      • A method for finding normal subgroups of Hecke groups

Hasan Basri Özdemir,Musa Demirci,Ismail Naci Cangül 장전수학회 2006 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.9 No.1

Hecke groups, being discrete groups, play an important role in abstract group theory and number theory. Their normal subgroups are studied in [2]: Here, using a result of D. Singerman [7]; we deduce a method of …nding normal subgroups of all Hecke groups. This method helps us to obtain the signature of these subgroups, and their abstract group structure can be obtained from this by means of the results in [1]: As a result, the abstract group structure of normal subgroups of Hecke groups corresponding to cyclic and dihedral quotients is obtained.1

Seismic safety assessment of eynel highway steel bridge using ambient vibration measurements

Ahmet Can Altuni sik,Alemdar Bayraktar,Hasan Özdemir 국제구조공학회 2012 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.10 No.2

In this paper, it is aimed to determine the seismic behaviour of highway bridges by nondestructive testing using ambient vibration measurements. Eynel Highway Bridge which has arch type structural system with a total length of 216 m and located in the Ayvaclk county of Samsun, Turkey is selected as an application. The bridge connects the villages which are separated with Suat U urlu Dam Lake. A three dimensional finite element model is first established for a highway bridge using project drawings and an analytical modal analysis is then performed to generate natural frequencies and mode shapes in the three orthogonal directions. The ambient vibration measurements are carried out on the bridge deck under natural excitation such as traffic, human walking and wind loads using Operational Modal Analysis. Sensitive seismic accelerometers are used to collect signals obtained from the experimental tests. To obtain experimental dynamic characteristics, two output-only system identification techniques are employed namely, Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition technique in the frequency domain and Stochastic Subspace Identification technique in time domain. Analytical and experimental dynamic characteristic are compared with each other and finite element model of the bridge is updated by changing of boundary conditions to reduce the differences between the results. It is demonstrated that the ambient vibration measurements are enough to identify the most significant modes of highway bridges. After finite element model updating, maximum differences between the natural frequencies are reduced averagely from 23% to 3%. The updated finite element model reflects the dynamic characteristics of the bridge better, and it can be used to predict the dynamic response under complex external forces. It is also helpful for further damage identification and health condition monitoring. Analytical model of the bridge before and after model updating is analyzed using 1992 Erzincan earthquake record to determine the seismic behaviour. It can be seen from the analysis results that displacements increase by the height of bridge columns and along to middle point of the deck and main arches. Bending moments have an increasing trend along to first and last 50 m and have a decreasing trend long to the middle of the main arches.

Association of Polymorphisms within the Serotonin Receptor Genes 5-HTR1A, 5-HTR1B, 5-HTR2A and 5-HTR2C and Migraine Susceptibility in a Turkish Population

        Yavuz Yücel,Salih Coşkun,Beyhan Cengiz,Hasan H. Özdemir,Ertuğrul Uzar,Abdullah Çim,M. Akif Camkurt,M. Ufuk Aluclu 대한정신약물학회 2016 CLINICAL PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE Vol.14 No.3

Objective: Migraine, a highly prevelant headache disorder, is regarded as a polygenic multifactorial disease. Serotonin (5-HT) and their respective receptors have been implicated in the patogenesis. Methods: We investigated the 5-HT1A, 5-HT1B, 5-HT2A, and 5-HT2C receptor gene polymorphisms and their association with migraine in Turkish patients. The rs6295, rs1300060, rs1228814, rs6311, rs6313, rs6314, rs6318, rs3813929 (-759C/T) and rs518147 polymorphisms were analyzed in 135 patients with migraine and 139 healthy subjects, using a BioMark 96.96 dynamic array system. Results: We found no difference in the frequency of the analyzed eight out of nine polymorpisms between migraine and control groups. However, a significant association was found between the rs3813929 polymorphism in the promoter region of 5-HTR2C gene and migraine. Also, the allele of rs3813929 was more common in the migraine group. Conclusion: This result suggests that the 5-HTR2C rs3813929 polymorphism can be a genetic risk factor for migraine in a Turkish population.

      • Vibration and buckling analyses of FGM beam with edge crack: Finite element and multilayer perceptron methods

        Murat Yaylacı,Ecren Uzun Yaylacı,Mehmet Emin Özdemir,Şevval Öztürk,Hasan Sesli 국제구조공학회 2023 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.46 No.4

This study represents a numerical research in vibration and buckling of functionally graded material (FGM) beam comprising edge crack by using finite element method (FEM) and multilayer perceptron (MLP). It is assumed that the material properties change only according to the exponential distributions along the beam thickness. FEM and MLP solutions of the natural frequencies and critical buckling load are obtained of the cracked FGM beam for clamped–free (C-F), hinged–hinged (H-H), and clamped–clamped (C-C) boundary conditions. Numerical results are obtained to show the effects of crack location (c/L), material properties (E2/E1), slenderness ratio (L/h) and end supports on the bending vibration and buckling properties of cracked FGM beam. The FEM analysis used in this paper was verified with the literature, and the fundamental frequency ratio ( ̅) and critical buckling load ratio ( ̅̅̅̅) results obtained were compared with FEM and MLP. The results obtained are quite compatible with each other
