgical Dorsal Root Entry Zonotomy for Upper Extremity Spasticity

        Objective : The purpose of the present study is to assess the long-term results of microsurgical dorsal root entry zonotomy (MDT) for the treatment of medically intractable upper-extremity spasticity. Methods : The records of nine adult patients who underwent MDT by one operating neurosurgeon from March 1999 to June 2004 were retrospectively reviewed by another investigator who had no role in the management of these patients. In all patients, MDT was performed on all roots of the upper limb (from C5 to T1) for spasticity of the upper extremity. The degree of spasticity was measured by the Modified Ashworth Scale (grade 0-4). Severity of the pain level was determined using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS, score 0-10). Also, patient satisfaction of the post-operative outcome was assessed. Results : Comparing the preoperative and postoperative spasticity using the Modified Ashworth Scale, we observed improvement in all patients, particularly in five of the nine patients (55.6%) who improved by three grades over an average of 66.4 months (range, 40-96). Regarding patient satisfaction, seven patients (77.8%) had affirmative results. None of the patients experienced severe, life-threatening, postoperative complications. We observed a decrease in the intensity of painful spasms to less than three scores as measured by NRS in all four patients with associated pain. Conclusion : This study shows that MDT provides significant, long-term reduction of harmful spasticity and associated pain in the upper limbs.

        Dostoevsky의 거작 The brother Karamazov의 가장 핵심적 주제는 기독교적 이상을 표상하고 있는 Alyosha와 The Elder Zossima그리고 그 이상 을 거부하는 Ivan과 The Grand Inguisitor사이에서 파생되는 갈등이다. 즉 자신이 평생을 통해 탐구한 문제들-신과 인간과의 관계, 인간의 자유의지와 그에 수반되는 책임, 인간의 영적 구원의 가능성등-이 이 두 대별되는 인물들 사이의 충돌에 의해 표출되는 것이다. Ivan은 Grand Inguistor를 통해 예수를 공박한다. 예수는 세 가지 유혹을 거부함으로서 인간의 힘으로는 도저히 짊어질 수 없을 만큼 힘겨운 자유라는 짐만을 남겼다는 것이다. 인간은 예수의 판단만큼 고결한 존재가 아니므로, 인간에게 보다 절실한 것은 "freedom"이 아닌 "miracle," "mystery" "authority"라는 것이다. The Grand Insguator의 이러한 주장은 인간이 근본적으로 나약하며 해악하고 동시에 반항적이라는 부정적 견해에 근거하는데,만약 우리가 그의 생각에 동조한다면 인간의 선택권은 단 두 가지로 집약될 수밖에 없다. 즉 자유를 유보한 채 누릴 수 있는 행복을 선택하든지 아니면 자유를 누리되 그것으로 파생되는 지옥에서의 생활을 선택하는 길 뿐인 것이다. Ivan은 무신론적 이성주의자로서 심각한 정신적 갈등과 고통을 경험한다. 그는 그의 존재에 대한 증거로서 신의 정의를 요구하나 그가 이성으로 이해 할 수 있는 이 세상은 부조리와 악의 고통만이 산재해 있는 것이다. Ivan의 심리적 갈등과 고뇌는 신의 존재와 그의 정의에 회의를 지닌 모든 인간의 내면적 고통을 대변하는 것이다. 작품의 끝에서 Alyosha는 기독교적 이상을 표장하는 하나의 희망적 가능성으로 남아 있으나, 그의 characterization은 미완성의 미진한 감을 남기는 것이 사실이다. 더우기 Zossima의 가르침이 과연 수도원 밖에서도 어느 정도까지 성취될 수 있는가 하는 것이 여전히 미지수로 남는 것이다.

        Characterization and fabrication of polyvinylsilazane glass microfluidic channels via soft lithographic technique

        The microfabrication of ceramic materials with thermal, chemical, and tribological stability has created inevitable demands for devices in theelds of micro total analysis systems (m-TAS) and MEMS (Microelectromechanical systems). This study reports the preparation of nano-sizedpatterns and microuidic channels using a soft lithographic technique, followed by the UV and thermal curation of SiCN preceramic polymer,temperature than 6008C. It is believed that the fabrication of microchannels using cured inorganic polymers has enormous potential in the eld ofmicrouidics, where materials with high optical transparency, thermal stability and chemical inertness are in demand.# 2007 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.
