Influence of CeO2 morphology on the catalytic oxidation of ethanol in air

        Guilin Zhou,Baoguo Gui,Hongmei Xie,Fang Yang,Yong Chen,Shengming Chen,Xuxu Zheng 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.1

Nano-CeO2 catalysts of different shapes were synthesized at different hydrothermal crystallizationtemperatures from an alkaline aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electronmicroscope (TEM), and H2 temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR) were used to study thesynthesized nano-CeO2 catalyst samples. The catalytic properties of the prepared nano-CeO2 catalystsfor the catalytic oxidation of ethanol in air were also investigated. TEM analysis showed that CeO2nanorod and nanocube catalysts have been synthesized at hydrothermal crystallization temperatures of373 K and 453 K, respectively. XRD results showed that the synthesized nano-CeO2 catalysts have similarcubic fluorite structures. H2-TPR results indicated that CeO2 nanorod and nanocube catalysts exhibitdifferent reduction behaviors for H2 and that the nanorod catalyst has better low-temperature reductionperformance than the nanocube catalyst. Ethanol catalytic oxidation results indicated that oxidation andcondensation products (including acetaldehyde, acetic acid, CO2, and ethyl acetate) have been producedfrom the prepared catalysts. The ethyl acetate and acetic acid can be ignited by ethanol at lowtemperature on the CeO2(R) catalyst to give low catalytic combustion temperature for ethyl acetate andacetic acid molecules. CeO2 nanorods gave ethanol oxidation conversion rates above 99.2% at 443 K andCO2 selectivity exceeding 99.6% at 483 K, while CeO2 nanocubes gave ethanol oxidation conversion ratesof about 95.1% until 508 K and CO2 selectivity of only 93.86% at 543 K. CeO2 nanorod is a potential lowcostand effective catalyst for removing trace amounts of ethanol to purify air.

Phenyl VOCs catalytic combustion on supported CoMn/AC oxide catalyst

        Guilin Zhou,Xiaoling He,Sheng Liu,Hongmei Xie,Min Fu 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1

Supported CoMn/AC composite oxide catalysts were prepared by a typical impregnation methodat different calcination temperatures. The prepared CoMn/AC catalysts were characterized, and thecatalytic activity of the prepared supported CoMn/AC oxide catalysts was also investigated by thecatalytic combustion of phenyl volatile organic compounds (VOCs) (benzene, toluene, andethylbenzene). XRD and XPS results indicated that MnCo2O4 and CoMn2O4 were the main crystalphase species in the prepared supported CoMn/AC oxide catalysts. The active components wereobserved to be highly dispersed and had small crystal sizes. The toluene catalytic combustion resultsdemonstrated that the CAT350 catalyst had higher toluene catalytic combustion activity than theCTA250, CAT300, and CAT400 catalysts. The toluene catalytic combustion conversion of the CAT350catalyst exceeded 93.5% at 235 8C, with a decreased toluene concentration in air of less than 130 ppm at250 8C. The order of toluene catalytic activity of the supported CoMn/AC oxide catalystswas as follows:CAT250 < CAT300 CAT400 < CAT350. The catalytic combustion activity and stability of the CAT350catalyst also increased with the increase in reaction temperature. The catalytic activity of the CAT350catalyst was investigated to bring about the complete oxidation of benzene, ethylbenzene, and toluene. The combustibility of phenyl VOCs on the CAT350 catalyst was observed to follow the orderbenzene < ethylbenzene < toluene. Therefore, the differences in the phenyl VOC catalytic combustionperformances of the supported CoMn/AC composite oxide catalysts can be attributed to the differentphysical chemistry properties of the phenyl VOC molecules and the catalyst.

Coupling natural and human processes to simulate changes in the water environment in the Dianchi Lake basin, China

        Guilin Wang,Kun Yang,Yang Yang,Shaohua Zhang 한국자원공학회 2017 Geosystem engineering Vol.20 No.4

This study proposes a comprehensive simulation model that couples natural and human processes that have traditionally been simulated and analyzed independently. This model was established to support a risk assessment associated with natural disasters and social emergencies. In this paper, a driving mechanism was refined to reflect changes in the water environment and to understand the natural process of non-point source pollution formation in the Dianchi Lake basin. The land use and land cover model, incorporating the changes from the human activities and the natural process, was constructed to understand how humans affect the land use and land cover in the Dianchi Lake basin. Moreover, this paper studies the effects of land use and land cover changes on the non-point pollution and the urban non-point pollution with the SWAT and SWMM models. The land use and land cover changes, especially the growth and spread of the urban area, are changing the structure of the ecosystem and are degenerating the functions of the ecosystem. Ultimately, this study comprehensively simulated natural and human processes to analyze the effects of the human activities on water environment.

      • A Novel Synchronous Switch Method Based on Kalman Filter

Zheng Guilin,Chen Xi 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.8 No.2

In order to create the idea of AC switch without electric arc and inrush voltage to the power system, the study of accurately catches AC zero crossing of a mechanical relay is put forward in this paper. It is the key to make the switch act at the right predicted time which realizes switch on or off exactly at the AC zero crossing point. However, the action time of a mechanical switch is affect by many factors such as driving voltage, ambient temperature, age of the mechanic structure. Aim at the discrete measurements of latching relay action time, the Kalman filter mathematic model is introduced in this paper to eliminate the dynamic noise and measurement noise which affects the bias time drift from the zero voltage or zero current point. Simulation result by matlab and group data get from experiments of a realized multichannel switch indicate that Kalman filter algorithm can overcome the discreteness of latching relay action time measurements. Also confirmed by statistical experiments that synchronous switch action precisely and reliably at AC zero point which can ensure the ability of suppress electric arc and high frequency inrush current.

      • Adopting Text Mining on Rehabilitation Therapy Repositioning for Stroke

        Meng, Guilin,Huang, Yong,Yu, Qi,Ding, Ying,Wild, David,Zhao, Yanxin,Liu, Xueyuan,Song, Min Frontiers Media S.A. 2019 Frontiers in neuroinformatics Vol.13 No.-

<P>Stroke is a common disabling disease that severely affects the daily life of patients. Accumulating evidence indicates that rehabilitation therapy can improve movement function. However, no clear guidelines have specific and effective rehabilitation therapy schemes, and the development of new rehabilitation techniques has been relatively slow. This study used a text mining approach, the ABC model, to identify an existing rehabilitation candidate therapy method that is most likely to be repositioned for stroke. In the model, we built the internal links of stroke (A), assessment scales (B), and rehabilitation therapies (C) in PubMed and the links were related to upper limb function measurements for patients with stroke. In the first step, using E-utility, we retrieved both stroke-related assessment scales and rehabilitation therapy records and then compiled two datasets, which were called Stroke_Scales and Stroke_Therapies, respectively. In the next step, we crawled all rehabilitation therapies co-occurring with the Stroke_Therapies and then named them as All_Therapies. Therapies that were already included in Stroke_Therapies were deleted from All_Therapies; therefore, the remaining therapies were the potential rehabilitation therapies, which could be repositioned for stroke after subsequent filtration by a manual check. We identified the top-ranked repositioning rehabilitation therapy and subsequently examined its clinical validation. Hand-arm bimanual intensive training (HABIT) was ranked the first in our repositioning rehabilitation therapies and had the most interaction links with Stroke_Scales. HABIT significantly improved clinical scores on assessment scales [Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and action research arm test (ARAT)] in the clinical validation study for acute stroke patients with upper limb dysfunction. Therefore, based on the ABC model and clinical validation, HABIT is a promising repositioned rehabilitation therapy for stroke, and the ABC model is an effective text mining approach for rehabilitation therapy repositioning. The findings in this study would be helpful in clinical knowledge discovery.</P>

New Stability Conditions for Uncertain T-S Fuzzy Systems with Interval Time-Varying Delay

        Jiyao An,Guilin Wen,Tao Li,Renfa Li 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2012 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.10 No.3

This paper focuses on the stability problem for uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with interval time-varying delay. The system uncertainties are assumed to be time-varying and norm-bounded. The time-varying delay is considered as either being differentiable uniformly bounded with delay-derivative bounded by constant interval, or being fast-varying case with no restrictions on the delay derivative. Since we employ a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) which contains the information on the time-varying delay, and estimate the upper bound of its derivative less conservatively and adopt the convex optimization approach, some less conservative delay-derivative-dependent stability conditions are obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), without using any free weighting matrix. These conditions are derived that depends on both the upper and lower bounds of the delay derivatives. Finally, some numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and reduced conservatism of the proposed method.

A study on tensile strength mechanism of hypoeutectic gray cast iron reinforced by composite silicon carbide powder

        Chunfeng Wang,Jun Yang,Guilin Liu,Hong Gao,Meiling Chen 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2022 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.23 No.4

This study aims to reveal the changes in the microstructure of hypoeutectic gray cast iron under the addition of compositesilicon carbide powder of different mass fractions, and to explore how modified silicon carbide (SiC) particles of different sizesand contents improve the mechanical properties of hypoeutectic gray cast iron. The results showed that the modified SiCparticles increased the nucleation, the undercooling and microstructure of hypoeutectic gray cast iron, and the tensile strengthof the iron at room temperature was increased by 18,28%. The present work solves the problem that traditional SiC ceramicparticles are prone to agglomeration in molten metal, analyzes its action mechanism, and can expand the application of SiCceramic particles to strengthening metal properties of casting materials.
