      • INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES ON FIRE RESEARCH

        In this paper presented are recent international activities on fire research. After a long history of exchanging ideas in individual international groups, the International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS) was founded in 1985 at its first Symposium, and in 1988, it became a registered charity in England and Wales. The primary objectives of the association are encouraging research in the science of preventing and mitigating the adverse effects of fires and of providing a forum for presenting the results such research. In order to implement the objectives, the Association has held a series of Symposia. At the same time, regional activities have been performed to expand the activities of IAFSS into every individual country. The Asia-Oceania Association for Fire Science and Technology (AOAFST) was founded in 1992 at its first Symposium and the First European Regional IAFSS Symposium was held in Zurich in 1995. Extensive activities in fire research have been performed in Asian and Oceanian countries.

        Design and Prototyping Micro Centrifugal Compressor for Ultra Micro Gas Turbine

        In order to investigate the design method for a micro centrifugal compressor, which is the most important component of an ultra micro gas turbine, an impeller having the outer diameter of 20mm was designed, manufactured and tested. The designed rotational speed is 500,000 rpm and the impeller has a fully 3-dimensional shape. The impeller was rotated at 250,000 rpm in the present study. The experimental results of the tested compressor with the vaned and the vaneless diffusers were compared. It was found that the vaned diffuser attained the higher flow rate than the vaneless diffuser at the maximum pressure ratio. In addition the maximum pressure ratio was higher for the diffuser having a larger diffuser divergence angle at the high flow rate. These results were compared with those obtained by the prediction method used at the design stage.

        就職面接自己PRにおける日本語らしい 「自己に対するほめ」教育の重要性 -「性格」に関する「自己に対するほめ」を中心に-

        This research has as its objective providing educational materials for the Korean speakers to learn the Japanese natural self-expressive approbation by looking at both Korea and Japan’s self-expressive approbation through job interview PR of both. Also, this research is obliged to use interview simulation data for 100 job applicants both from Korea and Japan. Actually, the Japanese education for job interview in Korea is only to correct the Japanese languages nongramatical or too Korean. As the Korean speakers’s employment at Japanese company both in Korea and in Japan has been recently increased, some mistakes can be caused or unbelievable due to expressive difference if the Japanese self-expressive approbation for job interview is not well educated. This expressive difference is remarkable specially in mentioning the character, due to the reason that it is hard to express the strength on the character in a resume. There is both Korean and Japanese character expression inclucing ‘efforts, activity, cooperativity, politeness, coldness and creativity’ in this survey. The data is expected to present the future directionality of self-expressive approbation for job interview by looking at and comparing this item expression more carefully. 本研究の目的は、日本と韓国の就職面接自己PRにあらわれる日韓の「自己に対するほめ」表現に注目し、韓国語話者がより日本語らしい自己に対するほめ表現を学ぶための教育資料を作成することである。また、本研究のデータは就職活動中または就職活動を控えている日韓各100人を実際の就職面接に近い環境で面接したものから収集し、研究資料として使用している。現在韓国での就職面接自己PRの日本語教育は、非文法的または韓国語直訳の不自然な日本語を修正する程度にとどまっている。近年韓国では、韓国国内の日本企業就職だけでなく、日本現地への海外就職が増えており、日本語らしい就職面接自己PR表現の教育がなされない場合、日韓の表現の違いなどから誤解が生じたり、信頼を得られないなどの問題が発生する恐れもある。これらの表現の違いは特に「性格」をアピールする際に現れるが、これは履歴書に性格の長所などを十分に記述することが容易でないためであろう。日本と韓国の自己に対するほめのうち、性格を表わす表現には「努力、積極性、協調性、礼儀、冷静さ、独創力」などがある。本研究ではこれらの項目別表現をさらに詳しく分類し、対照研究することで、就職面接自己PRにおける日本語らしい自己に対するほめ表現教育の方向性を示す資料収集が可能となるだろう。

      • Low-dose Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)-Tyrosine Kinase Inhibition of EGFR Mutation-positive Lung Cancer: Therapeutic Benefits and Associations Between Dosage, Efficacy and Body Surface Area

        A key drug for treatment of EGFR mutation-positive non-small cell lung cancer is epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI). While the dosage of many general anti-tumor drugs is adjusted according to the patient body surface area, one uniform dose of most TKIs is recommended regardless of body size. In many cases, dose reduction or drug cessation is necessary due to adverse effects. Disease control, however, is frequently still effective, even after dose reduction. In this study, we retrospectively reviewed the characteristics of 26 patients at Fukuoka University Hospital between January 2004 and January 2015 in whom the EGFR-TKI dose was reduced with respect to progression free survival and overall survival. There were 10 and 16 patients in the gefitinib group and the erlotinib group, respectively. The median progression-free survival in the gefitinib group and the erlotinib group was 22.4 months and 14.1 months, respectively, and the median overall survival was 30.5 months and 32.4 months, respectively. After stratification of patients by body surface area, the overall median progression-free survival was significantly more prolonged in the low body surface area (<1.45 m2) group (25.6 months) compared to the high body surface area (>1.45 m2) group (9.7 months) (p=0.0131). These results indicate that low-dose EGFR-TKI may sufficiently control disease without side effects in lung cancer patients with a small body size.

      • Highly Precise Geometric Correction of GMS Infrared Images

        In this paper, precise geometric correction of GMS-IR1, which can be received all data about the earth night and day, is proposed. First, at the acquisition of residual errors that is used in the calculation of correct expression, the residual error acquisition processing contained a preparation of highly precise binary images using multi-thresholding and reliability evaluation of residual errors are proposed. As a result of residual error acquisition by the proposed method, in contrast to nighttime data, it's hard to acquire the residual errors in the daytime data. Moreover, between the residual errors of GMS-VIS and GMS-IRl, tendency of the discrepancy that is not theoretical was discovered. So, after checking that discrepancy has caused at every point of GMS images and taking it into consideration, we propose the geometric correction method that residual errors acquired in both images are compensated mutually.

        IMAGING THE CIRCUMSTELLAR ENVELOPES AROUND EVOLVED STARS WITH THE SMA

        We present the high-resolution (2"-4") images of the molecular envelopes surrounding the evolved stars, V Hya, VY CMa, and ${\pi}^1$ Gru observed with the Submillimeter Array. The CO J=2-1 and 3-2 images of the carbon star V Hya show that the circumstellar structure of this star consists of three kinematic components; there is a flattened disk-like envelope that is expanding with a velocity of ${\~}16 km\;s^{-1}$, the second component is the medium-velocity wind having a deprojected velocity of 40-120 km $s^{-l}$ moving along the disk plane, and the third one is the bipolar molecular jet having an extreme velocity of 70-185 km $s^{-l}$. The axis of this high velocity jet is perpendicular to the plane of the disk-like envelope. We found that the circumstellar structure of the S-star ${\pi}^1$ Gru traced by the CO J =2-1 resembles that of V Hya quite closely; the star is surrounded by the expanding disk-like envelope and is driving the medium-velocity wind along the disk plane. We also obtained the excellent images of VY CMa with the CO and $^{13}CO$ J=2-1 and $SO\;6_5-5_4$ lines. The maps of three molecular lines show that the envelope has a significant velocity gradient in the east-west direction, suggesting that the envelope surrounding VY CMa is also flattened and expanding along its radial direction. The high-resolution images obtained with the SMA show that some AGB stars are associated with the asymmetric mass loss including the equatorial wind and bipolar jet.

        In Silico Analysis of the Interaction of Avian Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptors and Dioxins to Decipher Isoform-, Ligand-, and Species-Specific Activations

        <P>The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) mediates toxic responses to 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-<I>p</I>-dioxin (TCDD) and other dioxin-like compounds (DLCs). Avian species possess multiple AHR isoforms (AHR1, AHR1β, and AHR2) that exhibit species- and isoform-specific responses to ligands. To account for the ligand preference in terms of the structural features of avian AHRs, we generated in silico homology models of the ligand-binding domain of avian AHRs based on <I>holo</I> human HIF-2α (PDB entry <ext-link ext-link-type='pdb' xlink:href='3H7W' xlink:type='simple'>3H7W</ext-link>). Molecular docking simulations of TCDD and other DLCs with avian AHR1s and AHR2s using ASEDock indicated that the interaction energy increased with the number of substituted chlorine atoms in congeners, supporting AHR transactivation potencies and World Health Organization TCDD toxic equivalency factors of congeners. The potential interaction energies of an endogenous AHR ligand, 6-formylindolo [3,2-<I>b</I>] carbazole (FICZ) to avian AHRs were lower than those of TCDD, which was supported by a greater potency of FICZ for in vitro AHR-mediated transactivation than TCDD. The molecular dynamics simulation revealed that mean square displacements in Ile324 and Ser380 of TCDD-bound AHR1 of the chicken, the most sensitive species to TCDD, were smaller than those in other avian AHR1s, suggesting that the dynamic stability of these amino acid residues contribute to TCDD preference. For avian AHR2, the corresponding residues (Val/Ser or Val/Ala type) were not responsible for differential TCDD sensitivity. Application of the three-dimensional reference interaction site model showed that the stabilization of TCDD binding to avian AHRs may be due to the solvation effect depending on the characteristics of two amino acids corresponding to Ile324 and Ser380 in chicken AHR1.
