A Rare Coronary Anomaly: Atypical Double Right Coronary Artery With an Acute Inferior Myocardial Infarction

        Halit Acet,Ferhat Ozyurtlu,Mehmet Zihni Bilik,Faruk Ertas 대한심장학회 2012 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.42 No.3

Coronary artery anomalies are uncommon and often asymptomatic. A double right coronary artery (RCA) is an extremely rare coronary artery anomaly, and only a few cases of double RCA have been reported. We report on an atherosclerotic double RCA that appeared after primary percutaneous intervention in a patient with an acute inferior myocardial infarction. This is the second case in the literature in which coronary arteries can be accepted as a double RCA, which were hidden by a total atherosclerotic occlusion in the proximal part of the RCA.

The relationship between nerve conduction studies and neuropathic pain in sciatic nerve injury due to intramuscular injection

( Halit Fidancı ),( İlker Öztürk ) 대한통증학회 2021 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.34 No.1

Background: Sciatic nerve injury due to intramuscular injection (SNIII) is still a health problem. This study aimed to determine whether there is a correlation between neuropathic pain and electrodiagnostic findings in SNIII. Methods: Patients whose clinical and electrodiagnostic findings were compatible with SNIII participated in this retrospective cohort study. Compound muscle action potential (CMAP) and sensory nerve action potential (SNAP) amplitudes of the sural, superficial peroneal, peroneal, and tibial nerves were graded from 1 to 4. Leeds assessment of neuropathic symptoms and signs scale (LANSS) was applied to all patients. Results: Forty-eight patients were included in the study, 67% of whom had a LANSS score ≥ 12. Sural SNAP amplitude abnormalities were present in 8 (50%) out of 16 patients with a LANSS score < 12, and 28 (87.5%) out of 32 patients with a LANSS score ≥ 12, with significant differences between the groups (P = 0.011). There was a positive correlation between the LANSS score and the sural SNAP amplitude grading (P = 0.001, r = 0.476). A similar positive correlation was also found in the LANSS score and the tibial nerve CMAP amplitude grading (P = 0.004, r = 0.410). Conclusions: This study showed a positive correlation between the severity of tibial nerve CMAP/sural SNAP amplitude abnormality and LANSS score in SNIII. Neuropathic pain may be more common in SNIII patients with sural nerve SNAP amplitude abnormality.

A Comparative Study on Electrical Characteristics of Crystalline AlN Thin Films Deposited by ICP and HCPA-Sourced Atomic Layer Deposition

        Halit Altuntas,Turkan Bayrak 대한금속·재료학회 2017 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.13 No.2

In this work, we aimed to investigate the effects of two different plasma sourceson the electrical properties of low-temperature plasma-assisted atomic layerdeposited (PA-ALD) AlN thin films. To compare the electrical properties,50 nm thick AlN films were grown on p-type Si substrates at 200 °C by usingan inductively coupled RF-plasma (ICP) and a stainless steel hollowcathode plasma-assisted (HCPA) ALD systems. Al/AlN/p-Si metal-insulatorsemiconductor(MIS) capacitor devices were fabricated and capacitance versusvoltage (C-V) and current-voltage (I-V) measurements performed to assess thebasic important electrical parameters such as dielectric constant, effectivecharge density, flat-band voltage, breakdown field, and threshold voltage. Inaddition, structural properties of the films were presented and compared. Theresults show that although HCPA-ALD deposited AlN thin films hasstructurally better and has a lower effective charge density (Neff) value thanICP-ALD deposited AlN films, those films have large leakage current, lowdielectric constant, and low breakdown field. This situation was attributed tothe involvement of Si atoms into the AlN layers during the HCPA-ALDprocessing leads to additional current path at AlN/Si interface and might impairthe electrical properties. • A Self-modeling Autonomous Airship

        Halit Bener SUAY,Takehisa YAIRI,Kazuo MACHIDA 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8

A self modeling airship with a parametric autonomous controller is introduced in this paper. Modeling of airships for autonomous control is a detailed and often time-taking process if some of the parameters are unknown. Although it is possible to make reasonable assumptions in some restricted case, a model generally consists of parameters such as, weight, coordinates of the center of gravity, moments of inertia, aerodynamic force coefficients and state vector of the airship. In this paper we propose taking advantage of visual markers in order to observe and estimate the state of the airship. These observations are used as an input to a linear regression process to define the relationship between the velocity and the acceleration vector of the airship. Finally as a result of the regression process aerodynamic damping parameters and provided thrust are found.

Lack of Association between PTPN22 Gene +1858 C>T Polymorphism and Susceptibility to Generalized Vitiligo in a Turkish Population

( Halit Akbas ),( Selma Bakar Dertlioglu ),( Fuat Dilmec ),( Ahmet Engin Atay ) 대한피부과학회 2014 Annals of Dermatology Vol.26 No.1

Background: Vitiligo is an autoimmune polygenic disorder characterized by loss of pigmentation due to melanocyte destruction. The PTPN22 gene +1858 C>T single nucleotide polymorphism (rs2476601) has been shown to be associated with various autoimmune disorders. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether the PTPN22 gene +1858 C>T single nucleotide polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to generalized vitiligo in a Turkish population. Methods: One hundred and seven patients with generalized vitiligo, and one hundred and twelve gender-, age-, and ethnic-matched controls were enrolled in the study. Genotyping was done by polymerase chain reaction- restriction fragment length polymorphism. Results: The PTPN22 +1858 C>T genotype and allele frequencies of the generalized vitiligo patients did not differ significantly from those of healthy controls. Conclusion: We found no association between the PTPN22 +1858 C>T gene polymorphism and vitiligo susceptibility in Turkish generalizedvitiligo patients. (Ann Dermatol 26(1) 88∼91, 2014)

Third Hankel determinants for starlike and convex functions of order alpha

        Halit Orhan,Paweł Zaprawa 대한수학회 2018 대한수학회보 Vol.55 No.1

In this paper we obtain the bounds of the third Hankel determinants for the classes $\mathcal{S}^\ast(\alpha)$ of starlike functions of order $\alpha$ and $\mathcal{K}(\alpha)$ of convex functions of order $\alpha$. Moreover,we derive the sharp bounds for functions in these classes which are additionally 2-fold or 3-fold symmetric.

THIRD HANKEL DETERMINANTS FOR STARLIKE AND CONVEX FUNCTIONS OF ORDER ALPHA

Orhan, Halit,Zaprawa, Pawel Korean Mathematical Society 2018 대한수학회보 Vol.55 No.1

In this paper we obtain the bounds of the third Hankel determinants for the classes $\mathcal{S}^*({\alpha})$ of starlike functions of order ${\alpha}$ and $\mathcal{K}({\alpha}$) of convex functions of order ${\alpha}$. Moreover,we derive the sharp bounds for functions in these classes which are additionally 2-fold or 3-fold symmetric.

      • Positive Effects of Oral β-Glucan on Mucositis and Leukopenia in Colorectal Cancer Patients Receiving Adjuvant FOLFOX-4 Combination Chemotherapy

        Karaca, Halit,Bozkurt, Oktay,Ozaslan, Ersin,Baldane, Suleyman,Berk, Veli,Inanc, Mevlude,Duran, Ayse Ocak,Dikilitas, Mustafa,Er, Ozlem,Ozkan, Metin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.8

The present study aimed to determine the effect of oral ${\beta}$-glucan on mucositis and leukopenia in 62 consecutive patients with colorectal cancer treated with an adjuvant FOLFOX-4 regimen. The patients were retrospectively evaluated in 2 groups: one group received ${\beta}$-glucan and the other did not (control group). Leucocytes, neutrophils, and platelets were evaluated before and 1 week after chemotherapy and oral mucositis and diarrhea were noted. Leucocyte and neutrophil counts after chemotherapy in the ${\beta}$-glucan group were $7,300/mm^3$ and $3,800/mm^3$, respectively, and the reductions, as compared to baseline, were not significant (p=0.673 and 0.784). The median platelet count was $264,000/mm^3$ after chemotherapy in the ${\beta}$-glucan group and the reduction, as compared to baseline, was borderline significant (p=0.048). In the control group, reduction in leucocyte, neutrophil, and platelet counts was statistically significant. Oral mucositis and diarrhea were less common in the ${\beta}$-glucan group. We conclude that ${\beta}$-glucan can be used to reduce the adverse effects of chemotherapy.

      • Association of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-2 Expression and Clinicopathological Findings in Patients with Colorectal Cancer

Karaca, Halit,Deniz, Kemal,Berk, Veli,Inanc, Mevlude,Ozkan, Metin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.12

Background: To determine the frequency of HER-2 overexpression in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, and to explore the relationship between clinicopathological prognostic factors and their effects on survival, based on immunohistochemistry (IHC) and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis. Materials and Methods: The study included 80 patients with a histologically proven diagnosis of CRC that received adjuvant FOLFOX-4 chemotherapy at our department between March 2006 and September 2010. Patient data were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The median follow-up period and age of the patients were 24 months and 59 years, respectively. In immunohistochemical staining, 3+ staining was found in 2 patients (2.5%) while 2+ was in 13 (16%). FISH for HER-2 was performed for all of these 15 patients; samples which were 3+ showed positivity but the ones with 2+ were negative. There was no significant correlation between HER-2 expression and age, gender, tumor localization, histological subtype, grade, lymphovascular and perineural invasion, or pTN stage (P>0.05), even when the patients with HER-2 overexpression were analyzed separately. There was also no significant relationship between progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), and HER-2 expression, gender, tumor localization, obstruction-perforation, bleeding, histological type, grade, lymphovascular and perineural invasion, or pT staging (P>0.05); however, there was a significant relationship between lymph node involvement, and PFS and OS (P<0.05). Conclusions: Evaluation of HER-2 overexpression in a more comprehensive, multi-center, prospective trial with standardized methods will be an appropriate approach.

Fekete-Szegö Problem for a Generalized Subclass of Analytic Functions

Orhan, Halit,Yagmur, Nihat,Caglar, Murat Department of Mathematics 2013 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.53 No.1

In this present work, the authors obtain Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for certain normalized analytic function $f(z)$ defined on the open unit disk for which $$\frac{{\lambda}{\beta}z^3(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}{\prime}}+(2{\lambda}{\beta}+{\lambda}-{\beta})z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+z(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}}}{{\lambda}{\beta}z^2(L(a,c)f(z))^{{\prime}{\prime}}+({\lambda}-{\beta})z(L(a,c)f(z))^{\prime}+(1-{\lambda}+{\beta})(L(a,c)f(z))}\;(0{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}{\lambda}{\leq}1)$$ lies in a region starlike with respect to 1 and is symmetric with respect to the real axis. Also certain applications of the main result for a class of functions defined by Hadamard product (or convolution) are given. As a special case of this result, Fekete-Szeg$\ddot{o}$ inequality for a class of functions defined through fractional derivatives are obtained.
