In this paper, in order to analyze lightning impulse response characteristics in combined installations of SPDs and RCDs, surge protection coordination between SPDs and RCDs are experimentally investigated by using the combination wave generator. Six different types of single-phase residual current operated circuit-breakers with integral overcurrent protection for household and similar uses(RCBOs) being present on the domestic market are tested according to KS C IEC 61009-1 standard. As a result, when a class I SPD is located on the source side of an RCBO, all kinds of specimens are able to provide the proper coordination between the SPD and RCBOs without nuisance tripping, unintended operation or damage due to test impulse currents. However, in the case that the class II SPD is located on the load side of RCBOs, a lot of L-N mode injected currents is split into the RCBO, and a few RCBOs are damaged. Coordination between SPDs and RCDs is not valid and a role of SPDs is of no use. When combining SPDs with RCDs, it is necessary to select SPDs and RCDs in consideration of the protection voltage level of metal oxide varistor embedded in RCDs.

Background : This study was development of moisture tolerance and high-yielding Rehmannia glutinosa cultivar. Methods and Results : Segang is developed by the medicinal crop breeding team of National Institute of Horticulture and Herbal Science(NIHHS), Rural Development Administration(RDA), during the period from 2005 to 2015. The reproduction of Rehmannia glutinosa has been accomplished mainly by vegetative propagation with its seedlings have many variants. The cultivar was selected from seedling of Jihwang 1(check variety). The plant type of Segang is some rising from ground. Regional yield trials conducted at three site from 2014 to 2015. The root yield of Segang was 21.1ton per hectare, which was increased 12% compared with Jihwang 1. Also, Segang has higher catalpol content and dried root ratio compared with Jihwang 1. Conclusion : Segang is a moisture tolerance and high-yielding Rehmannia glutinosa cultivar.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological effects and cellular signaling pathways associated with the anti-osteoclastogenesis effects of bavachin, a phytoestrogen, in the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB ligand (RANKL)- treated RAW264.7 cells. The cell viability of RAW264.7 cells was not affected upon treatment with 5-20 μM bavachin. Furthermore, osteoclastogenesis was suppressed by bavachin in a dose-dependent manner in RAW264.7 cells treated with RANKL. Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase, matrix metalloproteinase-9, and cathepsin K, which are closely associated with osteoclastogenesis, were significantly downregulated by bavachin in the presence of RANKL. Additionally, bavachin decreased inflammatory molecules, such as nitric oxide, inducible nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase-2, and prostaglandin E2 in RAW264.7 cells treated with RANKL. Bavachin suppressed the RANKLinduced phosphorylation of nuclear factor-κB and subsequently inhibited the translocation of nuclear factor-κB from the cytosol to the nucleus. Taken together, the obtained data suggest that bavachin may prevent the osteoclast-mediated bone destructive disorders.

Intraductal papillary mucinous tumor (IPMT) of the pancreas is a distinct entity characterized by intraductal papillary growth and thick mucin secretion. Prolonged postoperative survival can be anticipated in many IPMT cases. However, IPMT of the pancreas was reported to be associated with a high incidence of nonpancreatic neoplasms and these nonpancreatic neoplasms have potential prognostic significance in patients with IPMT. Recently, we experienced a case of IPMT of the pancreas accompanied by gastric cancer in a 72-year-old woman. The main pancreatic duct was incidentally found to be dilated on an abdominal computed tomography performed for staging of gastric cancer. A subtotal gastrectomy and near-total pancreatectomy were carried out. Histopathologic examinations of the resected specimens confirmed the diagnosis of early gastric cancer (T₁N₁Mо) and IPMT of the pancreas, carcinoma in situ, combined type. We report this interesting case with a review of the literature.

Background : Bitter gourd (Momordica charantia) is a vegetable with pantropical distribution and contains the active ingredient, such as momordicine and charantin. Moreover, bitter gourd has been reported to exhibit antidiabetic, anticancer, cardiovascular-protective and antioxidant effects. But, the distinctive bitter taste of bitter gourd was not suitable for food preference. This study was conducted to evaluate the improvement effects of bitter taste of bitter gourd with natural fermentation and roasting process. Methods and Results : Bitter gourd fruits were obtained from Headeulnyeokae Co., Ltd.(Gang-Jin 59253, Repubilc Korea). Fruits of bitter gourd were prepared by natural fermentation process for 4h at 25℃. After natural fermentation, the fruits were dried in hot-air dryer for 15h at 49-55℃. The dried fruits were roasted in 500 g batches at 120℃ for 10 min in the electric rotisserie oven. After roasting, fruit pieces were extracted with hot water and cold water. One of them was cool-type, and the other was hot-type bitter gourd tea. In the sensory evaluation, hot tea and cold tea showed the high scores on color, flavor and overall acceptability. Conclusion : These mean that roasted bitter gourd had less bitter, and it could be utilized widely as drink and food material.
