Polarization Re-Configurable Antenna with Increase Gain for Small Satellites

Haris Mohammad,Khalil Ruhul Amin,Saeed Nasir 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.6

Future small satellites require the development of reconfi gurable antennas. Designing such antennas, especially single port patch antennas with circular polarization is a challenging task. Therefore, we propose both right-hand/left-hand circularly polarized (RHCP/LHCP) antenna which can reconfi gure. The proposed antenna follows patch topology with E-shape that is single-layer and single-feed with two RF switches. The switches can alter the polarization in real-time. We also show various properties of the proposed antenna, such as radiation pattern, impedance matching, axial ratio, and bandwidth through simulations and measurements. The proposed model shows excellent performance and agrees well with the measurements. The performance of the antenna shows an eff ective bandwidth of 2.45 GHz–2.82 GHz with a maximum gain of 9.88 dB at 2.55 GHz. The symmetry of the antenna radiation is preserved by switching between the LHCP and RHCP polarization modes.

Supplementation of fly ash improves growth, yield, biochemical, and enzymatic antioxidant response of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Mohammad Haris,Moh Sajid Ansari,Abrar Ahmad Khan 한국원예학회 2021 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.62 No.5

This research was investigated to assess the eff ect of fl y ash (FA) on the growth, yield, biochemical attributes, and enzymaticantioxidant response of chickpea ( Cicer arietinum L. cv. Avrodhi). After evaluating soil and FA nutrient status byenergy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), diff erent concentrations of FA with soil were applied (5, 10, 15, 20, 25,and 30%). Chickpea plants grown at all FA-amended soil concentrations demonstrate signifi cant improvement ( p ≤ 0.05)in growth and yield biomass. Exhibition of enhancement in biochemical attributes such as photosynthetic pigments(chlorophyll a and b, total chlorophyll, and total carotenoid by 16.83, 24.50, 19.13, and 21.74%), total protein (48.54%),leghemoglobin (42.39%), nitrate reductase activity (18.35%), proline content (28.16%), and antioxidant enzymes activities. Moreover, an improvement in the stomatal pore of the FA treated plant also noticed by a scanning electron microscope(SEM). Overall, the fi ndings of this study indicate that the supplementation of FA contributed to increment inthese attributes at all the concentrations compared with control (without FA) ‘but maximally ~ up to FA 20%.’ However, plant growth and yield biomass decreased above the concentration of FA 20% because chickpea can balanced nutrientseffi ciency up to FA 20%.

Proximate Content Monitoring of Black Soldier Fly Larval (Hermetia illucens) Dry Matter for Feed Material using Short-Wave Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging

        김준태,Hary Kurniawan,Mohammad Akbar Faqeerzada,Geonwoo Kim,이훈수,김문성,백인석,조병관 한국축산식품학회 2023 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.43 No.6

Edible insects are gaining popularity as a potential future food source because of their high protein content and efficient use of space. Black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) are noteworthy because they can be used as feed for various animals including reptiles, dogs, fish, chickens, and pigs. However, if the edible insect industry is to advance, we should use automation to reduce labor and increase production. Consequently, there is a growing demand for sensing technologies that can automate the evaluation of insect quality. This study used short-wave infrared (SWIR) hyperspectral imaging to predict the proximate composition of dried BSFL, including moisture, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and crude ash content. The larvae were dried at various temperatures and times, and images were captured using an SWIR camera. A partial least-squares regression (PLSR) model was developed to predict the proximate content. The SWIR-based hyperspectral camera accurately predicted the proximate composition of BSFL from the best preprocessing model; moisture, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, and crude ash content were predicted with high accuracy, with R2 values of 0.89 or more, and root mean square error of prediction values were within 2%. Among preprocessing methods, mean normalization and max normalization methods were effective in proximate prediction models. Therefore, SWIR-based hyperspectral cameras can be used to create automated quality management systems for BSFL.

A prospective randomized study of arthroscopic ACL reconstruction with adjustable- versus fixed-loop device for femoral side fixation

        ( Naiyer Asif ),( Mohammad Jesan Khan ),( K. P. Haris ),( Shah Waliullah ),( Anubhav Sharma ),( Danish Firoz ) 대한슬관절학회 2021 대한슬관절학회지 Vol.33 No.-

Purpose: Suspensory devices are extensively used in the management of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. They include fixed- and adjustable-loop devices. There are only a few studies comparing the efficacy of these two devices in the available literature. Therefore, the aim of this study is to compare clinical outcomes between the adjustableloop device (group I) and fixed-loop device (group II). Materials and methods: This was a prospective randomized study. Both groups were equivalent in demographic, preoperative, and intraoperative variables. Twenty-three patients underwent femoral side graft fixation with adjustable- loop and 20 with fixed-loop devices. Four patients were lost to follow-up. Assessment of clinical outcome was done with International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, Lysholm score, and knee stability tests (Lachman test and pivot shift test). Patient evaluation was performed preoperatively and finally postoperatively 2 years after surgery. Results: Postoperative IKDC scores of group I and II were 91.9 ± 3.6 and 91.5 ± 3.6, respectively, and Lysholm scores were 91.0 ± 3.6 and 91.4 ± 3.5, respectively, after 2 years; however, the difference in the outcomes was statistically insignificant (p > 0.05). Twenty patients (87%) in group I and 17 patients (85%) in group II had a negative Lachman test (p = 0.8). Twenty-two patients (95.7%) in group I and 19 patients (95%) in group II had a negative pivot shift test (p = 0.9). Conclusion: ACL reconstruction with fixed- and adjustable-loop suspensory devices for graft fixation gives equivalent and satisfactory clinical results. Level of evidence: 1.

      • Antiglycating potential of gum arabic capped-silver nanoparticles.

        Ashraf, Jalaluddin M,Ansari, Mohammad Azam,Choi, Inho,Khan, Haris M,Alzohairy, Mohammad A Humana Press 2014 Applied biochemistry and biotechnology Vol.174 No.1

<P>Advanced glycation end products are major contributors to the pathology of diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, and atherosclerosis; accordingly, identification of antiglycation compounds is attracting considerable interest. In the present study, the inhibitory effect of gum arabic capped-silver nanoparticles on advanced glycation end products formation was monitored by several biophysical techniques. Silver nanoparticles were characterized by ultraviolet-visible, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. Bovine serum albumin and methylglyoxal mixtures incubated with increasing concentrations of silver nanoparticles showed significant reductions in advanced glycation end product formation that were confirmed by ultraviolet-visible, fluorescence spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography techniques. High-performance liquid chromatography showed decreased adduct formation of glycated protein in the presence of silver nanoparticles. The structural changes induced by silver nanoparticles were further confirmed by circular dichroism and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Strong inhibition of advanced glycation end product formation was observed in the presence of elevated silver nanoparticles. The results of this study suggest that silver nanoparticles are a potent antiglycating agent.</P>

Effect of Mitral Inflow Pattern on Diagnosis of Severe Mitral Regurgitation in Patients with Chronic Organic Mitral Regurgitation

        Nishath Quader,Prasanth Katta,Mohammad Q. Najib,Hari P. Chaliki 한국심초음파학회 2013 Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging (J Cardiovasc Im Vol.21 No.4

Background: To determine sensitivity and specificity of E wave velocity in patients with severe chronic organic mitral regurgitation (MR) and normal left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) and to evaluate prevalence of A wave dominance in patients with severe MR. Methods: We compared 35 patients with quantified severe, chronic, quantified, organic MR due to flail/prolapsed leaflets who had reparative surgery with 35 age-matched control subjects. Exclusion criteria: EF < 60%, atrial fibrillation, and more than mild aortic regurgitation. Results: Mean [standard deviation (SD)] age [70 (8) years vs. 69 (8) years; p = 0.94] and mean (SD) EF [66% (6%) vs. 65% (4%); p = 0.43] were not different between the two groups. Mean (SD) E wave velocity was greater in case patients than control subjects [1.2 (0.3) m/sec vs. 0.7 (0.15) m/sec; p < 0.001]. However, E wave velocity of 1.2 m/sec had a sensitivity of only 57% [95% confidence interval (CI), 41-72%] and a specificity of 100% (95% CI, 90-100%) in identifying severe MR. E wave velocity of 0.9 m/sec had a more optimal combined sensitivity (89%; 95% CI, 74-95%) and specificity (86%; 95% CI, 71-94%). A wave dominance was seen in 18% of case patients and 66% of control subjects (p < 0.001). Conclusion: E wave velocity of 1.2 m/sec is specific not sensitive for severe organic MR; E wave velocity of 0.9 m/sec has better sensitivity and specificity. A wave dominance pattern alone cannot exclude patients with severe organic MR. Our findings highlight the importance of a comprehensive echocardiographic exam rather than relying on a few Doppler parameters in diagnosing MR.

      • Activity of Pralsetinib Versus Selpercatinib in Patients with RET Fusionpositive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

( Faiza Ahmed ),( Israr Khan ),( Nazma Hanif ),( Alaa Hamdan ),( Mohammad Ali Zaidi ),( Zeynep Yukselen ),( Umer Salman ),( Sakshi Mishra ),( Jack Michel ),( Muhammad Haris Khan ),( Andre Thompson ),( 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 2021 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 추계학술대회 초록집 Vol.129 No.-

Background Pralsetinib and selpercatinib are anticancer drugs targeting RET fusions (oncogenic drivers) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The US FDA approved both drugs in 2020 for the treatment of RET-fusion positive NSCLC. Methods We assessed the efficacy & safety of pralsetinib versus selpercatinib in RET fusion-positive NSCLC in two clinical trials: phase1/2 ARROW trial (n=354) and phase 1/2 LIBRETTO-001 trial (n=144). Results In patients who had previously received platinum-based therapy (n=105), Drilon et al., 2020 showed an overall response rate (ORR) of 64% (95% CI, 54-73) and a median duration of response (mDOR) of 17.5 months (95% CI, 12.0-NE) with selpercatinib in phase 1/2 LIBRETTO-001 trial. Furthermore, a complete response (CR) of 2%, partial response (PR) of 62%, stable disease (SD) of 29%, and median progression-free survival (mPFS) of 16.5 months ( 95% CI, 13.7 - NE) were reported. Treatment naive patients (n=39) demonstrated an ORR of 85% (95% CI, 70-94) and PR of 85%. The responses were determined by the independent review committee. Lee et al., 2019 (n=111) demonstrated a rapid lowering of RET circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in 81% of NSCLC patients with pralsetinib therapy. A phase 1/2 ARROW trial (n= 116) exhibited a median follow-up of 8.8 months in patients who received pralsetinib 400 mg daily. Additionally, ORR was 65%, CR 6%, disease control rate 93 (95% CI, 87 - 97), and resulted in overall tumor size reduction in 96% of patients. Refer to (Table 1) for further details. Conclusion Pralsetinib and Selpercatinib have shown promising anti-tumor activity and an acceptable safety profile in RET fusion-positive NSCLC. However, we cannot draw a firm conclusion regarding which one is better due to insufficient data. Clinical trials, including AcceleRET, are still ongoing, and data is pending. Further comparative studies are needed to derive meaningful survival outcomes.
