Treatments of organic isothiocyanates (R-NCS) with $NaN_3$ in the presence of pyridine in water at room temperature gave corresponding various organic tetrazole-thiones, [$S=CN_4(R)$] (R = alkyl or aryl). Isolated products are obtained as white or yellow solids in good yields (76-97%). The molecular structure by X-ray diffraction study for one of products shows the proposed formation. In addition, one-pot synthesis of 1-substituted 5-alkyl(or aryl)sulfanyltetrazoles has been demonstrated. Addition of alkyl or aryl halides into the mixture of organic isothiocyanates, $NaN_3$, and pyridine in water at room temperature exclusively formed 1-substituted 5-alkyl(or aryl)sulfanyltetrazoles (S-derivatives) in high yields.
This article presents a theoretical media-sociology of celebrity death as a “media event.” Using Dayan and Katz's famed concept as a point of entry, it examines a particular media event, the suicide of South Korean actress Choi Jin-sil (1968-2008), once dubbed “the nation's actress,” through the lens of not only of “media events” but also celebrity studies and the sociology of religion. It does so with emphasis placed on the particular significance of suicide as well as the characteristics of celebrity and fandom in South Korean culture. It also discusses the place of death in the current technologically mediated culture, where death is no longer “sequestered” but more present than ever. Treating celebrity death as a primary example of “mediated death,” it explicates key conceptual insights from celebrity studies that bear on the analysis of Choi's suicide, in particular the concept of “para-sociality.” The article concludes by interpreting Choi's suicide as a media event that “heroizes” Choi as a symbol of the nation, reinforcing a “civil religiosity.”
[Purpose] Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a heritable, chronic, neurobehavioral disorder that is characterized by hyperactivity, inattention, and impulsivity. It is commonly believed that the symptoms of ADHD are closely associated with hypo-function of the dopamine system. Dopamine D2 receptor activation decreases the excitability of dopamine neurons, as well as the release of dopamine. Physical exercise is known to improve structural and functional impairments in neuropsychiatric disorders. We investigated the therapeutic effect of exercise on ADHD. [Methods] Open field task and elevated-plus maze task were used in the evaluation of hyperactivity and impulsivity, respectively. Dopamine D2 receptor expression in the substantia nigra and striatum were evaluated by western blotting. [Results] The present results indicated that ADHD rats showed hyperactivity and impulsivity. Dopamine D2 receptor expression in the substantia nigra and striatum were increased in ADHD rats. Exercise alleviated hyperactivity and impulsivity in ADHD rats. Furthermore, dopamine D2 receptor expression in ADHD rats was also decreased by exercise. [Conclusion] We thus showed that exercise effectively alleviates ADHD-induced symptoms through enhancing dopamine D2 expression in the brain.
This paper focuses on a model order reduction (MOR) for large-scale rotordynamic systems by using finite element discretization. Typical rotor-bearing systems consist of a rotor, built-on parts, and a support system. These systems require careful consideration in their dynamic analysis modeling because they include unsymmetrical stiffness, localized nonproportional damping, and frequency-dependent gyroscopic effects. Because of this complex geometry, the finite element model under consideration may have a very large number of degrees of freedom. Thus, the repeated dynamic analyses used to investigate the critical speeds, stability, and unbalanced response are computationally very expensive to complete within a practical design cycle. In this study, we demonstrate that a Krylov subspace-based MOR via moment matching significantly speeds up the rotordynamic analyses needed to check the whirling frequencies and critical speeds of large rotor systems. This approach is very efficient, because it is possible to repeat the dynamic simulation with the help of a reduced system by changing the operating rotational speed, which can be preserved as a parameter in the process of model reduction. Two examples of rotordynamic systems show that the suggested MOR provides a significant reduction in computational cost for a Campbell diagram analysis, while maintaining accuracy comparable to that of the original systems.
This article aims to ask why there is an oft-made elision between culture and religion. It views Confucianism (and Confucian values) in Korea as an instance of this. Offering a critical re-reading of debates spurred by Durkheimian social science, it analyzes what I call the ‘‘culture-religion'' nexus. In doing so, this article tries to suggest that prior concepts deployed to address this nexus—namely, ‘‘popular religion'' and ‘‘civil religion''—may need to be rethought to consider the significance of media, and the symbolic structure that it facilitates in the crafting of individualized moral-meaning systems or codes. As a result, I suggest that religion and culture, both, operate within conditions whereby individuals do not passively receive doctrine but rather interpret and construct ‘‘lifestyles.'' I demonstrate how this works through a media analysis of the recent trend of ‘‘piety travel'' in South Korean television programming and its ‘‘mediatization'' of Confucian values.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major health problem in many countries, and it is estimated to be the third common cause of death by 2020. However, there are few population-based studies to investigate the chest x-ray findings in patients with COPD. Methods: We investigated the relationship of lung function and chest x-ray findings using Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data. A total of 45,811 subjects were enrolled from July 2008 to December 2012. 13,602 subjects (5,878 male and 7,724 female) who undertook chest x-ray and PFT were analyzed in this study. Chest x-ray findings were interpreted by one radiologist and four pulmonologists, and these readings were re-checked by six other doctors. Chest x-ray findings are divided by 11 categories. PFT results are classified as normal, obstructive, or restrictive pattern. All data analysis was done by SAS 9.2. Results: 10,342 (76.0%) subjects showed normal lung function; 1,776 (13.1%) obstructive pattern; 1,484 (10.9%) restrictive pattern. Inactive tuberculosis was the most common finding (7.9%) in this study. In subjects with airway obstruction, inactive tuberculosis (20.1%) was the most common finding and inactive other lung disease (6.3%) was the second. Like subject with obstructive lung pattern, inactive tuberculsis (11.3%) and inactive other lung dieseas (5.5%) were most common in subjects with restrictive lung function. Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, there were no studies to investigate the association of lung function and chest x-ray findings using population based study. In Korea, 20.1% of subjects with airway obstruction showed inactive tuberculosis on chest x-ray. Inactive tuberculosis and inactive other lung disease were most common chest x-ray findings in both subjects with obstructive and restrictive lung function, but the proportion was different between two groups.

Currently, national protection security in the Republic of Korea has developed greatly worldwide, and recent-ly has shown off advanced security universally in grand international events held in Korea such as the Asia-Europe Meeting(ASEM), Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC), G20 and Nuclear Security Summit, and through this, with security agencies from over the world and application of Korean martial arts and sports secu-rity skills, the intercourse is being widely activated. Accordingly, Korean Protection Security protects protectees from various dangerous elements, and the im-portance of security is becoming bigger as the last resort of being responsible for the safety of protectees in dead zones of terror and crime. To improve the guards' ability to react, protection training is essential. However the exact academic concept of Protection Security of Martial Arts and Sports is not established in Korea at the moment, and the bodyguards are being trained in Judo, Taekwondo, Kendo, and Aikido. Therefore, in order to improve the abilities into a high level of use in the field, propagation of protection security of martial arts is necessary by establishing officialized concepts by harmonizing existing scientific and technical move-ments of martial arts. Research showed the usage of martial arts in a police officer in performing his job in the field of security that Aikido was the highest for 52 people(36.8%), followed by Judo, 47(33.3%), Taekwondo 36(25.5%), and Kendo 6(4.2%). Also, in the case of Judo, there were many techniques in defending short distance dangers, therefore the use of it was the highest, Taekwondo used agile movements which made quick defense or reaction from danger possible, Kendo was not so useful in short distance defense, but there were many appropriate techniques in a long range defense and defending a weapon holder. Aikido was effective in defending and coping with danger by using various self-defense martial arts. The purpose of this study is to examine the high use of martial arts in the field of security for police officers and to provide for the identity and generalization of security protection of martial arts by using the strengths of martial arts.
