YVO4:Dy3+ phosphor powders were synthesized by using the hydrothermal method under differentpH conditions. The crystallization, surface morphology, lattice vibration, optical properties,luminescent mechanism and influencing factors of the obtained YVO4:Dy3+ phosphor powders werecarefully studied and analyzed in detail. All of the YVO4:Dy3+ phosphor powders had tetragonalstructures, and the pH value had a significant impact on the surface morphology, structure andoptical properties of the synthesized samples. Strong acidic and alkali environments were favorablefor the crystallization of YVO4:Dy3+phosphor powders, and the YVO4:Dy3+ phosphor powderssynthesized under strong alkali environments had the best luminescent properties.

This paper presents a fuzzy normal estimate for mass point clouds of irregular models in reconstruction. The irregular model is complex object that some part is smooth and some parts are irregular including sharp features. Therefore, we put kNN and curvature of mass point clouds to fuzzy inference system to divide the kind of point clouds and the output of FIS can determine which part of tooth point clouds belong to. For different kinds point clouds, corresponding algorithm is given. Point clouds in the smooth area are estimated normal by PCA directly and ones in other regions of thin or sharp area are estimated by checker and attach points. This method is simpler than those complex methods used on the whole point clouds directly. The experiment results show that much time is saved and surface reconstruction is very fine than PCA and WLOP.
Analysis of Key Genes and Pathways Associated with Colorectal Cancer with Microarray Technology

Objective: Microarray data were analyzed to explore key genes and their functions in progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). Methods: Two microarray data sets were downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using corresponding packages of R. Functional enrichment analysis was performed with DAVID tools to uncover their biological functions. Results: 631 and 590 DEGs were obtained from the two data sets, respectively. A total of 32 common DEGs were then screened out with the rank product method. The significantly enriched GO terms included inflammatory response, response to wounding and response to drugs. Two interleukin-related domains were revealed in the domain analysis. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that the PPAR signaling pathway and the renin-angiotensin system were enriched in the DEGs. Conclusions: Our study to systemically characterize gene expression changes in CRC with microarray technology revealed changes in a range of key genes, pathways and function modules. Their utility in diagnosis and treatment now require exploration.
Annual Financial Impact of Thyroidectomies for Nodular Thyroid Disease in China

A large proportion of patients with thyroid nodules in China undergo thyroidectomy in order to get confirmatory histology diagnosis. The financial impact of this modality remains to be investigated. To evaluate rationality of performing thyroidectomy without a routine FNA preoperatively from the economic perspective, we conducted a retrospective, observational study of all archival thyroidectomies with records of cost per stay (CPS), cost per day (CPD) and length of stay (LOS) from 2008 to 2013 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. We compared all the parameters between cancer and non-cancer thyroidectomies. We recruited 6, 140 thyroidectomies with valid records of CPS, CPD and LOS in this period. The CPS of cancer thyroidectomy was significantly higher than non-cancer thyroidectomy. The percentage of cancer thyroidectomy increased from 26.5% to 41.6%. The percentage of annual cost of cancer thyroidectomies rose from 30.2% to 45.2%. The LOS for cancer and non-cancer thyroidectomy decreased while the CPD increased in the past six years. The estimated national cost in 2012 for all thyroidectomies would be USD 1.86 billion with USD 1.09 billion for non-cancer thyroidectomies. We have witnessed great improvement in the healthcare for patients with thyroid nodules in China. However, given limited healthcare resources, currently thyroid FNA for more precise preoperative diagnosis may help to curb the rapidly increasing demand in healthcare costs in the future for nodular thyroid disease in China.
Cytotoxic Macrocyclic Diterpenoids from Euphorbia helioscopia

A new cytotoxic macrocyclic diterpenoid, euphornin L (1), together with seven known analogues were isolated from the plant Euphorbia helioscopia L. The structure of 1 was elucidated by spectral data and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Euphornin L (1) and euphoscopin F (2) exhibited significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cell lines with IC50 values of 2.7 and 9.0 μM, respectively. The 13C-NMR data of euphoscopin F (2), epieuphoscopin B (3), euphoscopin B (5), and euphoscopin C (6) were also reported for the first time.
Application of artificial neural network for the critical flow prediction of discharge nozzle

System thermal-hydraulic (STH) code is adopted for nuclear safety analysis. The critical flow model(CFM) is significant for the accuracy of STH simulation. To overcome the defects of current CFMs (lowprecision or long calculation time), a CFM based on a genetic neural network (GNN) has been developedin this work. To build a powerful model, besides the critical mass flux, the critical pressure and criticalquality were also considered in this model, which was seldom considered before. Comparing with thetraditional homogeneous equilibrium model (HEM) and the Moody model, the GNN model can predictthe critical mass flux with a higher accuracy (approximately 80% of results are within the ±20% errorlimit); comparing with the Leung model and the Shannak model for critical pressure prediction, the GNNmodel achieved the best results (more than 80% prediction results within the ±20% error limit). For thecritical quality, similar precision is achieved. The GNN-based CFM in this work is meaningful for the STHcode CFM development
A Parallel Fast Sort Algorithm for Mass 3D Point Clouds of Irregular Model

According to mass point clouds without explicit topology relation, a parallel fast sort algorithm is proposed in this paper. Morton order is introduced and used to merge one-dimensional data. The mass point clouds of irregular model are generated corresponding address code named Morton code and these points are stored in the octree structure chain. And then a parallel fast sort algorithm based on Euclidean distance is used to sort by CPU and GPU. The k-Nearest Neighbors of point can be located in the chain. The experiment results show that much time is saved and k-Nearest Neighbors of point can be searched directly. This algorithm is simpler than those complex sort methods used on the whole point clouds.

A low cost, high performance titania-containing metallurgical slag photocatalysts (TCMSPx, x = H2SO4,HNO3, HCl) were prepared using a hydrothermal method. The prepared TCMSPx were characterized in terms of visual, physical and chemical properties. The photocatalytic activity of the TCMSPx was evaluated via the photodegradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-D) in aqueous solution. The results showed that the characteristics and photocatalytic activity of TCMSPx were strongly affected by acidic solutions used during the acidolysis. TCMSPH2SO4 exhibited better characteristics and higher photocatalytic activity than TCMSPHNO3 and TCMSPHCl. OH radicals from TCMSPH2SO4 were produced under UV, visible and solar light irradiation. The degree of photodegradation of 2,4-D by TCMSPH2SO4 was 80.1%, 50.0% and 61.5% under UV, visible and solar light irradiation respectively. In addition, the removal of chlorine functional group on the 2,4-D benzene ring and the production of intermediates during 2,4-D photodegradation were monitored using ion chromatography, UV–vis spectra and high performance liquid chromatography of 2,4-D before and after photodegradation.
