To quantitatively investigate the nationwide drought characteristics and to comparatively evaluate the drought severity, regional frequency analysis developed from cumulative monthly precipitation series is made for the meteorological stations in each of the 15 subbasins covering the whole nation. The best-fit probability distribution is chosen by the method of frequency analysis made the discordancy measure for each stations, the regional heterogeneous measure and the goodness-of-fit measure, the probability distributions fitted drought precipitation series are multi-parameter probability distributions, The method of L-moments is used to determine the unbiased parameters of each distribution and the best-fit distribution for each subbasin of various durations(4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months) with return periods of 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 years are estimated. This study is focused on suggesting the method determines the drought precipitation of the durations and return periods of each regions by the probabilistic analysis.

In this paper, I treated ethnic tension in Soviet Union(USSR), which become inadventently apparent by Gorbachev's policy of Perestroika. By analyzing historical ethnic policy of Russian empire and USSR, I pointed out the ethnic conflict in USSR is originated from Russian colonial expansionism and Russian shavinism. Tzar and the heirs to the Russiasn colonial empire, the communist leaders have terribly repressed the non-Russian ethnic groups. And also I predicted that such ethnic problems will be severe more and more even in and among independant Republics.

Spinal epidural abscess is an uncommon but readily diagnosable and treatable potential cause of paralysis and death. The incidence of spinal epidural abscess is approximately one to two cases per 10,000 hospital admissions in the United States. The symptoms of spinal epidural abscess are varied but include lower back pain, fever, local tenderness and neurological deficit, especially in such high risk groups as patients with diabetes, intravenous drug abuse, chronic renal failure, alcoholism, liver disease and immunocompromization. Infections of the epidural space originate from contiguous spread or via hematogenous routes from a distant source. Cutaneous sites of infection are the most common remote sources, especially in intravenous drug users. S. aureus accounts for most spinal epidural abscess infections, followed by streptococci and gram-negative anaerobes. We here report a case of spinal epidural abscess in renal abscess patient complaining of fever and back pain. A 71-year old female patient was admitted to epigastric pain and oliguria. She had been diagnosed as acute renal failure and treated with hydration. After third hospital days, she shows a persistent fever and drowsy mentality. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated renal abscess. She was treated with intravenous antibiotics, third cephalosporin. Blood cultures and urinary culture revealed Escherichia, coli. After fourteenth hospital days, she developed back pain, muscle weakness and decreased sensation of lower extremities. Spine MRI demonstrated spinal epidural abscess with spinal cord compression. Surgical drainage with laminectomy was performed. After treatment of intravenous antibiotics and surgical drainage, she discharged with improved back pain and neurological symptom.

항공기용 제트엔진에 대한 가변구조 제어기 설계에 관한 연구

본 논문에서는 작동점에서 선형화하여 얻은 터보 제트엔진의 선형 모델에 대한 가변구조제어시스템을 설계하였다. 슬라이딩모드에서 발생하는 채터링을 제거하기 위하여 새로운 스위칭영역 설정방법을 제시하고 이 영역내에서 연속제어 입력이 가해지도록 하였다. 제안된 알고리즘을 적용하여 작동점에서 스텝함수로 변하는 명령을 따르도록 하였으며, 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 결과를 보였다. In this paper a variable structure controller is designed for the aircraft jet engine model which is linearized in operating point. In order to eliminate the chattering in the sliding mode, a new method of the switching region is proposed and a discontiuous control input is substituded by a continuous one in this region. The proposed control algorithm is applied to the engine model plant in the operating point. Simulation results show that good system responses for step changes of the command are obtained.

Three-Dimensional Z-Plasty(Yoon's Method)를 이용한 내안각 췌피 성형술

The presence of epicanthal folds in Asian eyelids is one of their unique features, in combination with the lack of supratarsal folds. Western culture has influenced many people to prefer to eliminate the prominent epicanthal fold. A number of surgical techniques have been suggested for their correction. However, difficulty with design, excessive and prominent scarring of medial canthal and nasal area, recurrence, and rigidity of application are potential problems associated with many procedures. This paper describes a epicanthoplasty with three-dimensional Z-plasty. Through epicanthal fold incision, the medial canthal tendon is medially advanced and sutured to the periosteum of nasal bone. After the transposition of the flaps, trimming of the flap is usually required. Three-dimensional Z-plasty creates the attractive eyes. From March, 1995 to March, 1997, the technique was applied to 37 patients with epicanthal fold and was performed with or without double-fold operation. There were 34 females and 3 males with ages ranging from 17 to 30 years. Through 2 years follow-up, this technique has delivered esthetically good results with minimal postoperative scar and could made the reduction of ICD from 40 ± 2.13 mm to 34 ± 1.98 mm. The advantages of epicanthoplasty procedure using three-dimensional Z-plasty(Yoon's method) are as follows; 1) simple in design 2)minimal postoperative scar in the medial canthal area 3) versatile in its application 4) no recurrence 5) no hypertrophic scar 6) preserving ethnic identity.

내부고발에 대한 유교 윤리 및 집단주의 태도의 영향 : The Impacts of Confucian Ethics and Collectivism

이 연구에서는 내부고발의 지지 및 보복의 우려에 흔히 동아시아 문화적 특징으로 간주되는 유교 윤리 및 집단주의 태도가 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 검토하였다. 관련 변수들에 대한 측정 지표 개발과 중간직 공무원 344명을 대상으로 한 질문지 조사 자료를 바탕으로, 결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 이 연구는 유교 윤리 및 집단주의적 태도가 내부고발에 부정적 영향을 미친다는 일반적인 주장이나 믿음은 사실과 어느 정도 다른 것을 발견하였다. 예컨대, 유교 윤리 중 군신의 의나 부분 유별은 내부고발에 부정적이나 친구 간 신의는 오히려 그 반대였다. 또 수평적 집단주의 태도를 가진 사람이 오히려 수직적 개인주의자보다 내부고발을 더 지지하는 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 이러한 결과에 근거해 내부고발과 유교 윤리 및 집단주의 태도간의 영향 관계가 그렇게 단순히 부정적인 것으로 일반화하기 힘든, 보다 복잡한 것으로 설명했다. 이 밖에 이 연구는 유교 윤리 중 남녀차별이 함축하는 남성 우월적 태도가, 그리고 집단-개인주의보다는 오히려 수직-수평적 태도가 내부고발에 보다 유력한 영향 변수일 가능성을 제시하렸다. 이러한 연구는 그 동안 영향 변수를 개인, 조직, 상황 요인에 한정하던 기존의 내부고말 논의에 새로이 비교 문화 변수를 추가하는 것이다. This paper reports on the impact of Confucian ethics and cillectivism, which are considered as cultural characteristics of Eastern Asian countries, on government employees' attitudes toward support of whistleblowing and their fear of retaliation. Based on the measures of major variables, this study collected data from a total of 344 public officials. Most people in Asia believe that Confucian ethics and cillectivism have negative relationships with attitudes toward whistleblowing. However, the results showed that this belief was seldom supported by the data. For instance, the effects of truthfulness of the sovereign and his subjects, as well as the distinction between husband and wife in confucian thics, on whistleblowing attitudes were negative as anticipated. However, the effects of cinfidence between friends in Confucian ethics tended to be the opposite. The study also found that horizontal collectivists support whistleblowing more than vertical individualists. Thus, the results od this study suggest that the relationships between whistleblowing and Confucian ethics, and those between whistleblowing and collectivist attitudes, are not sufficiently simple to be able to conclude that they are negative. Furthermore, the study notes that male-dominated attitudes reflected in the distinction between the roles of hudband and wife, as well as a horizontal-vertical distinction between attitudes moght be significant variables for explaining attitudes toward whistleblowing.

유명산의 식물상 및 산림군락분류에 관한 연구

2002년 3월부터 2003년 10월까지 유명산 자연휴양림을 대상으로 식물상과 산림군락구조를 조사한 결과, 관속식물이 98과 331속 570종 1아종 81변종 4품종 2교잡종으로 총 658종류로 나타났으며, 한국특산식물은 10과 14속 13종 2변종 1교잡종 총 16종류. 희귀 및 멸종위기식물은 9과 10속 11종 총 11종류, 귀화식물은 12과 22속 28종 총 28종류로 나타났다. 산림군락은 신갈나무-철쭉군목, 신갈나무-생강나무군단, 소나무-산거울군락, 잣나무-주름조개풀군락, 물푸레나무-신갈나무군락, 층층나무-신갈나무군락, 굴참나무-신갈나무군락, 싸리-신갈나무군락으로 전체 1군목, 1군단, 6군락이 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. The study was carried out to investigate the flora and community classification of forest vegetation in Mt. Yumyeong from March, 2002 to October, 2003. As a result of that, the vascular plants were 98 families, 331 genera, 570 species. 1 subspecies, 81 varieties, 4 formae, 2 hybrid, 658 taxa in all. Korean endemic plants were 10 families, 14 genera, 13 species, 2 variaties, 1 hybrid. 16 taxa in all ;, rare and endangered plants were 9 families, 10 genera. 11 species, 11 taxa in all ; naturalized plants were 12 families, 22 genera, 28 species, 28 taxa in all. The forest vegetation was classified into 1 order, 1 alliance. 6 communities : Rhododendro - Quercetalia mongolicae (Kim, 1990) Lindero - Quercion mongolicae (Kim, 1990) A.
